Its performance is okish but not comparable to other urban vehicles. It doesn't use the new Dual jet k15 which is clearly tuned for Milege. Its more easier to drive than Thar and is more stable, handles better and is light. The lumpiness of Body on frame is present there and the on road ride is still decent but its ride on bad roads is absolutely incredible.

More offroads kits, better articulation and lighter weight makes it a real offroader. Atleast unlike Thar, its roof wont leak, nor will the electronics fail nor will the wheels scrap the wheel wall under articulation 🤣. Its also fully loaded with safety features from base
Well, Jimny does have practicality advantages like Bigger Boot, usable and spacious second row, 5 doors and is still smaller than Thar making it more easier to park and use in traffic. Its also lighter, much better insulated and refined, more controlled body roll and handling and is easier to drive than Thar. Its also a Suzuki so it will obviously be more reliable and still give good milege numbers. Even if you are looking for Offroading, one major advantage this thing has over Thar is solid axles front and back, better articulation and is also 500-600 KGs lighter. The stock wheels of Thar on the front scrap the wheel wall under heavy articulation which is very unlikely for an Offroader and also the front Radiator of Thar is placed quite low (even lower than Jimny) which is why many owners have broke it during extreme offroad. Suzuki also provides alot of useful accessories for offroad or for practicality as well. The sad Truth is, Thar is 70% just a Show off or photo vehicle made for people who want a more affordable Wrangler. While this Little Champ is one of the most highest demanded Offroaders in 100s of Countries with alot of respect for it. But let the price decide
Nice review. This true 4X4 gets the Indians a true blue SUV at a hopefully reasonable price that they've been looking for. It's a fit-for-purpose vehicle that does everything that a 4X4 is supposed to do and then some more. I have a 2016 Gypsy King that I bought brand new and thank God that I did. I'll probably add a Jimny next year and they'll make a great pair. I know there will be a proverbial demand for comparison with Thar/Gurkha etc. which is fine. I'll take this any day over those vehicles that are both wide, heavy, and unwieldy something that I can do without on narrow Himalayan trails. Although I have been living abroad for the last 18 years; I was born in Shimla and have been driving all over North India (HP, Uttrakhand), especially on my trips back home once a year. I have driven global SUVs like Jeep Wrangler, Toyota Landcruiser Prado, and Toyota 4 Runner and I can tell you that this JImny is almost as good. I just wish folk don't start trashing our river beds and other natural/green spaces (typically we Indians have scant regard for these) once these SUVs are out in number. Future owners all need to be careful not to engage 4H/L on paved surfaces that will result in transmission binding and thus result in costly repairs of the transfer case. Looking forward to test-driving the Jimny on my next trip to India.
Have had the pleasure to own 5 Gypsy's over the years. Waiting and Ageing till the Jimny was finally launched in India, then waited another six [6] months after booking, one of the 1st, we were anxiously waiting for the prices. The 7 June price revel left us in shock, to say the least. For a four [4] seat vehicle, but in reality fit for two ;), it is Highly Overpriced by about 2.5 to 3 Lacs, the prices were VERY DISAPPOINTING and Maruti will CRASH its booking numbers. Comparing the Jimny with the Thar is like Oranges to Apples, so we won't go there. Where Maruti had the opportunity to have a swarm of little Jimny's running around India, if the pricing was correct. Instead they chose to price it so high that the basic ON ROAD cost for the Zeta MT is going to be about 15.10 to 15.40 Lacs, with the Alpha AT at about 17.50 to 17.80 Lacs, this with an K15-B Engine, NOT the K15-C + many other shortcomings. Come on Maruti, How & Why the EXORBITANT PRICING? Still can't get over the SHOCK 🤔

Jimmy cannot be compared with any other suv for me , Its just one of a kind , It looks supper cute , one of the best cars off road, I would buy it just for its character.
It's a body on frame so, the evident gear shifts being long and vibration can be felt in the cabin. The tires are very skimpy and needs to be upgraded.
on a price point of 13-15 lakhs i would rather consider a Thar rather than jimny... the only upside which i feel the jimny has over a thar (presently) is the 5 door option. moreover i feel the off roading for this video was done on a controlled environment which almost never translates to real world usage.
According to me a bit more refinement is needed. But i fear that maruti might decrease the material quality over the next generation when the refinement finally comes

Thar is thousand miles ahead of this vehicle in terms of built quality, safety, road presence and riding fun. I have both ecosport and Thar automatic. But Thar is a crazy performer. Even in acceleration also it outruns my ecosport. Love the mighty all capable torque converter Thar.😊🥰
I Have 2 gypsy impressed frm them booked Jimny it’s 2nd booking in Jammu but after see her live she breaks my heart 😢I cancelled my booking with immediate effect after 2 days,I also compare her with g wagon but unfortunately it’s espresso on steroids,but if you compare her with with breeza and fake suv like her it’s a good deal and considered it two seater rather then four.
The real charm of Jimny is in the original the 3 door short wheelbase version. Public should have option of both. Atleast in the ratio of 1:10 for 3 door and 5 door. There are many enthusiasts who need 3 door only. 3 door RHD model can easily be launched in India as all are being manufactured in India. Hope Maruthi Suzuki makes it possible.

Your less educated about this. Jimmy is based on a 3 Door Kei car vehicle, a class of vehicles in Japan which are only 1480 MM wide and 3300 MM long. Only the extended claddings make its 1600 MM wide. Offroaders also aren't supposed to be heavy, weight is a basic enemy of any offroader. And also weight is a very unreliable way of determining vehicle structural rigidity. Old Scorpio weighs 1900 KGs which is quite heavy for its size but is an absolute tin can. Similarly, recall the accident of Brezza and Altroz, both weigh the same inspite of Brezza being bigger but still brezza managed to destroy Altroz. The new Alto k10 weighs just 750 KGs but still managed to perform stable bodyshell shell ratings in GNCAP and becoming the most affordable car of India with this rating. Not even Tiago, Honda City and all coild achieve. If you experience Jimmy is real life you will understand, its much lesser wider than Nexon and also less in length.
Maruti Suzuki's strategy to counter their rivals is pretty awesome, they never let their rivals go much ahead. This car indirectly competes with Mahindra Thar, which is superior to this in all aspects, still it will take the market by storm. I am feeling pity for Mahindra Thar because who can't afford Thar can easily go for Jimny. Hats-Off Maruti Suzuki !!!

Performance on highway will be very average. Stability shouldn’t be an issue. Highway overtaking at high speeds can be an effort

The new Alto k10 weighs just 750 KGs but still managed to perform stable bodyshell shell ratings in GNCAP and becoming the most affordable car of India with this rating. Not even Tiago, Honda City and all coild achieve. If you experience Jimmy is real life you will understand, its much lesser wider than Nexon and also less in length.

Maruti Suzuki's strategy to counter their rivals is pretty awesome, they never let their rivals go much ahead. This car indirectly competes with Mahindra Thar, which is superior to this in all aspects, still it will take the market by storm. I am feeling pity for Mahindra Thar because who can't afford Thar can easily go for Jimny. Hats-Off Maruti Suzuki !!!
