Which BiMetal Sawzall Blade Best? Let's find out! (Episode 1 of 4)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 21 ноя 2018
- Bi-Metal (Metal Cutting) sawzall blades. Lenox, Diablo, Milwaukee and the Warrior brand. Based upon the testing, the Diablo bimetal blade seems to come out on top over both the Lenox and Milwaukee. With that said, all 3 blades are terrific and I would buy any of those blades. I do not recommend the Warrior blade I tested.

Indeed !
100% agreed, He is the best!
Yep, open minded with no horse in the race.
Totally Agree!!! :)
You are the only lad on youtube I trust to recommend a product. Your tests are not completely outrageous like info-mercials and actually show practical everyday use. I can't wait for the motorcycle chain lube tests. Cool to see a video today. Happy Thanksgiving.
Thank you very much for the positive comment!
Maybe worth checking out AvE's BOLTR (Bored of lame tool review) series. He doesn't really recommend the products, but he takes them apart explains the good and the bad.
Old bed frames make great knives too.
@@ProjectFarm I agree with him, I ride dirtbikes and ATV's a lot and theres a wide variety of chains form the cheap ones to the "racing" ones with X-rings in them. However I find they all last relatively the same amount of time (especially since I dont maintain them)
Couldn't agree with you more
Love the time, effort and ingenuity you put into your test/comparisons.
Thank you!
Man I always enjoy your videos! No biased against one brand or the other. As I’m rebuilding my shop, I’ve found your videos helpful. You’ve tested many products on the market for many different products. I’ve changed some old buying habits because of your test. Thanks.
Thanks! Thanks for the feedback.
5:55 FYI that is not paint, its ink on the Lenox blade. It is designed to flake off and be removed during use to prevent binding or sticking like traditional paint. They use this same technique on their hole saws to prevent sticking of the plug. That might be another test is hole saws. The arc is designed for when a human uses the blade with a "rocking" motion. The Diablo and Lenox are pretty much neck and neck though.
Great test idea on the hole saws! Thanks for the information on the ink too.
+
The Lenox would have won by "rocking".
Love the Diablo tho.
Yeah man, this video is pretty spot on. I run Diablo big blades and lenox baby curved arc ones for special cutting needs. They both cut through uni strut and allthread like butter, even with a 7/8th inch stroke from a baby sawzall.
Apparently I need to fortify my home with old bed frames.
lol. Not all are equally hard, but the very old frame I tested was very hard.
It'll be perfect against the zombie apocalypse.
My dad always used to tell me over the years that was the hardest steel you can find
Dont know w hat they do ( i do know why tho) to bed frames to make'em so hard.
Best have a torch to cut it with if you want to build anything out of them.
@@davidisaacson5993 heat treating. Well first might mix certain alloys with. But heat it red hot. Dip it in used motor oil. Repeat few times. Or else bake it in a heat treating oven. I don't know all the details. Just some basics. Guy I know has a biz selling industrial heat treating ovens for stuff like that.
I just want to say that I love this channel. Every test is so controlled, you take suggestions from the comments, and you’re very active in your community I love it
Thank you!
Excellent tests. - No sweaty, struggling, shaky, grunting 'human' handling the saw and with absolutely no variable human contact, these tests are "pure"! . You really do these well... Appreciate your content, Thank you.
Thank you very much!
Grateful for the videos! Showdown on drill bits?
Great video idea! Yes, I can hardly wait to begin testing drill bits. Any brands you want tested? Could you please create a new comment so I can easily locate your recommendation? Thank you!
@@ProjectFarm I'd love to see the best harbor freight drill bits tested. They're cobalt tipped or something ? Also I'd like to see how much of a difference cutting fluid, or WD40, motor oil makes when drilling too. Pretty sure harbor freights cheap bits are outclassed by a sharp stick though..
@@ProjectFarm Could you also, after finding the champion bit, test different model drills to see which is the best? brands such as milwaukee, dewalt, and makita are fierce competitors and it would be nice to see which fail, and which will prevail!
@@ProjectFarm At the low end HF and Ryobi, then DeWalt, Milwaukee, Makita, Bosch. You could try to find some drill bits still made in the USA and test those, but I'd almost be afraid to see the results. If they aren't positive it could be a final nail in the coffin of that company.
Project Farm, I would love this as well! For brands, HF, a few big box store brands (dewalt, etc), and Drill Hog. I'm interested most in their ability to stay sharp, and how strong they are as far as snapping. Love your vids man!!
Enjoying these sawzall blade tests. I'm looking forward to the next ones.
I would like to see some nail embedded wood being cut, maybe throw in a screw cutting test also. they can be a PITA and destroy a blade in no time.
You've figured out the next 2 video episodes (demolition bi-metal next, then demolition carbide) and the testing approach cutting through nail embedded wood along with drywall screws. Impressive!
I had to saw apart a big playhouse that was put together with deck screws, and even though it was $$ the diablo carbide finished the whole task and is still ready for more, I went through two normal blades just getting through two screws.
@@ProjectFarm I have a nail cutting blade in my circ saw and drywall screws stop it dead, hardened wood screws are no issue for it...drywall screws though are like coffin nails and took the edge right off the carbide teeth.
The 12" diablo demo demon is a beast. My go-to when i need a blade that cuts everything.
@@ProjectFarm drywall screws are extremely hard and will probably destroy any blade out there, with the exception of a diamond or abrasive blade.
Really enjoy and appreciate all of the hard work and money you put into your videos. Very informational stuff. Because of you, you really save a lot of people time and money wasted on bogus products. Ty again!
Thank you!
love the way you try to provide the most accurate and unbiased test results and read comments and suggestions, keep it up
Thank you!
Thanksgiving morning video.... heck yea! Thanks for the great content and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
Thank you! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family too.
I love u made my day much better
Thank you! Hope you have a great day.
Awesome!!!! Thank you for valuing my advice and the advice of others.... you are becoming a very important part of RUclips for a lot of us! Thank you and appreciate all the effort you put in! I know it’s not easy to produce quality content..... and your editing & presentation is excellent!
Thank you very much!
My hat's off to you for doing a well designed testing of the saw blades. I stopped using blades to cut bed frame metal a long time ago. I use 4 1/2 inch cutting wheel. Thanks for the upload.
Thank you! Cutting wheel testing coming soon.
Also impact driver bits would be interesting. Like a Philip's tip, how secure the fit is across brands and how the durability is.
Just a thought... maybe you could get a set or Rockwell hardness files and use them for testing. I.e. you could do sawzall blade teeth hardness, drill bit hardness, impact driver bit hardness ect.
Great video idea! Thank you
Back when we used to demo out stores, we used ones called 'The Torch', man those went through anything.
Thank you! I'll test the Torch against Diablo and Lenox in episode 4.
The torch is a Milwaukee and I’ve had bad luck with it. The Lennox destroys it in my opinion.
The job you did inputting these blades through their paste came out incredibly awesome please keep up your standardized test
Thank you very much!
Kinda nice to see my impressions of the Diablo blades was born out in your tests. I've long felt they were best, but never conducted a test such as yours. Thank you, sir.
Thank you! Episodes 2-4 will be intense and Diablo might not come out on top on all the testing.
Explains why I couldn't sawzall off a chunk of bed rail from the scrap pile; I thought my blades were just too dull, not that the metal was too hard.
After going through a few blades I found out that they are made from spring steel ! Now when I start to see sparks fly at the beginning of the cut I stop and use the chop saw!
You can cut them with a saw if you go very slow, the faster you go the harder it gets, work hardened !
Great point!
@@kengamble8595 Lol man
Great video. Still a Lenox fan because I can get them on credit at HVAC/plumbing supply houses and not the Diablo. Common practice is to give them a little squirt of WD-40 before cutting but I know you don’t want to spend the next 3 months testing saw blades.
Great point on the lubrication. I'll be testing the Lenox demolition and carbide on episodes 2-4. I've gained a lot of respect for Lenox!
fluke196c Hvac & some Plumbing. If you don’t establish accounts with the supply houses you get charged retail for parts, supplies & equipment instead of wholesale prices. That could be as much as 30% more.
Mario
@@ProjectFarm Use Lenox carbide hole saws at work to cut through SS. Works well hole after hole! Teeth say sharp! Not so much with the Milwaukee brand which they buy because Grainger stocks them.
Really one of the best channels on RUclips! Thank you for all your hard work.
Thank you!
Gonna be adding some Diablo blades to the shop after watching this one. Thanks for posting, and you & your family have a HAPPY THANKSGIVING! 👍👍
Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving!
Can you try testing the carbide teeth demo blades and also carbide teeth metal blades.
Great recommendation. I'll test both, episodes 3 and 4, competing Lenox, Diablo, and Milwaukee.
Would you be able to do tests on different types of brake pad materials? I know that there are differences that go much deeper than just this ambiguous change, but it would be cool to see what happens with your logical, straight-forward testing methods.
By different types I mean different material makeups; like organic vs metallic vs ceramic etc
Great test idea! Thank you
Great comparison again! And it's awesome that you actually listen to your viewers on trying out the Lennox blade. You're the frickin man.
Thank you!
Another awesome video! The quality and thoughtfulness of your testing gets better every video.
Thank you!
great video! what about testing different carbide tipped sawzall blades on steel
should of finished the video first i look forward to seeing the rest of the testvideos!
Great recommendation! That's episode 4 of 4 when I test the Lenox, Milwaukee, and Diablo carbide blades against each other on several types of steel. Which one of the three do you think will win the showdown?
@@ProjectFarm i personally use milwaukee and diablo both at work and have had great luck with both looking forward to seeing the results!
Great choices on the blades!
@@ProjectFarm I'm going with Diablo.
*should have
How about a test on flap disk?
I'll do it. Great recommendation!
What do you use? I've tried HF Warrior (sucks), Walter and Norton. Walter and Norton are tied for 1st while Warrior at the bottom.
@@dc5723 Abracs and Klingspor are 2 other good brand, as are Arrow Abrasives
@@dc5723 I use 3M Cubitron (ceramic) and CGW flap discs. Both are pretty good. Ceramic is generally worth the price premium IMO. Most of the grinding I do is on mild steel and 304 stainless
I appreciate you taking the time to address the ideal pressure on the blade! That's an extra step I wasn't expecting.
Also: checking the temp of the media.
Thank you!
It's been a while since I last left a comment on your video's. Still pumping out quality stuff and I really appreciate the work you do. Thank you!
Thank you very much!
I liked the bed frame material tests. That stuff is brutal on my blades
Thank you!
“Spring steel” try welding that stuff, it sucks. Can be done, but will often crack your welds when it cools down
use a grinder with a cut-off disk. *wear protection* , if you twist them they WILL explode and can cut your throat.
Sawzalls are more for light work a diamond cut wheel is better if you have. A worm drive or skilsaw you can cut it with no trouble
Hey diablo makes a new cermet steel cutting circular saw blade that you can use on your normal circular saw. This is probably a better solution for your problem
I think quality Toilet paper comparison should be the next as a video since there isn't any real good reviews on toilet paper. It's something every body uses and it would be nice to know. Charmin Strong, Cottenelle Ultra, Scott Comfort Plus, Quilted Northern Soft & Strong, Angel Soft, Nice & Kirkland
Wth man
Put the TP in a modified saws all blade over a tomato and watch it shread the tomato to simulate extreme ass wiping?
🤣 My prefer Angel Soft. Charmin always clogs my toilet. 💩
Only a roofer would come up with something like that.
This idea stinks
Diablo blades continue to impress. I like videos like these as they are helpful to everyone who watches and actually uses these blades such as myself. Keep up the great videos!
Thank you!
I love your dedication to non-biased tests. Doing testing like this what sets you apart from most all other youtubers. Keep doing what you're doing.
Thank you very much!
@@ProjectFarm My Pleasure!
Would the warrior brand be a good choice for PVC? For example if you are a plumber.
Yes, but a taller blade will help deliver a more straight up and down cut without blade drift during the cut. The warrior blade lacks stability.
I've used warrior blades on pvc before, really not good for anything bigger than 2", the teeth break really fast and then you start getting bad/chowdered cuts. I've been using the diablo blade for pvc and it cuts 6" and 8" easy, and it lasts. I've had the same diablo blade for almost 3 months now and still has sharp teeth, where as i was going through a new warrior blade every other week.
Would it work? Yes by all means it would get the job done, but at what cost. Time is money, and no amount of cost savings will cover your time.
If you’re doing it on a professional level you want both economic and speed. Which harbor freight just don’t have in this case. As a home owner for small tasks they are a good option
I bought the Diablo blade even though I primary cut PVC (I'm a pool guy). Lenox blades last a long time in the past and I like how thick the Diablo is. I figure the blade will last me long enough to pass onto my kids lol
Just saying that you can't cut a tire off of a rim with a sawzall it took an hour and a half just to cut the cable that holds the tire together
Great point.
cutoff wheel tends to work better in my experience
Ive done exactly that and it only took like 20 seconds with a diablo carbide blade on almost every tire i had to scrap
This channel does such unique and interesting stuff in a very creative and intelligent manner! Awesome video man, earned my sub👍🏻
Thank you!
Good job testing these blades. I like how you set up the tests taking out the human factor, keep up the good work
Thank you!
Why no charts with price and performance this time?
I'm sorry about that. I'll have price and performance charts in episodes 2-4.
@@ProjectFarm Great, thanks!
Your videos are amazing! I don't think anybody puts so much effort into testing stuff. Thank you!!
You are welcome!
Your videos are as always helpful, informative and you always try to find out all variables and keep them even throughout.
Don't really need a lot of the tools but your videos are fun to watch, plus if I ever happen to find myself in a pickle on what brand to choose, I know I can count on your videos to help me with that decision.
Thank you!
Happy Thanksgiving Project Farmer. One thing I'm thankful for are your videos. Thanks again and have a great day
Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family too.
Your experiments are always very well designed and super informative. Awesome job as always!

Your product testing videos are the best! It's great to finally know the truth of how they actually perform rather than listen to all the questionable marketing a lot of these companies claim their products can do. It's great to what the best product is for the money! Great video!

Great test. Clear results. I REALLY REALLY like your new close-ups eg. saw teeth. Lighting of them was perfect, and white background. Amazing! I couldn't ever see teeth that well, even with a magnifier. :)

HAPPY THANKSGIVING, PROJECT FARM!
Happy Thanksgiving and thank you!
Since I was one of the individuals, if not the only, to give you such a hard time that you missed Lennox on your last review, I have to admit I am very shocked to see how fast you rectified that situation!!!! A BIG MAJOR thumbs up and supporter coming your way!!!! GREAT JOB MY FRIEND!!!!!!
Thank you! I hope you'll check out episodes 2-4. Lenox is a great brand and the testing will show that they have some superior blades.
Project Farm maybe... but Diablo has always been an impressive blade for me and I actually use it for my DeWalt cordless skill saw and it’s superior to the Dewalt blade. But haven’t made the transition to a reciprocal saw. Looks like I may just be doing that thanks to you :)
I am curious though because I always use the short 6 inch blades and hardly ever the long blades because they cost more and so much of the blade gets wasted and unused. I would be curious if the shorter blades do a better job of cutting then their longer version blades?????? Hmmmmm lol. Ps don’t forget wood blades lol :)
This is a quick follow up to the responses, Love the channel you do great work!
Thank you!
Keep up the great content love the consumer product tests. It really helps when it comes to buying quality products with our hard earned money. Some other ideas for upcoming videos would be Hole Saws,Uni-bits and Drill bits !

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! Thanks for all the great videos!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family too.
I'm glad that you're expanding out with more non-lawnmower videos. ;) When you do the testing for the carbide blades, I hope to also see a comparison of whether you get more cuts per dollar out of them compared to the bimetal, in both wood and metal. I mean not especially hard metal, which would obviously dull the bimetal blades too quickly. I'd also like to see what effect cutting oil has on blade longevity. Cut times themselves, I know people paid by the job need to get work done fast but I'm not as concerned with cutting time as value, though I do recognize that cutting time goes up due to blades dulling faster, but also because of a thicker kerf and I tend to gravitate towards those demo blades because the are more resistant to kink-bending.
This is a great recommendation! I'll test demolition and thick steel carbide blades in episodes 3-4.
Happy Thanksgivng to you and your Family!
Thank you and wishing you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving too!

Thanks for another great video. Based on a previous video, I went out and bought a Diablo blade to cut some 4" diameter, steel well casing. With my Ryobi, cordless reciprocating saw I was able to cut through it in roughly, 3 minutes. Impressive and well worth the extra dough.
Thank you. Impressive results! Glad the Diablo did the job. I doubt the Warrior would have made it through the casing once.
@@ProjectFarm Agreed. Our race team has a running gag: Anything from Harbor Freight will either catch fire or explode. Luckily the blade did neither!
