I have two 122Mk2, I believe it has the same board, but I've replaced all the electrolytic by tantalum - They're small, don't dry or leak, are more stable with temperature, even lower ESR, the capacity remains the same for all frequencies... As long as we don't use the old formulation that was prone to short, I don't see why I'll have to go through the same ordeal 30 years afterwards...
hi have a tascam 238 i picked up of ebay on the 2 deck someone had tryed to re cap the pcb the caps were to heavy for the pad were the caps go the pcb IC'S were not working right as small as you can 4 mm x 6mm caps from RS 15 WATT SOLDER IRON works great in the end i had to pull out all the servo gear the repair to the servo motor pcb's was just to bad to fix i got the to deck working in the end
Hi, I just got the same deck and when I turn it on, the capstan motor seems like it's trying to reach the set speed but it can't and it's very noisy as well. Could it be the caps?
Hi, I have a new special board, for model122mkiii , I installed it on a model 122 mkii but it's not working. Do you have a way to make it work? pls if you have any aidea
Hi man. Great videos! I have a 122mk3 that needs all the same stuff. Do you happen to have a BOM of the caps you bought from Mouser that you would share? Thanks!
Excellent and helpful video. Easy to follow, comprehensive and to the point, thank you.
Thank you so much for your video, I was able to get my deck fixed.
Thank you for watching!
Thanks for the tech session... about to play this game myself
Thx, learned alot. Look forward to hearing it.

Here are the parts I used. Mouser part numbers:

Super!🧐🤔👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
is this similar workflow for the tascam 424 mk2?
Hi, I just purchased one . When I play the cassette it seems like it drags . The song plays slower than normal. Cap issue maybe??
Might just need alignment but it could be other things. Take it apart inspect, clean and lube the transport. See if that clears it up.
Just wondering what is the reason for changing the caps?
Those SMD caps from that era are known to fail. Probably not strictly necessary but I have seen units that had problems because of that.
I would have liked a video on the trimmers settings on the pcb because I touched them and disturbed ... You could do that to us in a 4th video ?
Yes I plan to do another video on the Tascam. I will try to address the trimmers.
