      One time a guy on eBay wanted a refund on an item that he bought from me because it was broken. The crazy part I sold the item for parts or broken only and eBay made me refund the money. After I provided proof in my post that the item did not work lol

    That tiger carving has a hole that goes all the way through - could be a netsuke button - incense holders don't usually have the hole all the way through them. I would research that further. and I do believe it's a tiger; it has stripes

    Those keys look like what they call "French gate keys" and some could indeed have been for jail gates. Only the solid (non-open end) ones are "skeleton keys". The open end ones are "barrel keys". They may have been for a garden gate or a portcullis. The top part is called the "bow" and the more interesting the bow, often the more desirable the key is to collectors. Some of those small ones are to furniture or sewing machine covers.

    Oh, I love keys! The square tip ones go into fancy old clocks or music boxes! That was my favourite thing to turn as a kid whenever I visited my relatives.
    I have a small key collection I've hoarded throughout my life. For example, my apartment switched to a door code entry, the lock no longer exists, so I kept the key for my collection.

    The "chisels" in the wood box are actually leather working tools for edge trimming and/or thinning sections. The mandrel you had is actually for metal forming ... where one needs to create a curve item that needs a tube like curve... too large for ring sizing. The wooden tool looking like a block with a sqaure beam through it is used to mark straight lines for sawing wood ... perhaps one needs to cut a 3 1/6" wide strip of oak... probably and antique with brass inserts.

    That happened to me with a scuba bag that I sold, it was cheap though. It was almost brand new when I sent it out, the buyer either sent me their old bag or they used this one and sent it back messed up and broken. Took me I don't know how much time spent calling. They automatically closed it in favor of the buyer because i never said anything on the return, I was calling ebay the whole time!! After sending photos, etc. They re-closed it in my favor refunded me, then they reversed it cane and took the money again. I called a few more times and then they returned my money and sided with me. It was RIDICULOUS! !!

    I am just in the middle of hearing your issue with the ebay return. Just horrible. I will listen further...just had to say if ebay told you they closed in your favor, hopefully you got their name, title, date and time? To me, that's it. You can't go back on your word now and say "oh, we changed our mind". The whole thing seems like a nightmare. I know you can file for internet fraud, and pursue the case outside of ebay but I believe if you can prove ebay said it was closed in your favor...then its a done deal and you just have to appeal it as such...and go up the chain of command within ebay. I just had a return where it was actually my fault, I put the wrong size on the item (one digit away), so approved return - BUT she returned it without tags attached, it smelled and slight damage to it. Ebay did close in my favor, refunded them and nothing out of my pocket, so I'm grateful for that. If you are talking to any rep from ebay always get their name, always write date time and what was said. I don't think I would have sent them new parts...but just hearing after the fact too plus it probably muddied waters in ebay decision - they did not know what to do with that. That buyer sounds like a big piece of work. I'd file something with Federal Trade Com. and FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center, your state attorney general and the consumer protection agency. Then let us know how it all turns out. I have a few items worth more than $1,000 I've been afraid to list on ebay. This just validates my feelings unfortunately. I am sorry this happened to you.

    How do you make profit on A dollar If you pay postage ?

    • @RustyTheReseller
      @RustyTheReseller  10 месяцев назад

      items that I buy in a lot to sell separately may have no cost invested anymore after I sell other things from the lot ( like large postcard lots). Once I've made my money back and into profit, that item has no cost associated with it anymore...Then I can sell an item for as low as a dollar or even $.01 with $1 shipping cost. I can only do this on small light items like postcards. When I sell a postcard, i use forever stamps I have already purchased at a discount. Currently I have stamps I got in rolls for only 38 cents each. So, if i sell the postcard for 1 cent plus $1 shipping, minus my mailer cost (5 cents) and my stamp cost (38 cents) I am left with a profit of $.54. That's not great, but do it a few thousand times...and it adds up. It also rapidly grows your sales and reviews on your Ebay store which shows others that you are busy and active and have lots of good reviews.
