I actually kinda like scars. Sometimes I get a really bad wound and it makes me feel a little better to just think about how rad the scar is gonna look. It's like a little story of your life imprinted on you, and it's just mindblowing to me how those few seconds that an accident happens in can change the way you look for years. You can learn a lot about people from their scars.
Yeah when I blacked out on my bike I fell pretty badly My lip was cut about 2 cm up and above that my skin is just REALLY messed up The scar is about 2.5cm squared and Looks awful..

As a plastic surgeon, one of the most frustrating issues is the difficulty in predicting how someone will scar. I can literally do the same procedure on 10 people in a week, exactly the same way, and see 4 or 5 categories of scar quality. The patients who make great scars think I'm the best surgeon in the world, those who scar less well - no so much.
+Flower and Butter I read this weird but awesome fanfiction on Wattpad in which the characters of Harry Potter met their actors. Harry's fake name was Henry Porter.
I have a scar on the tip of my left index finger because earlier this year, in early October, I dropped a glass salad bowl onto a countertop and it shattered. A shard of glass cut into my finger and a few mm of skin came off, but not fully so there was a flap of skin dangling of my finger (sorry for the disgusting details). I grabbed tissues, wrapped them all around my hand and went to the hospital. Everyone was staring at me because I literally wore my school uniform, flip flops and a bloody tissue. The doctor had to move the flap of my skin because it had slightly rotated (which hurt like hell). She told me that my skin had to reattach itself (which is actually really disgusting). She put a big bandage on my finger so it literally looked like a cast for a broken finger. I could feel the blood coming out and drying inside my bandage all day. At school everyone was like "What did you do to your finger?!!!" and I told them that I cut myself with salad. I couldn't wash my left hand for the next three days. My finger print only came back after a month. I'm so talented. I could write novels with my experiences lol
Regarding the last sentence, I had a total knee replacement, which was unavoidable :) This is another entertaining and informative Ted Ed gem. I only wish I had seen it sooner. It helps me visualize what is going on inside my knee, and why I need to do my exercises and massage it regularly to break up the adhesions.
I have a scar on my forehead and corner of my eye from a getting knocked off my bike unconscious from a car when I was a kid. Growing up I always felt insecure about these scars until but now it doesn't bother me, I started cherishing them. I also have a scar on my stomach from I was a baby, I had Pyloric Stenosis it left a small line on the right side of my stomach. Sometimes it's hard to work out because the muscle is cut through but I work it out, these bring a lot of memories :)
Dani I got a scar on my head after jumping on a bed. I jumped too high and hit my head on a dresser. I then had to go get stitches. And it happened when I was only 3. Good job me.
I got 2 scars under my left eye, I was bit by a dog in the face as a child, but I can't imagine myself any different without my scars, they make me who I am.
I have a scar. its from my stitches. That's my favorite scar. Stitches hurt at first, but they numb you so you can't feel it that much. If your about to get them, they hurt for 30 seconds, but after the they feel better than any other part of your body. So don't be scared, because it dosent hurt for long. :)

People keep commenting on how much they love their/others scars, or how they grew to love them. Its different for me. I hate them. I got a scar from falling off my bike and at first I felt really self conscious about it, but then after a few months of healing, actually looked cool and I liked it. But because life hates my happiness, as soon as I started to like it, it went away and now I’m just left with an ever so slightly lighter color in the area.
Why does it say scars are unwanted? I have a lot of scars and I love them all because they remind me of good times and bad times, and fun and sadness, and that I am strong and brave. I love every one of my scars❤️
I have a HUGE scar that stretches from the back of my ear to the back of my head. I earned that sucker in two different head surgeries because my veins made too much of one cell, and it caused a big clot thingy. Started chewing away the skull apparently. Could've died. Being born with something like that is apparently so rare, that most doctors don't even know what that is! :D

I got one in 1st grade, it was after winter break, the janitor waxed the floor, we were playing revenge the ball landed in a corner me and this other girl Sydney Webber, and I slid to reach it, I missed and hid my had against a concrete wall, Sydney didn't even care, all she said was " I still get the ball right?" at 4:30 i was in the hospital at 10:00 I left with a concussion for 6 weeks, they said no brain activity like school work. So now I gave this now 7 YEAR bump on my head, which got me bullied by this girl who called me "Harry Potter" but the only good parts out of this was no school and I got a Hershey bar after the hospital.

Watching this only because I had an accident and got a nasty cut in my face. It was so deep that it literally pierced through the skin:/ I hope it doesn't leave too much of a scar..
I've fallen on my elbows 3 times and each time I've taken chunks out of it. 1st time- I fell in my driveway on my face and stuck out my elbows to block the fall. 2nd time- I was ripsticking to the store and I skated around some dumpsters, when I ran over a rock. I fell. Next to the dumpster, onto a pile of rocks. I was about 1/3 of the way there and I needed the item that was there, so I kept going, (I was walking now.) I could not find what I needed and was DRIPPING blood from my elbows in the store, while I had on a white shirt. I had to ask an employee where it was and when I got it I went up to pay. The lady in front of me was at least 40 years older than me, and she didn't bring money with her. Of course she didn't have a credit card either. And she just got a new CHEAKING ACCOUNT. So when she tried to enter a cheak it didn't go through. So I had to wait another 5 to 10 min for her to walk to her car to get some. While bleeding on the floor and counter. 😐
I've got 2 main scars: One from direct hot glue got burning on my arm (and I mean direct, the tip pressed on my arm...ohh memories,..) And one from my cat scratching me + my horrible ways to react... AHH THE MEMORIES RUSH BACK
I like the scars on my skin. It's funny to tell people I tripped in gym class in 5th grade to get a scar on my hand or how I fell in a gravel pit at camp (twice) or fell off the sidewalk.
What's different about animals with regeneration like newts and salamander that do NOT form scars when the skin is injured? Also, the liver wasn't mentioned when can regenerate.
People are like saying their stories of scars like they got only one scars. I actually counted my scars on my left hand which ended up with 30 scars. Tiny but really visible. The only DIFFERENT scar I have that is really different from the rest is when I burned myself mith an Iron. It just looks like I got taned in that one specific place.
Fell onto the stairs and cut my head open on the edge. My glasses broke in the same part and i actually think it was the glasses that cut me. I fixed my glasses up with super glue and I now have an entire story on my face.
i love my scars so i wanta them i thinks it shows life the more scars the more thing you have done and when u see them they can bring back good memories
I have a really thick scar on the bottom of my toe because a wave hit me off a rock and I still stood up so I was sliding with bare feet and there was some coral so it sliced my feet open. I didn't even realize. I called out to my brother and telling him I fell and then I looked down at my feet and there was a huge puddle of blood on the rock and it was coming from my feet. My brother went to go get my parents and I swam to the safe rock that didn't get hit by big waves just little ones. That rock also got covered in blood. My parents came and picked me up to bring me to our stuff. The blood was dripping on my other foot so my parents thought the big cut was on the other foot. They drove me to the hospital and the doctors gave me stitches. I got four stitches. I actually needed stitches in two other places on my foot, but one was too small and one didn't have the skin to stitch it up anyway. Both feet were scratched up, but only one got bandaged up because the other foot was only small scratches. I ended up in crutches for two weeks because it was at the bottom of my foot so I couldn't walk on it. Even the places that didn't get stitched up healed, but there are still scars. My toe sometimes still hurts and feels like it might rip open again, but it still hasn't and it's been over a year. If you read this far, thanks! 😄
I got two bad injuries on my body and they were bleeding but now they're healing so does that mean I'm gonna get an awesome scar on my elbow and kneecap?
I learned while in massage therapy school that massage can actually help scartissue reform and be able to move whatever scartissue is on. it's due to the friction, warmth and movement of massage that helps the scartissue reform to a more natural and moveable state.
It's like when you break a china dish and glue it back together, it's repaired with less care...strange how we have digital audio files, which when copied with error-correcting codes, will last forever, but DNA which will rot out in 80 years. Machines pretty much do anything a human can do, better. The travel faster, remember things better, have stronger muscles, last longer, go into harsher environments better....scary to think mabye at some point in the future the machines would decide they won't need humans anymore
machines last longer? idk what machines you are talking about but i can assure you the machines i work with last for about 30 years if you are lucky besides stuff usualy breaks just think about your car?
piellamp But, if the software of a machine is it's soul. Then that can be transferred to mew upgrades indefinitely. So say humans worked like machines, if a new heart was invented, like a CPU, you could easily swap it out. If you wanted to replace everything, you can copy the software over to the new upgrade and still have all the same memories etc. You can have the same system on a new device 200 years from now, and due to how digital sampling works, it can do so without any deterioration.
Scars can actually be quite useful. I have one on my knee that is a perfect map of the London Underground.

+Avbitten it's bad to have scars there..... real bad... but your statement is hilarious!
but why do some wounds seem to heal perfectly while others leave a scar?
I think it depends on how deep the wound is. The more layers of skin tissue that is broken through the more apparent the scar is. I don't know, just my take from the video.

I have a small cut on my head top around the crown area for years now and for some reason it can’t fully heal
I remember going to a doctor about it n they gave me a cream to put on it… didn’t work
Whenever I’m washing my hair for long or whenever my head is submerged in water for a long that area tends to open a little

I LOVE THIS VOICE I SWEAR
Everyone who is scared and a fan of Scar for lion king: Have I ever told you how I hot my scar?
Everyone else: No, no you haven't.
Scared: I wasn't much older than Kion when it happened, back when I was leader of my lion guard. When I was the Lion Guard's fiercest
I took most patrols on my own
So when I met this strange lion
I had no fear of being alone
He said he had wisdom and power
And the most powerful should be king
With help from me and my roar
He and I could rule everything
I found his idea intriguing
Though the most powerful lion was me
But the strange lion was scheming
And had a friend I didn't see
That's how I got my scar
When I led the Guard
The lion would cure the snake's venom
As long as I did what he said
But I lost control and enraged
I roared and destroyed them instead
I expected to be praised near and far
For stopping that treacherous thing
But Mufasa just nicknamed me 'Scar'
Then I knew that he shouldn't be king
That's when I became Scar
When I led the Guard
My first plot for vengeance
Was spoiled when I lost the Roar
My second plan later succeeded
Mufasa was king no more
If it weren't for that miserable Simba
I'd have ruled Pride Rock to this day
But now, it is time
For Simba and Kion to pay
That's why I still am scarred
From when I led the Guard
Oh-oh
That's why I still am Scar
And why I'll destroy the Guard!
I always knew a robot voiced this haha
lol

I still have my surgery scars. Love them
I got one in 1st grade, it was after winter break, the janitor waxed the floor, we were playing revenge the ball landed in a corner me and this other girl Sydney Webber, and I slid to reach it, I missed and hid my had against a concrete wall, Sydney didn't even care, all she said was " I still get the ball right?" at 4:30 i was in the hospital at 10:00 I left with a concussion for 6 weeks, they said no brain activity like school work. So now I gave this now 7 YEAR bump on my head, which got me bullied by this girl who called me "Harry Potter" but the only good parts out of this was no school and I got a Hershey bar after the hospital.
"But at least some of our scars can help us remember to avoid the sorts of things that causes them".
My scar: caused by my sister. Lesson learned: never fight with my sister
I was reading a journal where they found 3 or 4 genes that can be activated to make fibroblasts change back into cardiac muscle using the same process that makes stem cells differentiate.
What's it called man. Don't let us hanging
I have a scar over my right eyebrow and it was bad i was bleeding so much and a day later i bumped in to a door and it was bleeding again and now i have a white scar...
i have a scar on my knee from a bike fall, its always kinda puffed out, but really sensitive to pain. whenever it gets banged into something, it sends shooting pain. really annoying, like getting kicked in the balls.
+Adam Starhawk Have you gone to a doctor? sounds like nerve damage
I have one in the face from a bike accident
My lip was cut and above that my skin is just fucked up
Looks like shit
+Liam Vance i have on my knee too...its like 3 months now and if i touch it with my fingers it desnt hurt..even if i press hard on it,but if i touch something like an edge of my table,it hurts like hell.even worse than a kick to balls
Cyndasaur eh, its not serious enough, i have to hit it a very special way for true pain, mostly its a mild inconvenience at most. weird looking tho :P
Adam Starhawk It's always an option to get it checked out before it becomes a problem. Whatever you think is best.
Your a wizard harry
I have scar at the end of my eyebrow and i am happy about that because my great-great grandma had that same scar at the same place.
Pretty interesting stuff;)
Watching this only because I had an accident and got a nasty cut in my face. It was so deep that it literally pierced through the skin:/ I hope it doesn't leave too much of a scar..
Why is scar healing more effective in moist environments?
Scars are amazing. I love the Skyes scar it does 38 dmg
I fell down jagged concrete stairs when I was barely old enough to walk, and I still have a scar on my forehead abut 14 years later.
I got a nice size scar on my forehead because I fell in one of my Phy Ed classes and my glasses cut into the skin and caused the scar
Dont sleep in class
(S)he never said (s)he was sleeping (not sure of the gender of the original commenter).
I've got 2 main scars:
One from direct hot glue got burning on my arm (and I mean direct, the tip pressed on my arm...ohh memories,..)
And one from my cat scratching me + my horrible ways to react... AHH THE MEMORIES RUSH BACK
I like the scars on my skin. It's funny to tell people I tripped in gym class in 5th grade to get a scar on my hand or how I fell in a gravel pit at camp (twice) or fell off the sidewalk.
Is it weird that I like scars?
no you could be the boy who live
everyone should like them
Amanda Stevens. i have a scar and it is awesome

What's different about animals with regeneration like newts and salamander that do NOT form scars when the skin is injured? Also, the liver wasn't mentioned when can regenerate.
I fell on stairs had to get part of the wound glued now I have a scar by my eye but not a lot of people notice it (Thank you long bangs)
I have scars across my kneecaps that hurt when I kneel and are annoyingly sensitive. Any scientific ideas on how to get rid of them?

Im 18 and i want one rn
thanks now i know how to get a scar should i use a machete a knife a sword or an axe
Thanks, robot
Anyone else have an injury as a kid over the weekend then came back to school all like "BASK IN THE GLORY OF MY BATTLE SCARS!!!!"
If you have super healing like in the comics should you not still get scars??
honestly I love my scars. for me they are a proof of my life and it is pretty cool when I tell people I almost lost my toe to a circular saw 😆😆
I got two bad injuries on my body and they were bleeding but now they're healing so does that mean I'm gonna get an awesome scar on my elbow and kneecap?

dumbledore has a perfect map of the underground railroad.....
I learned while in massage therapy school that massage can actually help scartissue reform and be able to move whatever scartissue is on. it's due to the friction, warmth and movement of massage that helps the scartissue reform to a more natural and moveable state.
Prayer request here!
It's like when you break a china dish and glue it back together, it's repaired with less care...strange how we have digital audio files, which when copied with error-correcting codes, will last forever, but DNA which will rot out in 80 years. Machines pretty much do anything a human can do, better. The travel faster, remember things better, have stronger muscles, last longer, go into harsher environments better....scary to think mabye at some point in the future the machines would decide they won't need humans anymore
machines last longer? idk what machines you are talking about but i can assure you the machines i work with last for about 30 years if you are lucky
besides stuff usualy breaks
just think about your car?
piellamp But, if the software of a machine is it's soul.
That maybe true but machines are not efficient and take many resources like energy and metal to build. Unless that were to change in the future.
+Brent Fisher They may be able to do all that better but one thing they may never be able to achieve is consciousness.
