      mranalini barasker hey i’m glad you liked the video. I bought the foam from a local store. There are different types (thickness) of foams available. The one I used in this video is a very simple foam which is used for making bags and wallets. If you want any specific thickness of foam you can find that in a sofa making supply store. If you are from Delhi let me know i can give you the address of the store.

    • @CraftasticArtist

      Allison Thwaites you can do zigzag / interlock / lock stitch to make it look clean. If you are hand sewing then you can cover the exposed sides with a strip of fabric and stitch it.

    I was wondering if you have to use lining or if its ok to use fabric instead

    • @CraftasticArtist

      yeah you can use the same fabric as your lining. the main concept is that you will need 2 layers of fabric (fabric + fabric or fabric + lining) and in between them foam for the cushion/support

  • @skullfullofbooks7398
    @skullfullofbooks7398 6 лет назад

    What would I have to do to accommodate a larger width book? Would increasing the measurements of the fabric help or would I have to look for a different method entirely? I need a cover for books that are about 3 inches thick.

    • @CraftasticArtist
      @CraftasticArtist  6 лет назад +5

      just measure the height of the book , width and the thickness of the book. remember to take extra 2inch in width and 2inch in height for stitching purpose. (in the end you can always make the sleeve small if its bit big for you but you cant increase the size if its small, so it's better to have few inch extra.) The method that i have used to make the sleeve is the basic method for all stitching purpose for booksleeve/kindle sleeve/iPad sleeve.
      for exampe if your book has:
      height: 8 inch
      width: 5 inch
      thickness: 2inch
      then you will add the thickness to the width & height so now your height : 10inch and width: 7inch. next you will add 2inch extra (to height & width) for stitching purspose. So your final measurement for cutting the fabric is height: 12inch & width 9inch.
      hope i'm able to explain it to you.

    Is lining in sleeves necessary? IG handle @adeena_reads

      I would say yes. Otherwise taking the books in and out will cause the foam to deteriorate faster than it would with fabric in between.
