  • Hey Cupcakes! I am probably too excited for this video lol I've been trying to read more this year (it is one of my goals for 2018) and I noticed that my books would always get ruined in my purse. I did some research, I learned how to make a book sleeve/book beau, and I wanted to share that with you!

    Just an FYI for everyone...it is Foam Interfacing. Do not ask for Foam at a craft store they will show you craft foam. This is a type of interfacing.

      After seeing this tutorial I had a friend make me different size templates and I have made several in different sizes. I think this is the best tutorial as it is the only one that gives instruction on measurements. The others I have seen use a general guessed measurement. Thanks for posting

    Your video was very helpful. I also ended up putting an elastic loop and a button closure on it. Thank you.

    I’ve found it easier to leave the bottom completely open. See only top and sides. Turn then see complete bottom. It’s much easier to turn. Hope this is some help for you. Love your video ❤️

    Thank u soooo much for this tutorial!!! I have made these in two different sizes and I absolutely LOVE them! I didn't have the foam so I used fleece instead, a little tricky because it's stretchy but still worked.

    Just make a book sleeve that is the same size as printer paper. That way you automatically have a template to use when cutting out your fabric and foam interfacing. Easy peasy.

    Probably best to learn your sewing terms. Also, leave the entire bottom open instead of a few inches. With the foam interfacing being so thick, it is much easier to pull it through with a wider opening.

    • @PaolaJulissa
      @PaolaJulissa  5 лет назад +4

      Chandra Cox lol true i don’t know my sewing terms, I’m self taught. As long as people can understand what I’m talking about that’s all i care about :)

      Leave the gap, the foam turns easily. I make them all the time.

    Thanks for this amazing tutorial! What foam do you use?

    • @PaolaJulissa
      @PaolaJulissa  6 лет назад

      C Li it’s called fusible foam...one side of the foam has “glue” which you would iron on to your fabric. You can find it at most stores that sell fabric and you can buy it online on eBay or amazon :)

  • @mplekounoupi

    Does it matter the kind of fabric?

  • @stellabreki1824
    @stellabreki1824 4 года назад

    Many thanks for your video! When you measure 2 inches for the edges, is that to simulate the height of the book? So for example if I have a 900 page book (looking at you, Robin Hobb) I'm a bit confused how to adjust the size to fit my book. Thanks for any help!

    • @PaolaJulissa
      @PaolaJulissa  4 года назад +1

      Stella Breki hi! So the height of my book is around 1inch, and so to adjust the edges I added 2inches to the width and height (1inch for left, 1inch for the right= width, and then 1inch for top and 1inch for bottom=height). Adding the 2inches made my sleeve have a bit extra room, if i wanted it a bit snug then i could have added just 1 extra inch for width and 1 extra inch for height.. (just take into consideration that the foam adds a little bit of extra bulk). i hope that wasn’t too confusing! I’d suggest just make a mock-up with scrap fabric or cheap fabric or even paper before you commit to the fabric you’ll use. That way you’ll have a basic idea of the measurements you need :)

      @@PaolaJulissa thank you so much for the reply!! I'll definitely try the mock up with paper to get an idea :)

    Hi! What kind of sewing machine can you recommend in sewing foam like this? Thank you.

    • @adasmart3095
      @adasmart3095 5 лет назад

      You can use any standard machine. Just remember to use a longer stitch when sewing the foam. This foam is safe for all machines

    • @kathie9823

      The foam interfacing she is using is $11 a yard. I bought the $3 a yard foam interfacing and us quilt spray glue to attach the fabric.
