I don’t have a sewing machine and I know I‘ll never get to make this project myself, but I watched the whole video and love how you simplify the process as much as possible. It’s beautiful work. ❤
hello again! just to say, one year on and I have just made my new kindle cover (another one!)........I made the first a year ago and on many occasions people have commented on the clever design of the cover and asked about it. My original cover is looking a bit old and jaded now (washed well though!) so now I am the proud owner of another new one. Thank you so much for 'walking' me through the project-much appreciated! jeanette xxxx
This tutorial was super helpful and fairly easy to follow. I am practicing doing straight lines, so this was a good project to attempt. I love my Kindle case so far *insert happy tears* Thank you!
Thank you so much for this pattern and tutorial. I am brand new to sewing and this was a success! The tutorial was very well done and easy to follow. This is going to be a very useful item as well. Thank you!
I loved how you taught how to make this step by step, however it did not fit my Kindle Paperwhite 10th generation with the corners, it was to big.(I am new to kindle I didn't know they came in sizes) so I eliminated the corners and used it as a pocket kindle holder so it does not get scratched in purse or when I am not using it. In the end it all worked out. Thank you, you are a great teacher.
I'm so glad it'll work for you, Cheryl! There are a LOT of e-readers out there, and it seems like the Kindle changes size by a fraction of an inch with each new version. I love this design because even as I upgrade my e-reader, I always have a way to keep it from getting banged up! Hope you love yours!
YES, thank you--I just got a new Kindle paper white and need a cover and a way to hold it at night in bed, going to take your pattern and also add a wide elastic strap on the back
I've made this a couple times and always have to redo it because I keep layering it wrong. Thanks for the tutorial. I still did it wrong, but this time I could go back to the video and see what I did wrong. the elastic gets really loose after a few years. So I'm adding a flap with velcro. I've got the flap down pat, but I still struggle to get the case the correct size. I got the latest kindle that is a little bigger, so far I've made 2 and they are way too big. I know it's because I'm a quilter and 1/2" seams are foreign to me.
Hi. I was going to make this today. In the video you say, Everything has to be interfaced, but in the pdf I downloaded, you mention that only the main fabric has to be fused with interface. Please suggest the best way.
I interfaced all the fabric. I used these reduced 8"*12" and 8"*6" because my Kindle measures 6.5" x4.5". It was a tight fit. I feel my reduced measurement works only if 1/4 " seam allowance is used. If going with 1/2 " seam allowance, the original measurements will probably be a good fit. Thanks for this useful but easy pattern.🙂
Hi Marlene! I don’t know the measurements for any of the newer models, but if you follow the link to my blog, some folks have sewn up various versions and generously shared the cutting measurements they used. Hope that helps!
Hello! Which model of the kindle do you have here? I have a kindle basic 10th gen and i wanted to know if the size you have fits mine just right so i just follow it exactly
Hi, Tania! They're on the Whipstitch site--I've updated the description here with a link that should take you straight to them. Hope that helps, have fun!
Kindles have gotten smaller since this pattern was created. Can anyone help me figure out the measurements of the fabric I need to cut if my Kindle measures 6 1/4 x 4 7/8 inches. Thank you!
This is SUPER cool. I think I'll try it. I have a kindle fire 8 however, how could I adjust the measurements? From the size of the Kindle you use, how much of a seam allowance did you use (I guess is what I am trying to say... I'm kinda new to sewing so, sorry).
I used a 1/2" seam allowance on this, but if you search my blog, there are comments from earlier versions of this tutorial (before the video) where folks with a HUGE range of different e-readers have shared the cutting measurements they used! Hope that's helpful! :)
So I finished and it looks beautiful.... I didn't pay attention that my new kindle is smaller. DOH! Lol it slips out and doesn't stay in at all 🤣 I'll have to redo it tomorrow with a 9.5*5.5 rectangle

That is the best e-book case!!! Thank you so much for the tutorial!!
I am going to make this but add plastic canvas or cardboard for protection and add a handle so you don’t drop it while reading! Thanks!
Thank you so much! I am going to make this for myself and then (perhaps) as gifts for my friends and family for Stocking fillers at Christmas time. xx
Love!! Thank you! Just finished making mine 5 minutes ago! 😊😊😊 wish I can send you a photo.

I love that idea! Like a pop lock for a phone, but for your Kindle--genius!

That Alice fabric is so cute. 😭
Hi there! Thankyou. It helps me a lot
Beautiful! Such a cool idea!
Thank you! 😊
Hello. Can you tell me the measurements of the kindle you used for this tutorial? Thank you!
I honestly don’t know, only that it was a Paperwhite purchased in 2018. Hope that’s helpful!
so easy to follow, thank you!
Hooray!! Have fun!
I made one, thank you. I am wonder if I missed how much yardage of each fabric you need? I made mine with one print because I did not know.
Less than a fat quarter of each fabric! I use small bits I've been saving, of fabrics I really love but may have little of. Hope that helps!
@@Whipstitch Yes it does! I have tons of fat quarters for projects just like this. 👍
Thank you. I added an inner pocket because, well slips of paper follow me.
Haha! I get it, for sure :) Have fun!!
Thank you from Brazil! :)
You are welcome!
Can you do measurements for centimetres please? :))

What measurements would you recommend for Kindle 2022 basic model? It's 6.2" X 4.3"

@@Whipstitch Thank you it did. Was able to recreate one for me Kindle 🥰
@@MarBear53 can you tell me the measurements you used for your kindle? I'm trying to make and I've the same kindle
