It is possible using Life Drain rank rank 5 (lvl 46) starts to outshine wanding, but I haven't been able to test this on the Classic beta because the level cap is 40. Depending on your wand in this level bracket, you'll be doing around ~5 DPS less than spamming drain life, but because you're face tanking with Imp you're going to have to spam Drain Life which costs 240 mana at this point. Drain Life also has a 20 yard base range, whereas wanding has a 30 yard range. In addition, while channeling Drain Life you're open to kicks/silences and getting shadow locked. On top of that, wanding affords you a bit more mobility via wand hopping, whereas while channeling Drain Life you have to remain stationary. Tl;dr, I'm eager to do grinding tests 46+ to determine which is better.
When you start to get shadow wrath and shadoweave items, drainlife become superior. Much faster killing/dps than wanding. Even at the early levels when the killing is not faster than wanding without proper gear, when pulling too many mob, draintanking can keep you from dying. In the beta I can dot-pull and kill 4x lv40 mob without using any pet, fear one, draintank the other 3, first my HP slowly drops, after one death I can keep it not dropping and when only 1 left then I actually gain HP. Of course with a void and aoe taunt its even better. Usually I lifetap down to 50% and after killing a mob I'm at full HP so I can lifetap again, and repeat... the only downside is if an opposing faction player waits for the low hp to attack... however drainlife - in a way - also good in PvP when its not the mana, its the HP what matters and even tough I have less stamina because of the dps gear, I can usually just drain them :) I don't even try (or need) to use fear against undeads. Of course death coil will change everything! At the moment in the beta my siphon life ticks for 32, drain life (without improved drainlife) does 62 per second which same as 185 per tick (every 3 sec), corruption ticks for 90... with amplify curse using the 3 instant dot (takes 2 sec to apply) I do almost 2k dmg... in mass pvp (raid or BG) horde drops fast or they survive without decurse/heals with almost no hp and I have 2-3x more dmg done and top killing blow And annoying horde with maxed out coex is fun :) In the beta at the moment Dark Pact is not working properly, shadow spellpoer does not affect it so takes ages to steal mana from pet by 150 (should be 350 with my spellpower) but still pretty viable. I keep my void passive without attacking just for the sacrifice in case of a gank, or the imp (passive phaseshifted out) in dungeons as a manabank who regens pretty fast. Pets sometimes behave stupid anyway (until they get fixed) Conclusion: wanding is good at the beginning, but later the wand damage gets weaker by % and with proper spelldmg gear lifedrain becomes viable and increases survivability. easily tanking 3-4 mob to death, and gaining much more hp back than the mana spent on drainlife and all other dot, going almost nonstop at lvl40+. The only downside is its huge healagro in dungeons plus cant draintank mobs who interrupt/silencekick, but then I just switch to wand for that few second and then continue draining... I mained a walock from vanilla until legion, and as I mentioned before, probably I was the only one who did sapphiron with 0 frostres gear (full dps) away from healers draining him and gaining health for lifetap even with the increased cold damage ticks and without needing any heal and topping dmgmeter :) Affli is so much fun, with aq/nax gear its 3 second (dotting) per mob farming, just running around and killing nonstop... and looting while mobs slowly die... the siphon life heal - after a point - gets more than the incoming mob damage. Ive actually gone with pure afflic and have been drain tanking and its quick and feels good. I see a lot of warlocks sleeping on Dark Pact. And in combination with drain tanking, your pet becomes a mana battery and you just can face tank like 3 mobs at once its insane. Definitely a lot of fun. But the Orb quest is soloable at lvl 35 if you know what your doing.
@@T4-Media you dont need to pump shadow bolts if you have decent wand, and the dots plus wand combo essentially means you can continuously grind without down time even without that talent
Great video. Very clear and concise. I appreciate your boldness to call out some of the flaws in what is considered the "norm" like getting a wand early on and not getting imp drain soul. Good stuff man keep it up
I got a chance to really test it out in the last stress test and I couldn't believe how ineffective the VW was right at level 10, completely different than private server or even vanilla WoW back in the day. Would never have believed it until I experienced it myself.
Hello. You hit the leveling spec on the head! This is the best “real” leveling guide. I thought i was off track with my talent points on my way to 60. Currently level 52 atm and my aff tree is somewhat similar and i am a little into demo. Working on getting the summons to .05. I thought i had to respecc but after watching this vid, im on track! Too bad they changed the pff hand orb to plus fire damage. Its not shadow anymore so i wasted time on that quest. Keep up the good work!
I used to play during vanilla, i leveled 2 warlocks, an UD and a human. I did a lot of PvP with both ( rank 10 & rank 11) . I will never level up with the imp on a PvP server because your ennemy will attack you immediately. The best pet while leveling is VW. Your template is good if you level up with friends well above the curve of other players, but otherwise no.
I leveled on LH and being able to pull 3-5mobs in certain situations with the void was saving me multiple grave runs , i absolutely agree with you that the void is definetly the best but we have to keep in mind streamers never do anything alone.
Hey love your content Staysafe, can you make a video on the first things to do as a Warlock when you hit level 60? like when do you go for professions and epic mount chain quest and which pre-raid BiS gear and enchants should you go for first, would be great! thanks
I've had great time leveling. I did all the class quests @lvl, made my own wands and crafted my own Shadoweave set. Its been a great journey and extremely fun. Spending a night just to get a new set of gear for lvling to 60 and not feeling like i wasted the time is amazing. In BFA when doing M+ i feel like i wasted time even when i get gear, this is such a strange situation.
Acktuahlly.jpg it would not imply that stamina has 3x the stat-weight of spirit but up to 3x the stat-weight since opportunity cost of spending 5 points are a thing.
Hrmmm, interesting to see your guide, and the sound reasoning behind it. I guess it comes down to playstyles for me though. I definitely want to try more wanding with a bit more spirit like you suggest, but for levelling, I've always preferred demonology; I know it's slower but it's so much safer in PvP, especially those 1v2 scenarios having Soul Link + Master Demo. Side note: I tend to use my succubus a lot to CC in dungeons pre-60 as well.
Great video with good and interesting tips. I can't stop to wonder why you suggest skipping so much stuff while leveling though. It seems that you're very comfortable with this class and master it better than most, but I think that when skipping so much and what must be rushing through the levels, new players will miss out on a lot of the leveling experience and getting a deeper grasp of what the warlock is and can. This does seem very efficient in getting to level 60 as fast as possible though. Keep up the good work 👍
"If you want you can go back at 40 and do the quests once you have your mount" took me from disagreeing with you to 100% doing what your guide tells me to hehe. Nice guide and makes some sense even for us adventurer types :)
Great guide and all but the thing I wanna say is I’m glad you actually keep your subtle errors in. RUclipsr nowadays literally cut videos every 4 seconds to get a perfect clip. Nobody cares thank you for just talking like a normal person it’s refreshing
Early Enchanting wands/quest greens(for Alliance, quest at Bashal'aran in Darkshore, idk about Horde, I think Silverpine?) -> Blackfathom Depths wand. The Blackfathom Depths wand will carry you from around 22-24 to later 30s until you can get the Goblin Igniter from a quest in STV(which is a pretty small upgrade over the BFD wand at lvl 38-42 range). After that, the next one you should aim for is probably the Noxious Shooter from Maraudon at 46-48.
Just want to say that the Orb of Orahil, i think you can do that at lvl36, i was able to solo him at lvl35 barely, but i did not make the time required for the quest, 2:40 something when she summons him. Also, i chose the staff rather than the wand, more spell dmg.
Hot Warlock dude here just popping in to say I'm so happy you made an updated guide. Kinda shocked that the VW isn't seen as the primary pet to level with anymore, though.
Like, I have tried this popular method to play but honestly, just stacking + fire spell damage items along with desturction talent tree and putting Immolate + spamming searing pain + the -1sec cd on imp firebolt is just so much more efficient, I estimate like 75% faster kills with doing it like this which is huge, you lose mana a bit faster but you also kill most enemies before they reach you so you can lifetap to regain the lost mana pretty well. I noticed this build just by accident when I respecced to spam hellfire ability together with a friend and I respecced from your advised build to this fire-based build, and I must say that I think the fire-based build is pretty great, as well as spamming searing pain dealing like 2.4x more damage with 1.5 cast time vs 1.5 sec cast time wand around the same level, as well as the 100% crit damage talent along with the 10% increased crit chance of searing pain. Quite awsome, try it out once. I recommend. Oh ya, and you also have firestone ability.
@Radamenti Aye, you kill your enemies of same level in about 5-6 seconds but you do lose mana relatively fast as well as you have less health as the fire spellpower gear only give pure fire spellpower and no additional stamina or so. But it is fun to play.
Creating your own wand is really inefficient, that is true. But now a few weeks into classic, the prices of Greater Magic Wands really dropping. So take a peek into the auction house if you are in the City for Training anyways.
Dark Pact+Succubus drain tanking will be better at both up time and kill speed than your leveling build, especially when you start to gather spell/shadow damage gears around your 30s-40s.
At lvl 30 your drain life is better than the wand. (Gravestone scepter) What I do is I go succubus + CoA + Siphon Life + Corruption and Drain Life. It's really fast, especially with spell power and I lose next to no resources.
Thanks for the info, The more I have looked it up it would be smart to switch over to SoulLink spec around 45 due to ganking. No one can kill a SL lock at this point. You will save more time from people just avoiding you and not running back from the graveyard constantly . I say 45 because not having instant corruption would slow down your leveling a lot even if its just for a level or two. Unholy power should make up for the damage lost from improved curse along with amplify curse.. Immediately after get some points in suppression then just follow the normal 20/31/0 pvp build.
I think the Enchanted Gold Bloodrobe is quite good, when I played back in vanilla it lasted quite a while for me. If you can get the Robe of Arcana it's a good idea to do the quest. Getting the robe is probably the hardest thing in the entire questline. The crafting recipe drops only from two mobs, one of them is an elite and the other is in darkshore in an out of the way location (I think there isn't even a quest leading you anywhere close), as a result the crafting recipe was back in vanilla rarely seen in the AH, the finished robe was even rarer. Though I admit that getting some of the questitems takes some traveltime since you have to go to desolace and arathi highlands, so it's something I personally would recommend if you aren't in a hurry. Also while it's probably easier to get the tome for the infernal, the quest is a lot more fun and it feels better, mostly from a RP viewpoint, to do the quest. I especially enjoyed what the questgiver does after you have finished the quest. I'm wouldn't be surprised if many warlocks actually missed that, since you don't have to wait for it to finish the quest and it happens a little bit after you turned the quest in more than enough time to summon your mount and be on your way.
The problem is that he's talking in terms of Classic release while you're talking about x time down the line. Unless you grind for that robe and craft it yourself, wasting tons of time in the process, there's no way to get the quest done on release as there will be no one to buy it from. So his advice stands, you skip the quest.
The imp increases dps, but I don't know whether overall it works well in questing when mobs often easily aggro. The voidwalker gives a slight advantage in survivability by pulling aggro, but then again you are sacrificing dps. I don't know if the imp does enough damage to make up for lack of armour. One of the key strengths of warlock is its ability to solo many quests and even elites, elites can only be killed if the voidwalker survives long enough. I just can't decide.
I can't wrap my head around 5/5 Suppression. At 2 points you're capped against same level mobs and +1 mobs, at 3 points you're capped at +2 mobs. At 5/5 you're still missing 7% on +3 mobs so the question is why are you fighting +3 mobs in the first place? Stick to mobs at your level or up to +2 levels, your leveling efficiency will increase and you'll save 3 points to put elsewhere.
he ended up having to do higher level stuff every now and again in his leveling route so its more things like 4-5 levels ahead the difference between getting any hits or none
@@jamiestrachan7644 the point is something has gone wrong if you find yourself in a spot where those points got value in the first place. It's bad advice for a warlock guide.
It's easier to solo high level questmobs for early good questrewards... you can get oom very fast or miss lot of fear without 5/5 supression. I think its a must.
Great vid man, I feel well prepared to lvl my first toon come classic release. Love the dedication, research and man hours put into this guide my dude. 👍🤘
I find alot of it depends on how aggressive you want to life tap which pulls ahead. In a perfect world, they are equal while leveling. Personally I'm more aggressive on the taps so I value stam more, but if you're wanding alot spr is good due to the mp5 rule.
Using imp in contested zones puts yourself in a super vulnerable position. If ganked, you'd need to fear the bad guy to buy time to summon void. Fel domination CD makes the cast 4.5 seconds. You most likely have a mob on you already, as a ganker would wait until you have pulled something. This mob could push your cast back. Then, you'd probably need to sac the void asap (gankers will only strike when your health is low anyway). The shield is up, but it's not increased by 30% from imp void talent, and may not be enough to win that fight when you're taking hits from the npc you were fighting, and the enemy player. If you always have void out, that void can be sacced. Then you can do another void sac with Fel Domination CD. Picking void over imp means you will have 30% imp void talent, stronger sacs. Most importantly, imagine the perspective of the enemy players. If a rogue sees a warlock with an imp out in stv, his dick will get hard. If a rogue sees a warlock with a void out, he is already less likely to want to attack that lock. Simply having void stand next to you acts as a deterrent (there's no way to test this but you know i'm right). Imp will be faster leveling. Void/demo gives safety. You need to pick one or the other, not try straddle the middle with an imp spec that gets fel domination. Maybe ur a good enough pvper that your spec is enough to see you through most fights, but me and many others are not
Thanks for the video StaySafe! Great info for new Warlocks. I created and uploaded a model on Reddit Wow Classic forum in an attempt to remember some of the great tips and tricks!
I respect the time and effort you put into this yet I have several issues with these tips: 1) I really wonder if the Imp is worth it. For one - with the Voidwalker - you can actually take on an average of 3 mobs - dotting all of them and then wanding them one at a time, casting a Shadow Bolt if you proc Nightfall (and the mob is very low on health and you have the Mana to spare). In addition, using a Voidwalker is much safer. So not at all sure the Imp is the better or even faster choice for leveling. If you do go Voidwalker - you should get the Improved Voidwalker talent asap (and of course skip the Improved Imp talent - Instead - put some points into Fel Intellect and Fel Stamina). 2) Immolate? Not sure it is even worth casting, especially since it draws aggro. 3) I for one don't suggest skipping quests - maybe you will level faster skipping quests but why is that even so important? The point is to enjoy the game and class-specific quests are the bread and butter of any class, certainly the Warlock - getting all the choices in Demons. In some situations, having a Succubus or Felhunter might actually serve you better and help you level faster so I really think you should do at least those quests when they become available (or maybe wait a few levels if you can't get a friend/friends to help you out). 4) Just a minor correction (really nitpicking here - sorry) - it's Grim Reach, not Amplify Reach.
im 35 and full affliction and there was a guy killing the same mobs as me and he was also 35 and following this guide and i was killing things just as fast as him with 4 dots + drain life and a voidwalker and i was always at almost full hp and mana while this other guy was always an inch from death
1 by 1 i ca see imp working better but with void (and imp drain soul to cover mana down time) you can have void on one full dotted, you wanding one full dotted and another feared full dotted, through tap and DS theres still no downtime and imo its likely faster. Constantly bouncing mobs (depending on the area)
soloed that guy i think at 35...i remember it being very freaking hard and took skill as well as luck ...took me multiple tries and barely survived and my heart was beating out of my chest but was really fun then went on and not long later got stumped by a non elite solo quest in desolace lol
Play what you like. Human or gnome isn't going to make you a better player. I've parsed 99s as a human. The extra int from gnome isn't that impactful for warlock.
First of all I like this guide a lot, but I have a quick question if I remember from Vanilla, the professions of choice for locks were tailoring and enchanting for lvling, because you DE'd your own greens/blues from tailoring for enchanting mats, and easily paid for everything you needed, and most of what you wanted, by AHing Chanting mats and some blues from tailoring, with minimal time invest and tailored items and chants could help you siginificantly. Also a if I remember Engineering was not recommended unless you were a heavy PVP'r. I might be remembering wrong of course but just wanted to know your thought process on locks having engineering while lvling.
Engineering is good for pve/pvp due to all the gadgets and explosives you get. Enchanting is mainly dependent on you getting rare recipes to be super useful. One requires alot more work to be useful or profitable, is what most would say. Nothing wrong with tailoring/chanting.
Hey Staysafe, did you try levelling with a succubus? Taking a look at talents, it seems like it might be viable due to very high dps if you spec into improved lash of pain and improved succubus? Seems like that would lead to higher dps than imp and also a bit more tanky? Plus the seduce comes in handy in PVP areas. What do you think? Pros and cons? Also I would be really keen to hear your thoughts on a 40-60 guide for levelling.
Is going 3/3 Improved Voidwalker a good alternative over Impr. Imp? I'm excited to try this build out but am more comfortable running VW when those quick Rogue ganks come out of nowhere. What are your thoughts Staysafe?
there is no way multidotting, siphon soul infight regen with voidwalker and drainlife is slower then what you explain. good locks juggel 3-4 mobs constantly and need to regen life and mana to be super efficient.
Funny cuz when I popped into your stream you were doing nothing but using your succubus while leveling... lol. Drain Tanking build using succubus with dark pact best way to go for leveling a Warlock is it not?
If soul harvester is in the game at phase 1 I would absolutely recommend taking it over the trinket. The trinket is very situationally useful at max level where the staff is extremely over powered for the level it's available at (pre-60)
Since you will already have a good offhand, its better to get a good one hand with it. And when DireMaul comes out you can get better weapons anyway... and with AV you will use the offhand book and get a nice spelldmg onehand from the raids... later with bwl aq naxx the mainhamd/offhand vs 2handed becomes kinda equal in full spellpower and stats, maybe sometimes 2handed weapons have more stat but lil less total spellpower.
DaMaGepy AV offhands don't get added til phase 3. Soul harvester is 24 damage and 1% hit. If all you cared about was pve the staff is almost on par with staff of dominance since hit rating is so critically valuable on a warlock pre-ZG it makes up for the loss of +damage.
@@Volkain10 I usually use the offhand with a shadow wrath or high stamina mainhand or a spell power one (Its easy to get hypnotic blade from SM lib) and I don't really need hit with the supression talent... The Soul Harvester can be good temporarily but the trinket will be useful forever so I can do this small sacrifice. And later the Soul harvester will get replaced forever.
DaMaGepy suppression talent only applies to affliction spells. You won't be dotting in raids and the majority of your damage comes from shadowbolt (destruction)
@@Volkain10 It is just for leveling of course, raiding have totally different spec, because of the debuff limit (MC/BWL)... Though later in aq/naxx where its not just a single boss or lot of running, affliction/dotting becomes useful again
Completely new to wow, I chose tailoring and enchanting. Should I stay with enchanting or switch to first aid or engineering. I haven't leveled enchanting much yet. I was told the two work well later together
Great video! Very informative. I'm interested in hearing more about professions, and what you chose to level with? Or did you do tailoring and engineering from the getgo? I'm concerned about goldflow haha. TIA!
Hello, it is possible to play with Improved Voidwalker instead of Improved Imp ? It is huge loss or not ? I preffer Voidwalker insted imp for leveling and for sacrifice shield :-) Thank you for answer
Have you considered just getting the 3/3 imp talents in Demonology and stopping there in that tree? You could instead work up towards the machine gun imp talent in Destruction. I haven't tried this myself, but I wonder if the Demo talents are more filler than the Destro counterparts.
Staysafe, how do mounts and pets work on the beta? I remember in BC as a Warlock each time my pet despawned from being too far away (which happened all the time while mounted) I had to spend the whole time and mana resummoning it. Is it the same in the beta? Because that stuff got on my nerves so bad it would keep me from playing Warlock. Every world PvP fight where you are mounted you would basically die because no pet >_>
Phase 1 isn't really about PVP, so you're better to work on BIS gear. Usually, you'd go Soul Link for PVP, though because Phase 2 is mostly group WPVP you may be better going SM/RUIN so at least you can do some PVE (raids), etc.
Nice guide! I have a question about the choice of Demonic Embrace. What would you say the net gain, expressed in stamina for simplification, would be? Are those 5 talent points worth a net gain of 10% stamina? 5%? Somewhere in the middle? If i saw a talent that increased my stamina by 1.5% per talent point, it seems kinda miserable tbh...is there really nothing else that you'd consider better?
Thanks for doing this, a lot of valuable info, surprising to learn that immolate is worth using in normal rotation and that imp is the pet of choice for lvling :D If we complete succabus and/or Felhunter quest while lvling, which would be better to use? still imp? Also, any chance of you wrtting up a quest guide? haven't been playing vanilla since well vanilla :P so quite unsure what quests are worth doing and which ones aren't, and for those of us that don't want to be stuck with the horde of players competing for every single mobs, a quest guide would be invaluable!
Immolate depends on what rank you have. If it's a new rank you just picked up it's usually worth it but there are some level stretches where it's not worth the cast time/mana and you're better off just wanding.
The imp may be slightly better if you are only ever pulling one mob at a time, but you should really be doing more than that.. And for that the VW is hands down better as it holds aggro
I'm planning to try this out on silver hand. Lvl 27 atm but won't spec it until 35 cos I think instant corruption will be a must for that build. I reccon that saccing felhunter will be stronger tho.
@@ELDevaux best tip I can give you is to check classicdb wands, then filter ilvl range 1-20 , and check the ones with no level requirement, those usually come from a quest.

Usually I lifetap down to 50% and after killing a mob I'm at full HP so I can lifetap again, and repeat... the only downside is if an opposing faction player waits for the low hp to attack... however drainlife - in a way - also good in PvP when its not the mana, its the HP what matters and even tough I have less stamina because of the dps gear, I can usually just drain them :)
I don't even try (or need) to use fear against undeads. Of course death coil will change everything!
At the moment in the beta my siphon life ticks for 32, drain life (without improved drainlife) does 62 per second which same as 185 per tick (every 3 sec), corruption ticks for 90... with amplify curse using the 3 instant dot (takes 2 sec to apply) I do almost 2k dmg... in mass pvp (raid or BG) horde drops fast or they survive without decurse/heals with almost no hp and I have 2-3x more dmg done and top killing blow
And annoying horde with maxed out coex is fun :)
In the beta at the moment Dark Pact is not working properly, shadow spellpoer does not affect it so takes ages to steal mana from pet by 150 (should be 350 with my spellpower) but still pretty viable. I keep my void passive without attacking just for the sacrifice in case of a gank, or the imp (passive phaseshifted out) in dungeons as a manabank who regens pretty fast. Pets sometimes behave stupid anyway (until they get fixed)
Conclusion: wanding is good at the beginning, but later the wand damage gets weaker by % and with proper spelldmg gear lifedrain becomes viable and increases survivability. easily tanking 3-4 mob to death, and gaining much more hp back than the mana spent on drainlife and all other dot, going almost nonstop at lvl40+. The only downside is its huge healagro in dungeons plus cant draintank mobs who interrupt/silencekick, but then I just switch to wand for that few second and then continue draining...

Affli is so much fun, with aq/nax gear its 3 second (dotting) per mob farming, just running around and killing nonstop... and looting while mobs slowly die... the siphon life heal - after a point - gets more than the incoming mob damage.

Finally someone agrees improved drain soul is a waste of time. You just don't need it if you're a good warlock
100% waste of time, plus it wastes a ton of bag space unless you got a shard delete macro.
The skill itself isnt waste of time (soulstone, healthstone) specially on pvp server. using it for mana regen is waste of time :)
@@bluestar4ever1 yeah the skill itself is fine
@@T4-Media you dont need to pump shadow bolts if you have decent wand, and the dots plus wand combo essentially means you can continuously grind without down time even without that talent
@@T4-Media you can still handle 2 or 3 fine, fear one tank one pet tank one and just rotate dots and wanding between them
Great video.
Hey love your content Staysafe, can you make a video on the first things to do as a Warlock when you hit level 60? like when do you go for professions and epic mount chain quest and which pre-raid BiS gear and enchants should you go for first, would be great! thanks
can you make a video detailing your 1-60 route?
use the addon guidelime if you haven't started to already.
Need someone as dedicated as you who has also spent time with the beta to make a mage class guide. This was concise and sufficiently informative!
Great guide, really concise and no BS. Wish other classes had something this good.
I wish every class had someone go this in-depth on leveling theorycrafting. Thank you @staysafetv keep it up
I've had great time leveling.
Wow what impressive guide . Bravo brother .
1 tip. this goes for both pet classes. use a send pet macro. instead of facing pulling
@O K using the word Noob than admitting to being a clicker. something not right with that image
Damn spent much time playing warlock but never realised how efficient Fear is to preserve the hp pool ! Thanks for the tip
Can you make a wand progression guide?
Would love a warlock specific keybinds guide.
It's all preference dude
Hot Warlock dude here just popping in to say I'm so happy you made an updated guide. Kinda shocked that the VW isn't seen as the primary pet to level with anymore, though.
The go ahead and level towards quest wand is actually a time saver.
Dark Pact+Succubus drain tanking will be better at both up time and kill speed than your leveling build, especially when you start to gather spell/shadow damage gears around your 30s-40s.
could you link talents build for that?
@@lloHaexaJlu google up Dive's Drain Tanking Guide. There's a whole Reddit thread dedicated to it. Good luck and happy draining!
@@trungalung90 it's really cool, ty
I need one of these guides for a Hunter in Classic
At lvl 30 your drain life is better than the wand. (Gravestone scepter)
What I do is I go succubus + CoA + Siphon Life + Corruption and Drain Life.
Shadoweave robe
The problem is that he's talking in terms of Classic release while you're talking about x time down the line. Unless you grind for that robe and craft it yourself, wasting tons of time in the process, there's no way to get the quest done on release as there will be no one to buy it from. So his advice stands, you skip the quest.
I plan to respec at 40 and go full affliction to dark pact and run that to 33/7/11 to be able to always be killing multiple mobs with zero downtime.
Great guide, awesome depth and concise!
telling people to use Imp for leveling is not great lmao
I'm inspired by your dedication. I will recommend you strongly to a friend of mine who wants to main warlock. Thx for your content.
I know 3yr old comment but vw doesn't hold aggro well after about 30s and Elites, as long as it is suitable, can be feared and dot with ease.
@@thendcomes He said he likes it for his lvling route, of which he needs to kill a mob 6-7 lvls higher for a powerspike from a good quest reward.
Great vid man, I feel well prepared to lvl my first toon come classic release. Love the dedication, research and man hours put into this guide my dude. 👍🤘
A great over view! Love seeing a warlock main streamer!
Would strongly disagree with Spirit over stamina as a warlock
I find alot of it depends on how aggressive you want to life tap which pulls ahead.
In a perfect world, they are equal while leveling.
Personally I'm more aggressive on the taps so I value stam more, but if you're wanding alot spr is good due to the mp5 rule.
Thanks for all the high quality warlock content.
10:15 your math assumes that you have the same amount of spirit as stamina. If you're opting for spirit over stamina, you may have more to start with.
You make me wish I was playing warlock my dude. Keep up the good work fren
GREAT update man! Ty! Really apprecaite your guide and help. Your effort, energy and obvious love for the game are evident and apprecaited! ty /bow
Since DM wont be out in phase1 for epic mount, whats your plan for epic mount? Are you just going to buy it?
I respect the time and effort you put into this yet I have several issues with these tips:
1) I really wonder if the Imp is worth it.
Appreciate the perspective
im 35 and full affliction and there was a guy killing the same mobs as me and he was also 35 and following this guide and i was killing things just as fast as him with 4 dots + drain life and a voidwalker and i was always at almost full hp and mana while this other guy was always an inch from death
One question. Is human the better choice for warlock because of the 5 spirit than Gnom?
No, for what I have seen, spirit is useless for a warlock, intelect is far better
@@eemeze1 i also think spirit is useless
Human are probably the worst choice of all races for Warlock.
Play what you like. Human or gnome isn't going to make you a better player. I've parsed 99s as a human. The extra int from gnome isn't that impactful for warlock.
exactly what I needed thank you
Thanks for the video, do you have a list of spells i should learn/train or skip while leveling? would be much appreciated
Hey is this guide better then the other one you made ? In talent bar ?
Awesome update! Thx for your great contez, man!
Still checking this video in 2021
Is going 3/3 Improved Voidwalker a good alternative over Impr. Imp? I'm excited to try this build out but am more comfortable running VW when those quick Rogue ganks come out of nowhere. What are your thoughts Staysafe?
Enjoyed the video. Any chance you could make a video explaining the changes you made between the two videos?
there is no way multidotting, siphon soul infight regen with voidwalker and drainlife is slower then what you explain. good locks juggel 3-4 mobs constantly and need to regen life and mana to be super efficient.
Immensely helpful. thank you!!
Love the guide, Just started playing warlock on classic.
not even a lock but your dedication and pure knowledge makes it an intresting view!
Just found your channel. Super helpful. Liked & Subbed!
Any hardcore leveling guide comming soon?
1) Dl is superior to wanding since level 38.
2) not using dark pact?
3) not using succubus, the most damaging auto-attack.
Once you get a succubus you go drain tank and still wand till damage falls off from wands.
This was very well done and helpful!
Completely new to wow, I chose tailoring and enchanting. Should I stay with enchanting or switch to first aid or engineering. I haven't leveled enchanting much yet. I was told the two work well later together
Can you update this once more for the autocast change using VW. It seems like VW did a lot better in the stress test..
Any chance for info on wands and routing?
Great video! Very informative. I'm interested in hearing more about professions, and what you chose to level with? Or did you do tailoring and engineering from the getgo? I'm concerned about goldflow haha. TIA!
really well articulated great guide probably rolling lock orc
Hello, it is possible to play with Improved Voidwalker instead of Improved Imp ? It is huge loss or not ? I preffer Voidwalker insted imp for leveling and for sacrifice shield :-) Thank you for answer
7:47 that's what I waited for. Thank you
Have you considered just getting the 3/3 imp talents in Demonology and stopping there in that tree? You could instead work up towards the machine gun imp talent in Destruction. I haven't tried this myself, but I wonder if the Demo talents are more filler than the Destro counterparts.
Staysafe, how do mounts and pets work on the beta? I remember in BC as a Warlock each time my pet despawned from being too far away (which happened all the time while mounted) I had to spend the whole time and mana resummoning it. Is it the same in the beta? Because that stuff got on my nerves so bad it would keep me from playing Warlock. Every world PvP fight where you are mounted you would basically die because no pet >_>
I would be interested to know your plans for 60 on how to make gold ? Do you solo dungeon farm or just do professions/ gathering
He was asked this on stream and he said he will do dungeons for gold. Mara Princes if im not mistaken
Wow staysafe u really nailed that gnome voice impression!
Can you do a pvp one but mention about best pvp gear ?
Noticed a lot of people haven’t covered this topic.
Thanks mate
Big love from Australia brahs
Thanks for doing this, a lot of valuable info, surprising to learn that immolate is worth using in normal rotation and that imp is the pet of choice for lvling :D
If we complete succabus and/or Felhunter quest while lvling, which would be better to use?
Felhunter is useless for solo play and only really good for Bgs. Succubus *probably* will just run OOM too fast.
Immolate depends on what rank you have. If it's a new rank you just picked up it's usually worth it but there are some level stretches where it's not worth the cast time/mana and you're better off just wanding.
Great Work! TY
Hello yes, stay safe where can we find your leveling route? Ok ty bye
Thank you for your work!
The imp may be slightly better if you are only ever pulling one mob at a time, but you should really be doing more than that.. And for that the VW is hands down better as it holds aggro
Have you tried stacking stamina and using a sacrificed voidwalker for the fel stamina buff? It is like having renew on you for 30 minutes.
I'm planning to try this out on silver hand. Lvl 27 atm but won't spec it until 35 cos I think instant corruption will be a must for that build. I reccon that saccing felhunter will be stronger tho.
What is the best Quest wand to get first when leveling? Just asking since you don't advise making one.
Gravestone Scepter is very good, if you want to run dungeons you should get it.
@@malloott That's pretty late tho (level 20ish)... after many quest wands and even Cookie's. I meant like a wand I can get around lvl 13 from a quest
@@ELDevaux best tip I can give you is to check classicdb wands, then filter ilvl range 1-20 , and check the ones with no level requirement, those usually come from a quest.

sure hope an imps request will be added in phase 1! only thought that raids and pvp stuff were added down the phases, not quests.
