Let’s keep it civil. I think the ABs will go very very far in the tournament, maybe even take the crown. Who knows though! What an amazing tournament awaits.

They were their own worst enemies. Scott Barrett's IQ is clearly a bit below par. He blatantly led with his should onto a player who was retreating on the ground. There was ZERO MITIGATION for that. Nobody moved into his line and it was a dangerous action. Does it first need to be a fractured neck before an All Black gets properly sanctioned?
The reasons that he got off lightly are:
      1) He is an All Black and "World Rugby" needs them to be in the knock outs for money-spinning purposes.
      2) The All Blacks are one of the serious contenders for the World Cup and if they lose Barrett they are too lacking in depth at lock to be serious contenders.
If it were the reverse with a Springbok doing that to an All Black it would have been an immediate red. Recall Bismarck du Plessis's LEGITIMATE tackle on Dan Carter a few years ago that got an immediate red? Even the Kiwi commentators on that one were saying that it was poor refereeing and it was a legitimate tackle.
Now we have a review system and they STILL get it wrong. The lost IRB farts sitting in the boardroom calling themselves "World Rugby" are destroying this game. Over the next decade, I expect viewership to drop dramatically as a result of these farcical antics. Why not just introduce a handicap system up front instead. Then at least their agendas are transparent.
I suspect that I will stop following the World Cup early this year due to "World Rugby" creating another farce as they did in 2019 where they disrespected the smaller nations. Likely to be more exciting golf being broadcast anyway. Nobody needs "World Rugby" BS.

He's tucked his arm/leading with his shoulder, second penalisable offence, diving onto a man lying on the ground who's nowhere near the ball, third penalisable offence. Even if there was no head contact (there was) he's done enough for a yellow/red there and much like Farrell's tackle the week before, he was never in a position to do anything legal before Marx's head popped up at the last second or whatever they want to argue, so there's no mitigation AFAICT.

Where my opinion differs, as a fellow South African: let's stop playing the victim - we're good enough to focus on the quality we've been producing. If people want to complain about how they were treated unfairly, they're going to do it regardless of what we say (or arguably even more if we try and get them to stop). We basically had to sacrifice Rassie for a year to prove a point - and I feel like we can now move on from an era where we were known as the dirty bunch that were targetted when it came to penalties and bans (if you rewatch some of them, you'll realise that, in hindsight, a lot of them were validated)... Let's prioritise what's important and enjoy the rugby the springboks have been giving us (and are most likely still going to).

Lets look at the clean out of the Springboks. Through the gate cleaning a possiable All Black player that can steal the ball. Malcom Marx, lying on the floor. Barrett, from the side into a player that has no chance of stealing a ball. Ye same scenario. The rugby IQ of this panel is shocking. I'm so glad that the All Blacks and their coaches still knows their rugby. It would be very sad to see the All Blacks fall as far as this panel in regards to knowing how rugby is played.

Additionally the 7 forwards that has been chosen is in the rules. The All Blacks could have also done it but dit not want to take that risk. Very smart play from South Africa and could have gone bad with only 1 reserve for the backline.

I thought SA played superbly and the ill discipline of the ABs just a result of the immense pressure they were under all game long. 1. Ref went to bunker once each half. The bunker is there to be used. It does not slow the game as it is activated after a yellow card is already in effect. It speeds up the game.
    2. Marx was not on the ball South African players played to the ball. Cleanouts of the ball and on the ball is 2 different things.

As a neutral, however, I watched this show with my jaw on the floor. The pundits and guests chose to winge about the bunker system, the length of the game and the ref instead of using their expertise to give us an insight into what each team did right or wrong. This would have made the show much more enjoyable and valuable to watch. Instead, we just got a string of excuses. To say that Barrett's second yellow was not a yellow is laughable. The AB's remain a good team capable of winning the WC, but your pundits on rugby shows need improvement.

We simply don't have a good enough team to win this world cup, The French have a side that is every bit as good as the AB's had in 2015 and so do the Irish. The Spring Boks have a forward pack that can match them but their backs may not be quite as settled as the other two main contenders however as we know they can bring the passion that could bring the desired result. The only way the All Blacks could win is if they play to their absolute best potential and helter skelter works on those days. I just don't think it will. My heart wants to win but my brain knows better unfortunately. Reality hurts but at the same time I hope the All Blacks entertain the world and make the cup experience great for everyone.

That Barrett guy should be banned for several matches. WR is a disgrace and the ABs are benefitting from a friendly and corrupt organization.

As a long suffering Bok supporter, I watched the Kiwis since the 90s get the rub of the green in luck and referee decisions go their way every single time, for 30 years. It goes against them once and they whine? Shut up! The best thing was not SA winning, it was the joy of seeing the most overrated team's luck run out in a big way! Hope France beat them with a forward pass, after the final whistle! Wish them no luck ever again, they had enough over the years.

But of course....when the ABs have become so used to preferential treatment, equal treatment will now seem like bias. "Well we got away with it for so long.....why the change in refereeing all of a sudden???"

Lol i have to say, when most countries lose they have a certain amounts of fans who blame the ref. However south africa impress as they take it further and seem as a nation to be convinced that there is a global conspiracy against them.

@@rhino2992 Well the fact that they can make a video of just one game (10-15 min long) of inconsistency and bad officiating is pretty telling , reffs are hardly ever held accountable for their actions and SA fans got a fire in their belly when rassy did it cuz that specific game was so bad that a team was allowed to play offside for 30+ min with no backlash
And world rugbys response was to tell him that reffs can get it wrong and then banned him for pointing it out for a year they couldn't even find a problem with his arguments and rhater insisted that he should have used the correct channels that never do anything anyway
A action they would then later apologize for

The fact that these expert analysts think that Marx telling his captain to talk to the ref, after being cleaned out with a 110 kg shoulder charge off the ball, is akin to soccer players diving/shouting at referees/ faking an injury is the most pathetic claim I’ve heard on this show.
Besides being one of the most respectful players in the game, Malcolm Marx is well within his rights to ask his captain to speak to the ref about foul play. This happens in every game.
Comments like these make clear examples of rugby rules seem like muddy interpretations. Everyone who knows rugby knows that that was illegal and a yellow card offence….except, maybe, Bakkies Botha.
