Don’t agree that the ABs showed any defeat for any part of that game! For a start they held the BOKS on their own 5 meters line for near 20 mins and lost 2 men to the bin eventually losing Barrett for rest of the game in the first half!
End of first half saw ABs score a great try which was disallowed due to a knock on. That could have been 14-7 at half time with ABs on the front foot.
Second half saw ABs finishing strong, scoring a try and pushing for another one.
At what point did they show quit exactly?
4 tries to 1 when being at least one man down since the 13th minute isn’t exactly a pumping.

SA are the masters on that, that's why they are so good at the eliminatory rounds of WCs. They always have huge and strong packs, going against them is like hitting a wall, great defenses, they are dominant on still formations, and you can attack and attack on them all the time but scoring against them is so hard, when you make a mistake you are screwed, when you want to react they are already in the ingoal

I never seen SA play like that.
They were were so intent on killing NZ that they evenr refused kick for goal on penalties in exchange for putting more pressure on NZs defense.
I never seen that before. SA always take every chance to kick for goal, but they were straight up on bloodlust mode.
They also didn't kick when they were deep in their own half and chose to run the ball at blistering pace in order to launch counter attacks from deep within their half.
Bruh the confidence and bloodlust for a running game was insane.

  • @Wilkinson7
    @Wilkinson7 Год назад +59

That was one hell of a game. Kudos to the Boks from an AB fan.
Hopefully the boys will rally and use this loss as fuel for the tournament.
Not to kick a man while his down but AB's have some problem areas that have never been addressed since the 2017 B.I Lions series.
    1. Our forwards are either too small, or those that are big lack Mongrel.
Our carrires from forwards lack any serious threat as a result.
Scott barret is the only one who gets over the advantage line consistently and Ardie to some extent.
2.Which leads to the second point.
Super Rugby has made AB's and NZ rugby as a whole blunt.
Competing and " thrashing" the likes of Australia, Argies, Japan has shunted the growth of NZ rugby.
The game has evolved to match the strengths of the N. H sides which is big bruising ball carriers, an accurate and high percentage kicking game, rolling maul tries.
Ironically this are also traditional strong points of the Springboks so it's no surprises they are the current World Champions.
Traditionaly these are not things that AB's are NZ rugby are good at.
AB's strengths traditionaly lie in a heavy hands and running game,
X factor backs, and prioritising forwards who have good rugby skills over forwards who can get over the advantage line.
I don't know if anyone has noticed this Will Jordan is at the centre of all and I mean all of our good attacking plays.
If he doesn't touch the ball there's literally nothing we are doing attack wise.
This tells me that our attack tactics are very shallow and we are relying purely on X factor.
Even the try we scored today by Roigard.
There was nothing tactical about it just a moment of brilliance from an X factor player.
    3.Speaking of Players.
No matter how good of a game I. Q you have this is still a contact sport. Pace, power, mongrel and good form in a World Cup year should be the yardstick before we look at things like Experience.
We have players who played in the 2011 WC that are still in this years squad.
I'm a big Chiefs fan but honestly physicality wise, power and mobility Retalick has no business being in this squad, maybe on the bench but definitely not a starter. Same thing with Whitelock, Dan Coles,Beuden if we are talking about poor form in a world cup year.
I get it, some of these players just don't have good replacements.
We have never realy replaced Maa Nonu as it is so I get it.
But Nz rugby want us to believe they have been unable to get replacements for these guys for 10 plus years?
Our position as the best Rugby side for a long time made NZ rugby a little bit arrogant.
Believing that we can field 2011 players in a 2023 WC is crazy by any metric.
Believing that we can afford to lose South Africa in Super rugby and still be competitive is arrogant.
Pace, Power, Mongrel and good form should always be the yard stick when choosing players to play in a tournament.
In my opionion, I could be wrong but Asafo Aumua should have made this squad over either Cody or Coles. Stevenson should have made this squad over either Clarke or even Beuden if we are being honest.
Sam cane is a good captain but that is not enough and should not be enough to earn you a slot in what should be a highly competitive AB's environment.
Look at his springbok equivalent Kwagga Smith, fast, very fast actually from his 7's days, gets plenty of turnovers, very mobile around the park and makes good contact metres everytime he hits the line.
These are all things missing in Cane's game.
I'm a big Razor fan, but he is going to face a very tough period when he takes over.
Even if he is able to address all these aforementioned issues, other tier 1 countries have already caught up with us. We almost lost to Scotland last time that's how tight things are at the top.
Literally anyone can beat anyone on any given day in the top 6.

Everything you said is spot on!! As selections go, Aumua, Stevenson.....and I'll add Finau because our selection is one short in the loose forwards, should have all been there!

But we have the Joe Biden of All Black coaches, a total incompetent steering the ship, so 🤷

You may beg to differ but : 1) He is probably the fastest running forward in the world right now. 2) He is one of the best ball fetchers in the world right now, whenever he is around the maul or anywhere near a ball carrying opponent, there is always the chance he'll just walk up to them and say "Thank you, I'll take the ball now whether you like it or not" and just canter off with the ball (seen him do it so many times it's mind-blowing) 3) His Rugby I.Q is world class, it's only not noticed because when you are playing next to Marx, Am, Willie, Kolbe, Eben . . it's abit difficult to be noticed. Kwagga Smith is a game changer.

...haha, your comment is so typical of the idiotic thought processes of blinf All Blacks fans. As if one player was ever going to make a difference. The players are not the problem, the incompetent coach is the problem and has been for nearly 4 years. I bet fans like you got lulled into a false sense of security with a few easy wins against ordinary opposition, but as we've seen the last 3 years, when a team comes to play the All Blacks look like schoolboys. The sooner this is all over the better, they are an absolute disgrace and an embarassment.

Congrats to SA, on not just a win, but a total spanking, dominating & out-classing NZ in every aspect of the game.
As a Kiwi the most appalling thing for me (apart from the yellow's) was our totally aimless kicking game, repeatedly kicking away possession without any chasers competing for what should have been 50/50 ball. AB's looked like rank amatuers with no plan, while SA had our number, were tight, coordinated & totally deserved the win.
    Gob-smacked & Gutted.
The only glimmer of hope (& Im clutching at straws here) is if you were going to have 1 awful game, this was the time to get it out of the way, & this was the wake-up-call NZ needed.

Ritchie did this the weeks before playoffs for Super Rugby too when there was nothin hon the line.
Drifting bomb going from one side of the field to the other whilst on defense and having been under the pump with a man in the bin.
Then come playoffs he stopped doing that rubbish and played top tier footy.
I wasn’t impressed with the amount of winking the ABs we’re doing to each other.
Let’s hope this was a dummy game plan to throw the opposition.

As dominant as the Springboks were, the All Blacks never gave up. Its not often you find yourself fearful of a team 28 nil down making a comeback after 60 minutes of play, but thats the quality of the All Blacks. You just cannot give them a chance and thankfully the Springboks managed to put 80 minutes of tremendous pressure on the All Blacks and it paid off. I have no doubt that the French should be worried, very worried, because a wounded All Blacks is twice as dangerous as one on a ten game winning streak. The RWC is all the better for this result. Well done to those who made this match happen.

Reading through the comments, yes the All Black are the most consistently winning team, but make no mistake, the Springboks are the most successful at winning the world cup and that's a fact👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Undoubtedly the greatness of both teams are purely driven by each other's love and passion for the game, and that is why the balance in the 2 sides competitively should be considered and promoted as the greatest rivalry in sports history🙂 If you truly love rugby then you have to respect what both the Springboks and All Blacks have done to make rugby the absolute sport of endurance, strength, pride, and the true pinnacle of teamwork and brotherhood even in rivalry 👍🏻 Less hate and more love for what both these teams have done as a unit for rugby🎉

NZ beat SA in the 1st game of the last world cup to give them that wake up call to go on to win it. Tonight the same has happened in reverse, so as a bok supporter we believe the All blacks are a class team and will bounce back quickly from this. 15-14 men for most of the game always leaves you wondering how it might have been for the full game, so don't lose hope, the Ab's are champions three times and we (bokke!) will support you in your groups until we meet in the final. OUr biggest rivals and friends for 100 years and many more to come. Heads up you will be great in this world cup and teach those french a lesson or don't but then definitely teach the Irish a lesson in the quarters. Lessons learnt and now time to move on to greatness as the world knows and respects you. Good Luck AB's !! From a South Africa Supporter.

For all Springboks and All Blacks fans, here are the current official Statistics for the 105 tests they played against each other from 1921 to last weekend's Twickenham record win by the mighty current world rugby Champions Springboks. Of the 105 tests, the All Blacks won 65 & Springboks 39 with 4 draws. Total points scored from these 105 tests are 1728 by the Springboks and 2185 by the All Blacks. The All Blacks scored 454 more points or 64 converted tries and won 23 more games against their annual rugby foes. I'm looking forward to their next game.
