As a Lando fan you can't help but acknowledge how good Max really is. Watching his onboard throughout the race the understeer he was tackling was unreal in comparison to the McLaren. To walk away from that P2 is beyond impressive. I can officially say he is 1000% making the difference for redbull and now i truly understand why people say he's one of the greatest to ever race.

Hard not to, if McLaren continues this form they will have had the fastest car for 2/3 of the season and most likely won’t win the WDC. Never ever thought a car with a non works engine would be this dominant. Max's 4th driver's WDC is under serious threat. Newey's departure has emasculated Red Bull.
I believe the situation will just get rougher & rougher for Red Bull. Max is very lucky he has such a big lead right now. Otherwise he would be in trouble. And i seriously doubt Red Bull will win the Constructors.
Strategy wise: What were McLaren doing with Oscar, keeping him out before the first stop, while losing seconds a lap in race time? He should not have been undercut by Charles, and therefore have been on the podium at least. And why did Mercedes give points away by pitting George to used softs?
Oscar said it in Live Post Race Show, that they thought Ferrari went too early for pit stop, and by the next lap Russell pitted first, so it left Piastri with clear air. By this point they have to go long to have the tire delta to pass both Russell and Leclerc on track. He managed to pass Russell since Merc were struggling with hard tire, but Leclerc just had enough pace to fended off Piastri
It was impossible to cover the undercut by charles, even if he had pitted the next lap he would have been undercut. It was entirely his fault that he lost his position to george at the start and then was unable to pass the much much slower ferrari. Awful race from him.
Lando finally being dominant. A race that could for sure boost his confidence to the rest of the season. Max once again outperforming rivals in better cars, his consistency is brilliant. The same could be said about charles, amazing drive. And these are the best drivers in F1 at the moment. Oscar and George are not far off, and lewis and Fernando are still brilliant, but both past their prime.

Well, that was a short summary... Anyway, Lando deserved the win. Even though the TV director didn't show him in the last third of the race, when he was in focus, that car looked like it was on rails, and it looked very easy to drive. And the last / quickest lap was just an icing on the cake. McLaren, the first team I rooted for in 90s, is winning races again. I just wish they had Mika Hakkinen Livery. IMO, those cars were the most beautiful in the "modern era." They still had that simplicity, which I can't describe. Aero was not as complicated, and tobacco sponsors were still allowed.
Yes, it was a great day for Lando....but I felt for Max......in the cool down room. He looked at Lando when he came in and smiled......but no reciprocation on Lando's part. This is a tough business to have friends in.
Lol this is F1, mate. It's always been an engineering sport - the difference in skill between the top 6 drivers isn't enough to overcome the differential of one being in a great car and the other being in an OK car. Dont believe me? Even the great Ayrton Senna offered to drive for Williams for FREE and ditch his Mclaren in '93 😂
Yes it definitely does.. The RedBull has been illegal for 3 years so all of Max's titles should have been striped away. In a legal car Max loses every time.
@@scroopynooperz9051 Exactly. Drivers like Max, Lewis, Fernando, and Charles are so incredibly close to each other that, BETWEEN THEM, it's the car and not the driver.

That winning margin cements Landos abilities. The redbull car is falling behind I assume the focus development on the next year's car. Interesting times with 4 race able winning team's.
I understand Lewis enquired with his team if he should try for a faster lap, but was told his initial time was safe. Still worrying that Lando can’t keep a start. On some tracks, it would be extremely difficult to retake the lead, like Monaco for example.
Hi Peter, any chance of any insight into the wind tunnels the teams use. I beleive McClaren have the latest tunnel and everything they bolt on works well, when every other team do not have the same gains. Is this because of the tunnels and if so how different are they in comparison and should the tunnels change reflecting the changes to the rules i.e ground force. Aston with their new tunnel and the time in the tunnel coming to them should see them rocket to the front, no?
Lando destroyed the field in Zandvoort, as seen by his last lap he had a bunch of pace in hand if he needed it as well. I do expect Red Bull and Verstappen to bounce back in Monza though with their straight line speed efficency.
anyone else think with the supposed Merc style shoulders and the down playing of Newey earlier in the year before he left, Red Bull was pushing for just stacking more down force hence the peakier car and now being thoroughly overtaken by the McLarens due to the lack of Newey tempering the just add more downforce mentality of the modern generation of aero heads
Lando and McLaren did great. Ferrari had a great strategy, well done to them. Max did his best in the RB20. Also, the Mercedes were very poor. Either way, I'm looking forward to Monza. It is a much different circuit and it should be interesting. I suspect that the McLaren will win, but the margin will be closer.

I think Peter has talked himself into a corner and has too much pride to backdown (see: his commentary after Hungary). Good to hear that he didn't expect the Stewards to investigate Oscar this time, at least.
What is it with Peter Windsor. Does not think much of Oscar with no comment on poor McLaren strategy. The Ferrari was a bolter and no one knew it, even the team 😂😂
McLaren strategy has always been poor especially giving points away in Hungary and insisting that the slower driver was given the race win when the only driver capable of beating verstappen in the championship lost points.
RB needs to get on top of their downforce issues. Max not being able to turn on the tires seems like a suspension issue. The handling characteristics of understeer seems like the downforce they have added has affected the handing drastically in a negative way. They need to add better front/rear downforce and increase the mechanical grip. Lastly, when will teams understand that the dirty air is a lot due to the downforce created so an early good undercut will always work !
Well done Lando glad you picked yourself up .Dought Oscar will qualify himself behind your car again though he will park behind Max instead like Russell did😅
So now where are all the fanatics who believed that Max can win in any car? NO ONE can win if the car isn't fast enough to win, unless it rains and the race is chaotic. However listening to Peter using his superlatives will make any noob believe that Max is not human. Btw Peter talked about Lewis in the same fashion several years ago when he dominated.
I am a fan of Max and clearly believe he is one of the best drivers ever, but I am with you on this one, this sport is not only about the driver, it's also about engineering and ingenuity, the machine is a big big weight on the scale of who wins and who stays behind. The better the car AND the driver combined, the better result you get, the car is a wild beast who needs a very capable tamer and viceversa.
Max can win in any car which is competitive. Switching cars with those that finish close will make him win. The RB20 didn't finish close with over 20 seconds. So yes, here I am saying that. Hi 👋
Something is obviously wrong with the Redbull car, with Verstappen finishing an astonishing 23 seconds behind Norris.😮 Also, Perez lagging behind as usual. 🙄
At the end of the season Lando is going to wish he had not been forced to give up an extra 7 points in Hungary. Nine races to go, if Lando wins all 9 and Max finishes second, Lando will get 9*7 or 63 more points. The difference in points today? 70 points.
Today Norris took the fastest lap on his old hard tires. I've seen some comment that claimed 0.6sec faster than Hamilton on the newer softs. That can be 9 extra points. When we look at the latest performance difference between the cars, It seems more likely that Norris can win every race then Verstappen getting second. That Mclaren is also way more reliable. A mistake from either one driver or team can currently make the difference. I want Verstappen to win and think he will. But it isn't done yet😉
You're forgetting we'll have another three sprint races this year, where Lando can decrease the point gap between him and Max. Additionally, if Oscar manages to finish P2 every race as well, with Lando finishing in P1 and Max finishing in P3, Lando could close the gap by 10 points per race normal weekend (or 11 if Lando gets the fastest lap), and with 12 points in total in a race weekend where we have a sprint weekend (or 13 points if he gets fastest lap on Sunday). If McLaren gets a 1-2 every (sprint) race from now on with Lando winning, hypothetically speaking, Lando could gain without the fastest laps: 6 normal race weekends * 10 points = 60 points 3 race weekends with sprint races * 12 points = 36 points Total = 60 points + 36 points = 96 points The gap between Lando and Max is 70 points currently, so if Lando wins every (sprint) race from now on with Oscar finishing in P2 in every (sprint) race and with Max finishing in P3 every time, Lando wouldn't have to get a single fastest lap for the rest of the season, AND could get another DNF in a race where Max wins, and STILL clinch the WDC with 1 point to spare🫣
The McLaren is fast, but it helps a ton that the RBR cheater device got removed. Amazing how vulnerable they are when they have to compete on a level playing field.
Historically F1 is all about gaining advantage. Didn't you know? Just a DTS noob I guess. If they were using that it wasn't cheating, no regulations were circumvented. They stopped when Fia changed the goal posts, as they are continually doing. I'd stick to tiddlywinks if I were you.
Crazy to think that McLaren would've won both championships if the FIA clamped down on Red Bulls break trick at the start of the season. Explains their superior tyre wear last year and the opening 5 races to the point where it looked like a completely different formula. I still can't believe it took other teams so long to figure it out though
Maybe just a coincidence...but wasn't Mclaren's winning ways in the late 90's (while Adrain Newey was there) undone when it was discovered they also employed asymmetrical braking such as is suspected with the RB20? And if the latter is true, might that explain Redbulls dominance from 22 thru the 1st half of 24?
asymmetrical braking - looks like it gave more even tyre wear on the RB, and without it, they're cooking tyres faster in the race. coz the RB superior tyre wear has gone. Not sure lando will be able to close the gap to Max for the champ but the McL looks like the faster car now by the tinniest amount.
As a Lando fan you can't help but acknowledge how good Max really is. Watching his onboard throughout the race the understeer he was tackling was unreal in comparison to the McLaren. McLaren strategy has always been poor especially giving points away in Hungary and insisting that the slower driver was given the race win when the only driver capable of beating verstappen in the championship lost points.
Oscar isn’t a Brit. That’s it. For Peter, there is nothing else.
They should hire you then!
@@scottjohannen2688lol I wish I studied mechanical engineering. I’m studying civil engineering instead plus working 2 jobs
Do you mean RBR Red Bull, not 'Visa ChashApp' RB?

McLaren is suddenly too good.
Lando was with upgrades and im pretty sure Oscar was with old setup
Hi 👋
Something is obviously wrong with the Redbull car, with Verstappen finishing an astonishing 23 seconds behind Norris.😮
Also, Perez lagging behind as usual. 🙄
At the end of the season Lando is going to wish he had not been forced to give up an extra 7 points in Hungary.
Nine races to go, if Lando wins all 9 and Max finishes second, Lando will get 9*7 or 63 more points.
The difference in points today? 70 points.
Fastes lap?
I want him to win the WDC but I cannot feel like it might be too many points to cover sadly. We will see if others can catch to the RB's.
If McLaren gets a 1-2 every (sprint) race from now on with Lando winning, hypothetically speaking, Lando could gain without the fastest laps:
6 normal race weekends * 10 points = 60 points
3 race weekends with sprint races * 12 points = 36 points
Total = 60 points + 36 points = 96 points
The gap between Lando and Max is 70 points currently, so if Lando wins every (sprint) race from now on with Oscar finishing in P2 in every (sprint) race and with Max finishing in P3 every time, Lando wouldn't have to get a single fastest lap for the rest of the season, AND could get another DNF in a race where Max wins, and STILL clinch the WDC with 1 point to spare🫣
@@Real_ghostboi Thank you! I stand corrected. Let's do ONE lap in Abu Dhabi to decide it all. NOT.
If RB was indeed using that brake trick they need to be punished for it and investigated for the past 2 seasons.
Mate you need to stop putting the race winner in the thumbnail....
Lando has choked more than 7 points this season. His own whining fault if he misses the championship by less than 7.
SUPERMAC SLAYS THE BULL
The McLaren is fast, but it helps a ton that the RBR cheater device got removed. Amazing how vulnerable they are when they have to compete on a level playing field.
Historically F1 is all about gaining advantage. Didn't you know? Just a DTS noob I guess. If they were using that it wasn't cheating, no regulations were circumvented. They stopped when Fia changed the goal posts, as they are continually doing. I'd stick to tiddlywinks if I were you.
@@paulaldis2970
That is categorical cheating. You clearly do not have a clue.
@paulaldis2970 what rulebook doesn't say that counts
Did Max say "Dumb" when talking about the tyres? I thought he said "Numb".
Don’t go down that path!
Got fastest lap on degraded tires against Lewis Hamilton new set ones
So what’s your point? There were a few other drivers on newer tyres that didn’t get fastest lap.
@@Enzoblueblood I guess
Thanks again bud
Congrat lando 😄😄😄👍
Crazy to think that McLaren would've won both championships if the FIA clamped down on Red Bulls break trick at the start of the season. Explains their superior tyre wear last year and the opening 5 races to the point where it looked like a completely different formula. I still can't believe it took other teams so long to figure it out though
This should have been his 4th win by my calculations
So now it appears there is another dominant car. Not two or three teams with comparable performance. Oh well.
Its on
Maybe just a coincidence...but wasn't Mclaren's winning ways in the late 90's (while Adrain Newey was there) undone when it was discovered they also employed asymmetrical braking such as is suspected with the RB20? And if the latter is true, might that explain Redbulls dominance from 22 thru the 1st half of 24?
Where does Peter get that (start) kind of telemetry detail?
Maybe his sponsor track ninja? This guy is embedded in F1.
Because Peter knows Everyone personally, and He likes Everyone except Toto Wolf.
@@stephensegal5187and Oscar Piastri
Please do not take the Jewel of the Crown at Singapore from Lewis or Goergy. Pleeeaasse...........
"Should be his third." Uh then tell him to drive better 🤷♂🤷♂
Yeah Peter ya d#$khead 😆👍
HIi peter at 2:56 you said dumb but max said Numb not dumb😂😂
asymmetrical braking - looks like it gave more even tyre wear on the RB, and without it, they're cooking tyres faster in the race. coz the RB superior tyre wear has gone. Not sure lando will be able to close the gap to Max for the champ but the McL looks like the faster car now by the tinniest amount.
But they have RB 19. That car so fast. Can not base on that
I don’t think Zandvoort is Piastri’s best track. He doesn’t seem to go well in sector 2.
Thank you Mr Windsor 🏁
Why did Lewis drop in the last few laps?
Congratulations McLaren
What the F is Red Bull doing🤦♂️
That car is a shit box
