    I'm heading off on my first post-covid run on Friday, I'm very excited but also a little nervous! Question for the q+a: do you watch other running youtubers, if so who are some of your favourites, and what do you think makes good running content?

    So awesome to see you back & (largely) adhering to your own advice!!🤣 I’ve found whenever I’ve had a forced break, it has make me fall in love with running all over again when I get back to it…& (more often than not), most definitely a grind to get back…”not easy” & suffering somewhat is type 2 fun for runners, right?!🤣
    Hair hack update…awesomeness!!! It even survived hill sprints!!! I need to work on floof control tho🤣very similar hair to yours…the floof is REAL!!!🤣😂🤣😂

    I was exactly like this when I was ill. Obviously didn’t have to get back to a competitive standard, but it was still driving me crackers ( doesn’t take a lot). Love the myomasters, but could never afford to splash out like that. They have some brilliant reviews though. Good to see you back out there ☺️

    Question(s) for next week: do you use a HR strap / arm band or just watch? And do you train “with” HR or “by” HR? In other words, do you come back from a run and check the data and then form an opinion, or do you run according to what your HR is during that run? Follow up question would be - is your answer different for different types of run (track session, threshold session, easy run etc etc)?
    Sorry, a question turned into a dissertation topic lol

    • @PhilyBowden
      @PhilyBowden  2 года назад

      Just the watch, used to use a strap but when I got my new watch with it built in I wore both (with my old watch too) for a few runs and the HR was very accurate on the wrist - it was the same stats as the strap.
      I don’t pay too much attention to the HR, just good to have it there to see where it settles for easy vs tempo vs race pace etc.

    Thanks for this series. I had been training for a marathon (still might run it; may run the half instead) when I hit a buckle on a sidewalk and caught concreted sidewalk with my face, breaking my nose). I am sad about that but you suggested decent coping strategies that are keeping me from making my injury worse.

    Gee, a smart runner. I ran through Covid. Had about 3 weeks ago. Same symptoms. Still rare cough. Fatigue is worst part but you are way younger than I. It slowly passes but still dealing with it. Good luck. Like the videos for some bizarre reason.

    I am struggling with my weight, cant stop losing kgs even though i eat a lot so i am trying out different things to sort it out hence the question....
    Q: You made "what i eat in a day" and talked a lil bout eating disorder, but could you give some more info about your nutrition, calories count if you do, how strict are you, carb loading, proteins, healthy food and stuff like that?
    Thanks and love it!

    • @PhilyBowden
      @PhilyBowden  2 года назад

      I don’t count calories at all and just really eat when I’m hungry! I try to make sure I get plenty of carbs to fuel my runs and after, plus a decent amount of protein and fats from things like oily fish and avocados. Due to my past with eating issues it’s best if I focus on what I like to eat and not overcomplicate it too much

    I'm kinda proud of myself. My first activity back from Covid was a 30 minute walk! Then a little longer the next day, then a little bike ride, then I might have gone for it. Haha, I couldn't wait any longer!

    Questions:

    Question - What motivates you when you are down or don't want to get out the door?
    Question - Do you suffer from SAD (Seasonal affective disorder) in the Winter months? If so what strategy do you use to get out of the funk?

    • @PhilyBowden
      @PhilyBowden  2 года назад

      I remind myself what I’m training for and the high moments - so recent wins or significant achievements and upcoming goals. I know if I slack off I won’t be putting my all into getting the best result so that helps.. and reminding myself once I’m out the door it’s always better!
      I don’t suffer from SAD but I do dread the runs in the dark because it’s just not as nice

    Hi Phily ! First, thanks for your amazing content ! ^^ ❤
    I have a question for the Q&A : I have a few running goals thant I want to train for. But I also like swimming and climbing (which btw I think are good ways of cross training). Do you think it is possible to train towards specific running goals and still be practising those other activites on the side? For example, do you think it is possible to create a HM training plan that includes swimming and climbing? Or is it too much and I should focus on just running ? Thannnx ! ☺

    Phily, sending best wishes for your comeback post Covid!! The grass looks brown! How bad is the heat?! Question: What shoes are your daily runners? Also, on running form, should I be concentrating more on lifting knees or on leg kick back. What's your opinion? Thank you.

    • @PhilyBowden
      @PhilyBowden  2 года назад

      It’s been very very dry! My daily runners are the New Balance 1080s. I’d say knee drive to start with, best way to improve running form is to focus on running drills that imitate good form and doing fast strides after runs - form tends to
      Be better when running fast whilst under control, hope that helps!

    Great video and I applaud your ability to follow your own advice (even if it was not easy). Question:
    I recently set a PB in the 10K but felt like I could have run faster. How do you find that extra gear in a race and give your maximum effort?

    • @PhilyBowden
      @PhilyBowden  2 года назад

      I can’t really describe it but it just comes from the adrenaline! I definitely get nervous before races so I think that helps, so if you don’t get nervous find a goal that scares you or that you can invest in and maybe that will help! Other than that just focus on picking off as many people as possible
