A nice EV by all accounts and I love the fact that there are so many colors to choose from. The Achilles Heel of the car, though, is the lack of a DC fast charger (such as CCS or Chademo) even as an option. But for MANY people this will not be a problem unless they want to go on trips longer than its range. Waiting several hours at a charging station might be inconvenient on a long trip, but for going back and forth to work (assuming you work within about 30 miles of your house, allowing for the HVAC energy draw) it's perfect. The 2020 500e does have DC fast charging and a bigger battery (finally!), but it is only going to be available in Europe.
Oh, also wanted to say that these cars are a STEAL if you buy them used! You can easily find them online in great condition with low miles, etc for under $8000.
These are fantastic. I leased (2-year) one of these back in October of last year, and although the 20,000mi isn't quite enough for a lot of people to use as a commuter car every day, it was just too good of a deal to pass up ($99/mo). Although I love just about everything with this car, I have to agree about the display and climate control. The only option for fresh, unaltered air (meaning no use of a compressor or electric heater) is opening the windows, which will increase the air resistance. Being a small EV and not having a large range, streamlining the car becomes a bigger factor than a gas car as far as range/day. An option for fresh air, besides opening the windows, is probably one of my biggest drawbacks of the car. As battery prices drop, vehicles like these are just going to make more sense to the everyday American. It already makes so much sense to me now, but it's understandable that a lot of people don't see the justification at this point.
To get fresh air in this car you have to push the a.c. button twice(the Orange light will not be kit for a.c. or off). The air is still on but the compressor is not on, then drop the temperature as low as it goes to prevent it from heating the air and you are left with fresh air straight from the outside. It also uses very little power despite that your mileage still goes down on the estimate because it thinks you are still using the a.c. but you aren't. This method works great to defog Windows without using barely any power.

Jacob, Thank you so much for this! I had a feeling that the compressor might not be on if you make sure the AC isn't lit, but I had no real way of confirming besides "listening in to see if it's on" (of which I tried and couldn't not distinguish and "click-on" of it through the relay, so I dropped that strategy). Good to know there's a way to use less power, regardless of the milage readout on the dash.
Jacob Dykstra - Excellent info to come across. I was going to wire a switch directly to the fan to toggle it on without the a/c, but this will work just as well. Wish they had put the signal sensor that lowers the miles on the compressor and heat circuit instead of on the fan, cheap bastards....
There is an option for fresh air, you actually had fresh air pumping out of the air vents right when you said that there was no way xD. The button with the little car with the arrow inside (the air recycling option), has to be turned off, so it's in outside air intake (the orange light off), and, you also have to have the AC button off, that way, you are taking air from the outside, and not using the AC, therefore, you are experiencing the so called "fresh air" you wanted!
Sorry, I guess that is not possible. These 500e were built in Mexico and basically a compliance electric car for California. You couldn't even get them through a dealer in e.g. New York. Although my car after the lease went to South Texas and I have seen one in Europe. And now there is one in Italy? That is wonderful. This would have been an ideal ev for the narrow streets in any historic city.
@@angelodambrosio5142 It's been a couple of years since we had our little orange 500e; naturally it could be hacked but best send a message to this group for assistance: myfiat500e.com/forum/index.php
These were compliance vehicles for the state of California (that means that Fiat had to produce and sell a specific amount here to continue selling their regular gas guzzlers). They just announced their new 2020 Fiat e for UK - so there is a chance you might get them in the future
Pointless back seats This would be a great platform for a Dodge A100 pickup reboot as a mini EV trucklet. Just push the cab to the front over and past the front axel and the bed all the way past the rear wheel wells. Upright front bench seating for 3 adults. With the right height and lean forward would be a sporty and retro looking trucklet.
Thanks for review!
Great little electric car.
Nice city cr or for a student. Very economical.

No one needs a tom tom we all have smartphones
I think the fresh air button is the window button 😎

Great video. Very helpful!
wish they sold everywhere else but California
leider nein !
is this a good used car to buy? I just want to go 10 miles on a daily basis.
For 10 miles on a daily drive it is really a great car; just watch out that you don't overpay.
That's not a "charger" in the back, it's an EVSE. I often use the terms "charge cable."
Interesting fella
Sehr schön gemacht, auch wenn ich nicht alles verstehe !

@@evsplussolar958 So even if I install a 7 inch Uconnect can I set the Italian, or is there one way, at least on the car radio?

@@potatochobit so have you gotten one? How is it?
@@prettykitty5416 no, I bought a 124 spider and I will probably buy the new toyota GR86
this is street legal ... is it road legal too? could we drive it on other states roads in the USA?
yes, you can; the Fiat has a 4 year general warranty / 50,000 miles. Used one go for about $5000-$9000 (3 year old) - get additional warranty
I even just bought one for the Netherlands !
Why didn't Australia get these?
