Originally brought to market in California and Oregon as a compliance vehicle, the fiat 500e has become one of the best commuter cars available on the used market. - Авто/Мото
The dog is by far the best part of this video.
This is the best summation of the 500e on you tube. The only thing I would add is how pissed people get when you kick the crap out of them at a light because they are insulted by the fact that they were beaten by a Fiat. I put 17X7 light Sparcos with Michelin Pilot Sports and the car handles like a beast. Biggest critique is range.
Same! I’m saving $500 in gas a month from driving my Fiat 500e over my full size truck for the last 4 years. It’s so reliable and hasn’t had anything replaced except tires. So damn practical!
This is an awesome little car. Unfortunately I missed out in buying this before prices doubled, and one of these now cost 12 to 16k here in nj.
I think when prices come down this one's going to drop hard as more used longer-range EVs become available

I purchased a '16 with a sunroof. I resent my trip odometer every day on my Accord and realized I could let it go. Drove 60 miles a day to work and few miles afterward. Worked for me in the winter here in Chicago. I charge with 120v at my condo parking space and electric is included in my assessment..Best Car Ever!
Mine was $8K in 2018, the price has gone up from that, in S. California.
Freeway range is more like 50-55 mi. I agree hills really eat energy & you don't recover much on the downhill.
Custom wheels cut your range. I wouldn't lower it, the front lip scrapes at stock height.
It can fit an 8-ft board.
The trunk organizer that holds the charger can be removed, 4 bolts, gives you more cargo space.
88 miles per hour is perfect to make it into a time machine. 😁
I own a 2015 and love it. Haven't bought any gasoline for a while.
I swear you exclusively review cars I've owned and driven haha. These cars were nice! And torquey off the line
Our first EV car. It's a great car, looks great, fun to drive. It's good for taking kids to/from schools, grocery shopping/errands. We finally let it go a few weeks ago as it was a lease. Unfortunately this model is no longer available here. The 2022 model looks even better imo, with a lot more range and features. Would have bought one if they brought them here.
I’ve been driving a 2016 Fiat 500e around Los Angeles for a few months. I’m likely going to tow it and keep it when I move across country later this year because it’s just way too fun and economical.
Good to see you you're still posting and well, take care!
Thank you!
Great review and great analysis! Also, very good advices. Thank you!
thank you for this thorough and concise review. Love the dog energy as well!
dont forget to get your dog friend a harness so he doesnt fly when you brake hard or crash. safety first
If the dog likes it, I like it. Thanks for the helpful review!
Hello! 👋🏻 After watching this video, I did some research and found out that there were already several imported 500e cars in Mexico City. I've had mine for 2 years now, and I'm happy with it. Thank you very much, Zent! 🙏🏼
Same here...tired of seeing cross over evs. I can't wait to see smaller hot hatches or even a 2 seater sports car that's under 30k and with decent range.
There's the Tesla 2 Hatchback named the Baby Tesla with the price to be around half the price of a Tesla 3 at 25k. Before '24, highly unlikely.
do as i ddid: buy a fiet 500e 50 kmh in 3 secons, 100 in eight. permanent macimum torque at ay speed.. 199 miles range, 85 kW charging, 80% SoC within 25 minutes.range in urban trafffic 250 miles- 0-20 kmh (vity limit) in 3 secondda. . enough room fr singles or couples. cheep to drive ahat morte do you want. go and get one, it ist the highestselling elctric vehicle here, guess why?!
Thanks for this video! I am now in the hunt for my new daily
I always enjoy your videos. You're very good a car reviews even though that is not the main focus of this channel
I appreciate that!
great review! just bought mine!!!
After paying the fuel costs on my cammed Z06 and lifted Gx470...I may have to buy another car featured on your channel lol
What are the gas prices like where you live?
@@ZentRose Texas lookin at 2.67 avg
Great video! I love these 500s, this vid made me subscribe:)
I got my 2014 about six years ago in Texas for not much more than the price mentioned in the title of this video. I have no idea why the dealership down here was selling them so cheaply, but it has been an amazing car and a wonderful bargain. I can’t recommend them enough if they can still be picked up for these super cheap prices.
Great overview! I’ll be getting one!
I saw these for about 5-7k before pandemic, i should have bought one for a daily commuter.
Solid review.
I've had my 2015 FIAT 500E since 2018...LOVE, love, love this car.
Good review bro. Totally agree with your last statement.
Love your dog. ❤
I just bought a 2015 fiat 500e like 3months ago I love it fun to drive and I save a lot of money on not paying for gas and I have a 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe I love it too but my fiat is way better driving around town but when I have to drive far I take my jeep 4xe But the fiat 500e is the best and cheapest EV car you can buy and I been seeing alot of people buying these lil cars 🚗
Hey! I recently reviewed the 2022 Fiat 500e in my channel! I must say that whilst its true EVs are mainly for the city, its also a question of price! A brand new Fiat 500e is like 30k here in Belgium, which is too much if you compare to models competing in that price (like a VW Golf)! But amazing video! I am surprised you have a taste for the Fiat 500e! I always thought in North America is was all about massive engines, cruising and innovative techs!
Greetings from Belgium!
Pretty cool! I grabbed something a bit more boring to drive but super fuel efficient 2020 prius prime. Got bored of the fuel efficient non grippy tires and put on some Firehawk indy500 on 18x7.5 work wheels. Icing on the cake is bringing my charger to work and using their electricity to charge. I've saved so much money in the past year and half.
Free charging is the best!
Just bought one. I have a Taycan and this one for my city / work commute.
88 mph?! Great Scott!
Let me tell you why that isn't a problem if you drive it to Twin Pines Mall and do 88 mph in the parking lot...
👍😆
Great Review! Just bought one in Portugal imported from the US and it has been amazing! I just subbed the taillights to the newer 500 and abarth wheels. Which lowering springs did you install?
Sadly, I forgot about the 500e last year because now they are 3 times that price in the northeast.
How cute is your dog!
I don't know where you got one for $5000. I have a 2017 that cost 33K new and I got it for 10K last year. I love it.
Nice review! Today I bought my 500e 2018 here in the Netherlands. I really like the car. The car is pretty ‘high’, how did you lowered it and how many mm? Cheers
I too would like to know how to lower it. I wonder if the Abarth gas model has sportier springs/coilovers that can be installed. I want to buy a 500e and add Abarth parts for some different styling
@@goostador look at some forums to get some ideas. From what I’ve read abarth suspension is not good for the 500e due to the weight. Doesn’t ride good from what I read
I'd be able to drive that for just over a month back and forth to work 6 days a week since I'm round try just under 3 miles. I put a tank of gas in my truck once every two month, 4 months for my BMW Z3M and 3-4 month on my Honda motorcycle. I would drive that since 1 day a week is my long drive days leaving town. Need to take my Z3M for a drive...
You're right. It's more for city and commuting that the EV cars come into their own. No need for all the unnecessary power and such. When they sort out battery range etc then longer traveling will be great. But at the moment city driving is the main use of the EV.
Mmmmmm I drive mine to work 40 miles round trip with no issues I think 40 mile round trip is safe spot.
I’m building a new home myself, and the commute is 39 miles from my current house. It’s all highway, and I can plug in using a normal outlet while working on the house say for 6-8 hours.
Would that commute be possible with one of these? Also, if I’m charging all day, and then would have to charge at night. Is that really bad for it?
It really hums pretty loud. Wheel bearings going out? Or do they all hum really loud?
My work has EV charging. If I ever have to go back in from WFH I'm buying one of these
What rims and tires are you using? Did you need to do anything fancy to get the rims to fit? If I remember correctly, the bolt pattern on these cars is 4x98 so putting on 4x100 rims takes a bit more effort. I forget what the normal offset is though. Thanks
I considered one of these about 5 years ago. The deal breaker is range. 50, 55 miles (then about 20 reserve miles) and you are out of fuel. Wish they would have built this with something a bit over 100 mile range and it would have worked for our situation. The '24 model has a claimed 165 mile range. That'll be much more practical... now if you could buy one for under $30k. Ain't happenin'.
what wheel/tire setup did you go with? specs would be appreciated
It’s April 2022 and the cheapest 500e is a 2013 with over 60k miles for $9500! Wow!
Yeah I think gone are the days of cheap off lease 500e cars
So what is the range? Can you gain ground clearance by using taller wheels/tires? What year is this car? Most importantly where do you get it for $5000.?? Can it work with a solar roof charger?
I just bought a 2017 Fiat 500e. It is in California, but I am in Pennsylvania waiting a week for delivery.
My question is about the size of the roof. I thought of getting a flexible BougeRV CIGS 100W solar panel that lays flat on the roof to recharge an EcoFlow Delta 2 1000wHr solar generator and then schedule to recharge my 500e early in the morning. I don't drive much and can't plug in at home.
Would a 44" x 35" panel fit on the roof? I guess only one 100W could fit. The wires would enter at the back hatch and the J 1772 charger would come out of the passenger side window.
Does my idea seem plausible? It might offset preheating the car battery in cold weather.
Someone was getting restless, bored and eventually decided to take a nap cause you never mentioned treats and dog parks.
So I had a question you said in your video that you got to rebate for this electric car even if it's used you still get a rebate? And do you still get the stickers to put on your vehicle to drive on the freeway carpool lane still for a used vehicle? And did yours come with the TomTom GPS and if so did you like using it?
Please let us know about this rebate! Hope a video is made about this topic 😃
I plan to use solar panels to charge an Ecoflow Delta 2 solar generator. Charge it during the day and charge the car in the morning. I'll leave it plugged in, so the scheduler can do it everyday. I expect 4 miles a day per kilowatt.
Cool dog
What size wheels and tires are you running? Thanks
I'm sure they're great and am thinking about getting one but I wouldn't be reassured by Bosch parts. Have you ever worked on one of their appliances?
Looking for one now 😃
Hi doggo! The range anxiety keeps me from getting one. I exclusively almost drive my Abarth in LA because traffic and parking.
The Abarth is a ton of fun. Enjoy!
When did you buy this and where? They're around 12k now in 2023, still a decent deal I guess.
What kind of Rims are those? 😮 aftermarket with the fiat center caps?
Miata wheels with fiat stickers on the center cap
Yes, 5k is a pipe dream now ...
I miss having my 500e, I do hope gen 2 is a huge improvement
I couldn’t get the year model. Does someone know? Great video, thanks!

I'm going to buy 1
what is the specs of the wheels and tire?
Could you tell me what year Miata wheels are these? Model #? Tire size?
Beautiful dear you and your car and surrounding
Hey! I'm looking to pickup a 500e as well, but I was curious, did you change the suspension on yours in addition to the wheels/tire? If so, what did you get?
Yes I lowered it with coil-overs and put Advanti storm 15x8 wheels on it.
@@ZentRose Any issues fitting those wheels? The fiat bolt pattern is a little different than a miata isn’t it?
@@longshanks23 yes you need variable pcd lug bolts and a hub centric ring
@@ZentRose what suspension did you put on it?
@@ZentRose I have to assume the rims are 4 x 100 bolt pattern? So 'wobble nuts' were used and a centering ring? The stance looks great! We have a 2016 500e and love it, but I really would like to fix the gap!! Thanks, keep up the great work!
Considering one of these for a city commuter. Prices now are up, found a 2015 with 34k miles for $11.5k, and that seems to be the best 'deal'. At what point do these become not as great a deal considering our current situation across the country?
Hey Ryan, the point for me is around $8k where it isn't worth it because of alternative budget gas options. It is annoying that the price went up on these cars.
@@ZentRose hey, what would be one of those alternatives?
@@ZentRose
The cheapest ones I see on the market right now are around $8900 with 50k-80k miles on it.
Lower 30k or below miles
average price is $15k & up
I want that but what year is it__? I'm seeing $13-$15K for 2017-18s in Orange County CA. Where should I be looking for $6K __??
I really want to get one of these, but then rip out any unnecessary weight, stuff a few super capacitors in it and see if I can beat sports cars at the traffic light.
Boy would I love to have an electric fiat for in town driving.
bosch makes the power train sign me up!
Great city car. Perfect second car if it’s just you and a passenger. I don’t think I will ever buy another gas car.
Kinda funny that Fiat limited this car to 88mph. Doc Brown's time traveling De Lorean needed to be able to reach 88mph to break the time barrier.
Good review. I’d recommend a seatbelt for your dig friend. It’s a harness that attaches to the seatbelt in the car and will stop your dog getting brain damage, broken limbs or a smashed in skull. Just saying.
Its $12,455 for a silver 2017 500E with 33k miles in NYC. Is that a good deal?
You never mentioned what the range was when fully charged. And does it have fast charging capabilities?
I have a 2016 and it has level 2 fast charging capabilities. I live in Z Loss Angeles so I don’t have a charger at home. I only use a public level 2 ChargePoint charger.
From the factory, mine has an 87 mile range on a full charge. Driving with a lead-foot, using the a/c or heater, and driving up steep hills will lower that amount.
If you buy a used EV, just make sure there is not much battery degradation. Mine probably only gets 75 miles or so on a full charge because the battery doesn’t seem to have full capacity anymore. But I still love it. I love love love not paying for gas and it’s really fun to drive!!
Will there be a upgrade for longer miles battery? So that you have to charge it everyday and longer driving.
Maybe never
What are the wheel specs? I'd like to know the width and offset.
" When this baby hits 88 miles per hour - you're gonna see some serious ( ____ ) "
I got a speeding ticket clocked in at 86mph 😆
Prices are higher now, but there is a $4,000 Federal Tax Credit now.
Expect to buy a 2017 Fiat 500e with sport edition and 19,000 miles for $11,000 tomorrow.
It is a California car and it costs $1200 to ship to Philly.
Tax credit is only when you buy new, correct?

Where can I buy 1 like this ..?
Question- I have a friend who lives 92 miles away from me. So I would get 90% of the way to her house and then have to stop and charge my car for two hours when I’m 15 minutes away??😭
92 Miles is pretty far. The 500e could easily do 92 miles… at 35 to 50mph but not at highway speeds. The 500e is not the right choice if you need to drive that far regularly. For an occasional thing the extra hour of charging is no big deal
Try looking for a 2017 or 2018 Ford Focus Electric
ium very interested in thsi car! i live in an apartment with on street parking BUT 60 miles of range would hold me for 4 days before i need to figure it out and go charge somewhere
People are driving illegally at 88, that’s nuts! I’m considering a 2018 my friend has with 14,000 miles. I’ll need to figure out if I’ll save a lot. I drive 3700 miles a year. I spend $70 a year on an oil change. My 15 manual Scion XB has 47k miles on it. I could sell it for approximately $13000. If I can buy his for $6500 range? Maybe I should consider it, but I don’t see a huge savings in maintenance gas with my total driving. I have a VW Cabrio I dr about 900 mikes in summer (short in PNW) and a 92 GTI 16v I have owners since 98, and just can’t give it up. I doubt I fill it more than 4 times a year. I guess I would sell the convertible, since the 500e has a SR. But boy do I love it in summer. Granted, I might not care as much because I’d live driving the 500e so much and living not paying for gas! It would lead me to dump more cars…
Whats the realistic range?
How much did you buy sir?
My mom has one of these, its surprisingly zippy. I prefer driving my car, but I dont mind running into town in the fiat if an opportunity presents itself.
What bulbs did you end up using for better headlight?
I got some led bulbs off of amazon
I’m just 17 trying to get an inexpensive car that isn’t to big cuz I get nervous and I’m convinced 😄
If you want a small inexpensive car check out scion it's a discontinued brand by Toyota that Toyota still has support for
Since the brand is discontinued the prices are lower than normal Toyotas and they are extremely reliable
But if you don't want a scion try looking for a chevy spark or a mitsubishi mirage both can be found dirt cheap
Volkswagen beetles are also a good choice
@@thegodhoward8037 wow thank you I just looked into a Chevy spark and a scion they both seem like a good option
I just saw this car at 19880$ with 15,800 miles. Not cheap any more
Yoooo were you driving around in Orange County 😮
Yes
I had one of these, fully loaded in orange with the sunroof. I aded LEDs to mine, as well as a carplay head unit. It was a VERY fun car, but I just wish it had more range and power.
Living in the midwest, the car became uselss for me in the winter and I sold it. I really do miss it. Thinking of getting an Abarth model (which would solve my complaints of power and range), but it won't be the same as driving an EV.
Nice video of the doggie... wait there is a car?

Dumb question. What about tire rotations?
Don't you still need to rotate tires every 5000 miles?
As someone that needs a vehicle for a 100 mile round trip commute, (and can only charge at work ideally), is this a vehicle that makes sense?
I've been looking at a miata, but as I'll need to do 2000 miles A MONTH, fuel is still expensive for it (out of my monthly budget).
You can’t rotate the tires on a 500e due to the front and rear having different offsets .
Hey man! So i see a 2015 Fiat E for 11k with 36k mile in my area, I drive a 2019 Kia Forte but payments are around 400 a month with insurance. This Fiat is cheaper payments and seems cheaper all together, would it be worth it?
I would keep the kia personally
