Well he’s wrong about a few brands such as MINI for one.
I know their designs have become weirder than they once were. But crowded cities buy their cars like crazy, because of their size and ability to easily parallel park.
Try Toronto Canada for example, go downtown and tell me how many brand new minis you see in one block.
However, I agree Fiat as a brand is going bankrupt, rarely see them around. Alfa Romeo, seems to be doing quite well in my city any way, So i dunno about US.

Fold the rear seats down permanently, call it a two seater, and there is plenty of storage. We did 29K miles on the first one (2014 model) and now 69K miles on the 2nd one (a 2017 model). Zero maintenance and zero repairs over the 98K total miles other than some upholstery issues on the seats. The electrical stuff is all Bosch. They should have called it the Bosch 500 and it would have sold better. High five to Bosch. The ownership experience was so good that I would consider the new 500e if the deal was right, and in a few months or a year, it might be. The early 500e's were not great as an only car, but they make GREAT second cars. It's really been one of my favorite cars ever and I've owned some pretty nice stuff.

10 years ago, $35k was "nice medium-highish price".
Heck, *20* years ago the Prius could be specced above $35k (as my 2004 Prius was bought for $30k, because we didn't bother with the extra $5000 that only got a couple fairly-useless extra features - HomeLink garage door control (no garage,) a tape deck (and theoretically better speakers,) and a navigation system that would become laughably outdated quickly; which it was.)

Come on, the Fiat deserves a higher feature score! Even you admitted that the regular screen and gauge cluster screen were pretty dang good! I know you just don't want to give the 500E a better overall score, but credit where credit is due! I'm ashamed!

The exit sound on our 500e La Prima is a sad sound as if the car is sad you are leaving :) Sounds like the door sound the "Hitchikers guide to the galaxy" oh I forgot it also makes happy sound when you get in and plays a classical music when you start driving from the outside to warn others I think...
The doors have a latch on the lower side for manual opening
The handle area is for the key fob
The protrution on the front end is one of the signal lights on ours :)
Ours also have a third door :) You seem to be missing one on the right hand side ;)
It is a very fun car to have and I am pretty much a gear head. Great city car and everyone loves it in our household.
In Sherpa mode it will do 300kms in city limits the car at 80km/h. for highway driving and I drive it like a mad man It does 175km Thats doing max speed when ever possible...
Fast charge it will do it in 20 mins from 25 to 80 percent
Also you seem to be missing the moonroof. Yeah looks like US got the low tech versions... Sorry....

That’s the problem with some car companies, they’re making cheap cars aimed to people who don’t need them or want them, like Doug says “to be used as third car for smaller trips”. Thriving car companies make practical, reliable vehicles for people that see cars as a necessary tool, not as a toy.
