      One of my favorite fan theories is that Little Carmine is actually putting on a front the whole time that he's dumb and lets the others like Phil and Johnny Sack duke it out. He stays away from overt violence the whole time but he's consistently shown as having a lot of money and being eager to move into more legit business like he does with Chris and the movie studio and Hollywood stuff.
      When the series ends he'd be in one of the best positions to take over and consolidate power in New York and Jersey. Everyone else is mostly dead, in jail or broke or some combination of that. He'd have more money and influence than anybody and soldiers and captains would flock to him for work.

       @markschade6951 I get it but I don't really believe that theory because I think one of the recurring themes in the Sopranos is that being the son of a made guy makes you grow up spoiled and immature. Little Carmine seemed like he was supposed to be the adult version of AJ and Jackie Jr.

    Love how haunting that final sit down is. What once took place over warm rambunctious dinners with wine, now take place in the freezing cold in a junkyard hanger with bottled water. It really does show the decay of the mob

    • @memelord6335
      @memelord6335 9 месяцев назад +56

      Not the case at all, because the mob didn't decay, even in real life the mob is still very powerful if not just as powerful, rather the final sitdown was supposed to show that they aren't as untouchable as they think, because like you said in your comment their normal sit-downs take place in high-class location over delicious food and wine because these guys have power and can do things like that while on the other hand the final sit-down takes place in the hangar while in the cold while drinking water bottles because they're in the middle of a war the outside party such as other street gangs or separate families can easily take advantage and try to take him out during this sit down so they have to choose a location where they can be safe, so rather than showing the decay of the mob that scene was actually trying to show you The Not So Glamorous side of that lifestyle

    Butchie pulled the strings. The final episode, and the final scene had Butchie written all over it. He tried to push Phil into killing Tony very early on. When Phil was out of the picture, Butchie decided Tony had to go. He even set up the Doc hit.
    I've heard so many different conspiracies around the Sopranos ending, but the one that makes the most sense is that Butchie had tony killed. Tony pointed a gun in his face, Butchie wouldn't let that slide. The fact that Jersey took out Phil justified Tony getting whacked. They basically laid out what they wanted to do. Take out upper management... Tony, Silvio, and Bobby. That sit down NJ had with NY was a ploy with the added benefit of taking Phil out of the equation.

If we got a peek into the future of the Soprano family (after the finale), I wouldn't be surprised if Paulie had some knowledge about what was going on... maybe he became the boss.

    Tony's biggest mistake was not killing Butchie right then when he went to beat up Coco. He had the gun pointed right at him - finger on the trigger (and I think there was a reason Chase shows us that). Butchie was the one that ultimately put out the hit on Tony after becoming boss of the Lupertazzi family

    • @TheCartman997
      @TheCartman997 9 месяцев назад +18

      No way could Tony get a pass on killing Butchie. New York would instantly go after the entire crew, and they would have serious motivation behind it. It's different when Phil gets a boner and orders the hits. It's just the Boss overreacting. Butchie was probably high ranking (Capo at the very least) and definitely had lots of guys who supported him. They would be thirsty for blood.

She gets beat up by goons for stealing the lady's prosthetic leg, Tony beats up the goon. Bobby gets wacked, Tony sees to it she gets compensated. Although most of these moves were to maintain Tony's reputation as a person to be respected and feared, she always benefited, lol.

      Neither Janice nor Carmella had a single redeeming quality. Both played helpless when necessary, had no values, were total derivatives of the men in their lives. And were able to inflict guilt on their significant others just like Livia did to Tony. Carmella's total stupidity when dealing with AJ was a sin; when Tony tried to instill till some common sense discipline she destroyed Tony. Carmella and Janice ALWAYS played one person against another in every situation. And they were both completely insecure and were unable to mature in any way. Carmella's schoolgirl fixation with Furio was pathetic. The guys used violence to settle grievances; these two lived for the petty jealousies. ...just as evil, just not as violent. You can tell these women were based on Chase's real-life family experiences ....as a first-generation Italian, watching the maternal drama on this show is absolutely spot-on.

    I didn’t realize how much of a war mongerer butchie was. I don’t see things going well for that family after Phil died, they had a run of great leaders. Carmine, John, and Phil ,even though he went crazy with vengeance and got himself killed. Nevertheless he was a stand up guy who demanded respect, was decisive, and knew how to flex his muscles. Butchie will run that family into the ground. They already look weak due to losing the war against the “glorified crew” Dimeo family. As for the Dimeos, I like to think Silvio comes out of his coma and makes Paulie his consiligere. Silvio for the mafia chess match and Paulie as his strong right arm. Both of those guys are seasoned veterans and were much less ambitious than Tony and Junior, and ambition seemed to lead to nothing but trouble throughout the show. Hopefully they got it running back to how Jackie ran it. Try to keep the peace, make sure everybody eats, and keep their noses out of New York and away from the five families.

    so...after not wanting to wack tony earlier by saying stuff about how its wrong to wack a boss...now he switches to carmine sr. concept of considering the new jersey family as nothing more than a "glorified crew" thus deranking tony as a "boss" but more of as a capo of a large family....so now he can live with putting a hit out on tony since he no longer considers him to be a real "boss" of a family.

    What if Butchie was the snitch informing the FBI?
    One of those 3 in the room with Phil - when considering wacking Tony - was the snitch.
    That same snitch told agent Harris which gas station they'd find Phil.

    @ 18:50 They didn't want to re-shoot the scene, so they went with it. The guy was supposed to walk away when he was signaled to walk away but he forgot and even says out loud "fuck it's too cold" then turns around and walks away. He wasn't supposed to hear the phone call. I love spotting these mess ups.
