By not demanding huge cuts like gotti, loyalty was shown in abundance to less greedy bosses like the chin, massino, and Costello.

His crew would know his son depended on the crack and that would make it easy for them to track him down. But also the cops wanted him to take Ray's place as a major asset. He was being squeezed from both sides now. In truth, the crow in the window was as much a bad-sign for him as it was for Chris.

Eugene should've said his aunt left him an inheritance of property that can only be owned or sold to blood family members only according to the will. This way he could go about his business, even start a farm if he wanted to & give anthony a cut every month or quarter. He would be away from NJ & NY & retire low key...at most they would call him for a hit & since he would be from outta town it would make more sense
I don't think the show confirmed one way or another, but it's likely the FBI had nothing on Eugene and he instead approached them with cooperating in exchange for witness protection. So his plan was either Tony let's him go willingly or the FBI smuggles him out. The FBI probably couldn't stop Eugene if he just left. I do think Gene's mistake though was not just risking it and leaving anyways. We know that the NJ mob's reach is surprisingly weak and Gene could have just moved far enough and they wouldn't track him. Asking to get witness protectioned to Florida is dumb though. We know for sure the mob has contacts in Florida. That is one of the least safe places for a snitch.

One of my least favorite characters, along with his stupid wife: who did she think she was marrying? A hockey player? Also the whole subplot of him wooing Tony with money and watches was utterly ridiculous because the whole time he was an FBI rat who was never going to be allowed to go to FL by them, even if Tony had agreed. So, I’m not a fan of ’Member’s Only’ in terms of Eugene’s plot line, but it does give us an incredible death-by-hanging scene!

Also the whole subplot of him wooing Tony with money and watches was utterly ridiculous because the whole time he was an FBI rat who was never going to be allowed to go to FL by them, even if Tony had agreed.
So, I’m not a fan of ’Member’s Only’ in terms of Eugene’s plot line, but it does give us an incredible death-by-hanging scene!
