Another idea- maybe do a book cover WITH the book! Like if someone asks for hunger games (using as an example) make it so it's big enough for that book specifically and maybe match the crocheted cover to the book cover!
Anyone who works in a big office knows that one or few people who's hands are ice cold. My friend Penny wears fingerless gloves sometimes when she is typing. Those tubular ones would be even better because you would have more movement.
Tubular mittens with personal note like your comment will suggest you're thinking about that person wellbeing and the gift would be even more appreciate.

I saw a similar pattern a few years ago and thought of doing it in Strawberry Shortcake ( the doll) colors (various greens for the background) for 40ish year old relatives because they loved Strawberry Shortcake as kids... What do you think? Accent pieces for 45 year olds in their reading nooks so they can reminisce about their childhood?

@@anna-greene Yeah, I think I'll put on my detective hat and just try to use shoes and socks. The tricky part with socks is that most yarn isn't as stretchy, so shoes seems like my best option. Thanks for the quick reply!
