I had a black r5 gt turbo (F682RNR) when I was in my 20’s god I loved that thing! I’m 50 now and have been looking at them on autotrader I know I shouldn’t but nostalgia is a hell of thing. Lovely little car, do it proud ✌️
Awesome to hear @keithhill6490 these little motors seem to hold fond memories for a lot of people, including yourself! We'll certainly do our best to bring her back to life and hope you enjoy following along 👍
I also had a red 5GT Turbo back in the 90’s F220MOO, owned it for about 7 years. Kept it standard, fortunately my brother was a Renault technician so any issues he took care of it. Absolutely loved it.
I got mine at 19, a tungsten grey one G220PGT with Raider interior - blue seats, grey carpets and blue leather door cards! Still miss it nearly 30 years later!
My first car was a D plate 5 turbo, light grey in colour but it had been painted, from that moment on I was hooked! Between the ages of 17 and 25 I had 8 different 5 turbos and each one had there faults but it didn’t bother me, I would just repair it and have myself back on the road the same day. Easily 50% of them had clutch issues and the other 50% was head gasket problems but again it wouldn’t put me off.
In 1999 i bought my 1st red GT turbo for £1200....i then swapped my Sierra Saphire for 1 the same as this 1 so had 2...wish I'd kept both....fantastic cars.....
How is this coming along? I adore these cars, I dream to own one someday. It's horrible to see it in such a sad state 😢, I can see it's in good hands though and I'm very much looking forward to seeing the series featured on this restoration
Hey @Jamie7ee Episode Two will be coming in less than two weeks so keep your eyes peeled 👍 it definitely deserves to be back to its former glory for sure! Thanks for your interest and following 🙏
slick 50 that's a bad sign that sticker makes a mess of an engine if in good nick , miss my old gt had it till i sold it on 44k in 97 and its rare you see the turbo heat shield and sensor in place, also their not water cooled its a common mistake only the Renault 25 was water cooled.. mine had at least 5 battery's due to the engine cut off cooling fan killing them and all the covers once sold were still in place
Quality on these were awful. Had two back in the day and traded the second one in frø a MK2 Golf. Quality was next level. So there was a difference back then.
As seen on the late Brake Show!
Indeed @@TheAndyMitch the very one from @thelatebrakeshow
I had a silver one G333 OLG. I was 19, what a time to be alive 🔥
They were the days right@@jamiebourne8047

Die hard fan @alexanderfraser7791 😊 Yeah, cars of that era were just much easier to repair 👌
As a 52 year old I had one many many years ago still love them one of my most fun cars I have ever had
Definitely from a fun era of motoring @stuartmclaren7285
Quality car the R5 turbo they look amazing and are like a go kart. They look 100times better imo than the new cars of today
There's something about an old 80's motor right@@Mr_DATA828 👌

Awesome stuff @jayb8298 so many people sharing similar stories of them! Good memories hey 👍
My mate had a 350 brake one back in the 90s.. chipped, hybrid turbo and a strapped cooler..

Según tengo entendido fueron a Inglaterra entre 50 y 60 unidades del r5 gt fase 2¿es eso cierto?Esta es una magnífica unidad👍🏼

9:09 tungsten was my favourite but I’ve got a pearl white now and wouldn’t swap it for anything
I think both colours suit the cars really well @adrollason7220 white cars are always underrated but can look epic once cleaned 👍
I've got a pearl white too. Crashed in 99, still in the garage😅
Ahh man get it restored if you can! Be great to see it back on the road @bigpete4227 👌
A lot of work but worth it because those things are getting coveted & pricey. Wonderful little things with an attitude.

Crashed my pearl white 5 in 99. Still got it in a lockup. One day ill sort it.😢
My favourite car 🚗 😊
Are you going to make this a series? Great find!
Yes @Renault5Rebuild it'll be across this page and @sionellisautomax which you can find in my featured pages (bottom of the homepage) 👍

" get the bonnet resprayed" 🤣😂🤣😂
Yeah the bonnet definitely needs a respray for sure @iamyourfuture808 😄😉
I had a dimma wide body r5 turbo with 16 inch split rims when I was 19. Biggest mistake I ever made was selling it 😪😪
I bet that thing was awesome fun@@deanpartridge9545
