Looks a good example, the windscreen rot is common, on mine we replaced the lower part with a panel from a donor campus car and the upper roof part was repaired and bronze welded etc. The rubber strap you found in the boot does belong in the boot mate, it attaches to the rear panel and usually holds a pleather pouch in place which has the jack and wheel brace inside. It might be because im in the US so ive never seen one of these in person before but I would restore this to as close to original as possible if it were me
I restore it but better wheels on it and better exhaust and maby a stage 1 tune .I'm not fan of the alloy's or the standerd exhaust I think Thay run better on custom exhaust with better air filter
I think Renault knew how to make the car perform to its best remembering it is for road use. Performance exhausts generally just mean makes a lot of noise and, really don’t add a lot to performance. Don’t forget insurance sky rockets when cars aren’t as standard. If you wanted a quicker one you bought the maxi with the mid engine. All Renaults had keys that shape in the 1980’s for the ignition.

The strap is for the jack and wheel brace in the boot. You found it right next to the brackets for it

The strap is for jack bag in boot on rear valance
Oh and the strap is for the car jack that sits in boot in R5GTT

Gt Turbo tailgate have little studs to mount the spoiler on.
My vote is restore back to showroom condition. Not many left these days. Would be a crime to keep the patina after all the other work that it needs.
