  • I travelled by Ferry from Oban to Barra - A 5 hour sailing to the Southern most point on the Calmac route of the Outer Hebrides. A quick overnighter on Barra, followed by a big day and night on the Island of Vatersay. Great camping and the usual island hospitality. A truly wonderful trip to a very beautiful island.
    Thank you for watching & don't forget the thumbsies upsi's

    Hello 😊 your videos are beautiful. Writing a comment because I’d like to hear a story, maybe in the next videos about when you started going on those kind of trips/camping, like how it all started. Also it would be interesting to see how much equipment you have (how many tents, sleeping bags). It’s fascinating seeing you with a backpack that doesn’t seem that big but then you have so much packed: food, clothes, sleeping staff and etc. Greetings from Germany!

    Ha ha! when you confidently said you'd look for a signal, I laughed. I used to hang around the Calmac office for wifi most nights. The islanders had a petition to get a better signal - and that was 2 years ago... Fantastic place, bare bones scenerey.

    • @BoredManOutdoors
      @BoredManOutdoors  3 месяца назад

      That is quite interesting. When I first landed and popped to the coop for supplies, there were some young folk sat outside the coop. I now believe they were using the WiFi... I walked past a mast and expected some sort of signal but got nuffink.... I look forward to revisiting and exploring Barra more. 🤜🤛😎

      Hi there. Thank you for your message. I spend quite a lot of time searching out places to visit, whether islands, trail's or hills etc . Once I decide on a location which is usually weather dependent (and time), I then research routes, sights and potential camp spots. From there I can also determine length of visit.. I've probably got approximately 15 routes plotted out - it then comes down to the above and what I fancy. 😊

    • @BoredManOutdoors
      @BoredManOutdoors  3 месяца назад +1

      Thank you very much. Yes, you're right, it does depend on the destination. More often than not there is a water supply like a stream or inland loch however on the islands, they're usually shared with by cattle etc and so can be quite dirty.. I like to have 2 litres for a camp, but for food, but for coffee and drink the next day. .. thank you very much for your kind message ☺️☺️

    Early on in the video, I really liked seeing all the little green "islands" in the background. I thought to myself, how lovely it would be to live peacefully on one 😅.
    I'd like to ask a question! How easy is it to pack away your tent everytime you wake up the next day? I mean, obviously you are used to it by now, but I know I'd struggle to put it away easily!

    • @BoredManOutdoors
      @BoredManOutdoors  3 месяца назад +1

      Hi Lisa - did I ever ask you what a Fuggler is? It is worth getting as high as possible to get good views of the surrounding area and islands isn't it.. I'd like to spend more time on the islands but it is a tough life. The tent. packing... Some are more easier (or complicated) than others. The Fjallraven have a lot of guy lines and I like to tie and tidy them all up. In cold wind or rain, it requires discipline ... and time. Once all tidied up, it rolls up quite easily and into its bag. I have three Fjallraven tents and they all require a little patience to pitch and pack up. I reckon 10 minutes to pitch and 15 to pack up. 😎

      Eyup Ducky.. Maybe if you visit Eriskay and south uist.. that way you would have full days.. they're more favourable to cycles than hiking.. I sometimes take a small foldable stool type thing but more often than not lounge out and offer myself to insects and other biting beasties.. 😱😉
