    You guys sound so professional. Easy to understand without all the extra "stupid hype" so many youtubers add to their videos these days. I subscribed today!

      Aw, thanks for the feedback and sub. :) We try to keep it pretty straightforward and not go over the top.

      Yep, they're all free. They aren't perfect, but they do offer a good way to get some decent content without needing to pay.

    Another good group of apps are the FilmRise group.
    They have different apps for several movie genres.
    You can find a lot of older, rare movies and series on their family of apps.

      We've only heard a little about those and don't have much experience with them. We'll have to check them out more!

    Is there any way to get free local channels?

    • @FrugalRules
      @FrugalRules  3 года назад

      There isn't, unfortunately. Your best bet is to purchase an antenna. You could also try Locast - if you live in an area they serve, which is in ~ 35 cities.

      Yea, we decided to discuss platforms that are strictly free in this video. We're actually doing a review of Peacock in the very near future.

    I have an Apple TV. The Crackle app that I downloaded doesn’t have a search option. Without this, you have to go through everything find something to watch, which is a royal pain.
    I have always said that if you’re only going to get one streaming app, get Pluto TV. It’s the closest to cable that isn’t cable that you can get.
    I used to like Xumo. But then they made major changes in their platform (such as ads in the middle of the channel list that are highly annoying and distracting), and have recently renamed themselves Xumo Play. I will say this: while Xumo (Play) is still a free service, be ready to have ads in your face and a user interface that isn’t as good as the original. You’ve been warned.
    Plex is another good choice. Plex is unique in that it offers a choice of categories from a list, in addition to live TV. To give you an idea of how many films they have, I went to the documentary choice to make a list of ones I wanted to watch. Over a half an hour later, I still wasn’t through all the documentaries they had!!! So you won’t run out of something to watch on Plex.
    IMDb TV as everyone knows is now Freevee. Freevee is my #2 choice only after Pluto TV. Since this channel has the power of Amazon behind it, there’s a great selection of content I both TV and movies. One example is the classic Perry Mason series. Freevee has all the seasons of this show, while Paramount Plus that I’m paying for is missing two seasons (and they’re the official CBS app, go figure). As much as I like Freevee, they, like all the other free TV apps,have a plethora of ads that are targeted at crucial times in the program you’re watching. But then again, you’re getting this for free, and someone has to pay the bills!!!
    And Tubi is my #3, and I like it for the same reasons I liked the others.
    My advice: check out the most free apps that you can find. And after that, when you’re happy with your choices, cut the cord!!!
