Finally a comprehensive, lore-lite timeline! The last bit even humorous, and telling. Hope more research is done on Native American turquoise harvesting in these hills, up to current usage. Mahalo!
Very good history lesson. Lately I have been studying New Mexico treasure caches and lost mines. I have grown up here so it is familiar. I can wait to hike through there.
I just hiked the area. Love hearing this history as I hike trails with the names he just mentioned. Loved hearing about Hyde. No doubt Hyde state park is named after him. And he disappeared…perfect for New Mexico.
Bill tells such a wonderful history of the Cerrillos Hills. Thank you
