While there's no beating the original recording of this classic, Whitesnake deserves a ton of credit for this totally awesome and original take on Day Tripper. They weren't trying to be the Beatles. They stayed true to their own sound while still respecting the song and knocked it out of the park.
@@JoeandAngieI saw plant and page live many times and I’ve never heard them play above a C grade whereas Blackmore was an A+ many times. Even EVH said Page plays like he has broken fingers. As for Coverdale he was a Paul Rodgers wannabe not Robert. Plant was a Steve Marriotte clone but of course in true Zeppelin style took the credit for it. Take that fan boy. 😝😎😜
I thoroughly enjoyed this thank you. I saw Whitesnake in the 80's and was blown away. I much prefer the earlier blues rock era than the more commercial rock style they developed into, however Mr Coverdale is still one of the best frontmen in rock.
I’m 55 years old and I never knew of Whitesnake until about 1985 1986 when they were playing still of the night and their other hairband music I never knew they existed in the 70s. They were NEVER played on a rock station in Boston or providence during this time. This is a great cover! I was looking at Coverdale and was like “God he looks young and different “ 😂🔥.
Sadly music fans in the US weren’t interested in their music until the hair band crappola…..👀 In fact, that line up was disbanded by Coverdale due to pressure from their label at the time because of their inability to break into the lucrative US market. Early Whitesnake was the best. Marsden and Moody were not only fabulous musicians, but were superb song writers who penned all of Whitesnakes hits. Including the hair band remake cover versions of “Here I go Again”, and “Crying in the Rain”. Which were released originally on the Saints and Sinners album.
"Snakebite" (WS 1st album, 77-78) is my favorite WS album, so this is really cool. The interesting thing is they actually had their own funk-blues-rock sound in the late 70s before they re-made themselves into a hair band in the 80s, and got kind of lumped together with the other hair bands.
It is still a bit hazy as to whether they left by themselves (two years apart, mind you) or if they were pushed out. Though, it seems clear that John Kalodner (of all people) had something against moustaches...
@@vincentstephan6558 in late 1981 David dissolved the band because of management problems with John Coletta. When Whitesnake got back together in late 82 he asked Moody to come back…
Hey, they did a really good job with this tune. I expected some overdriven 80s metal sound that wouldn't have worked. But they didn't do that and it really sounds great.
GREAT find! I honestly never thought I would hear another enjoyable WhiteSnake song. I'm not trashing the band, but more the radio industry that played these guys SO much in the 80s. Then playing covers of the tiring songs in cover bands - it was a little much. Looks like I need to research a bit farther back past the 80s. Thanks!

Wow! I've been listening to WS since I was 18 and I never knew they did this cover. Can find anything on YT. It's pretty dang good thanks for posting. IMO TON did it BEST!! :-}~
I love both Plant and Coverdale singing. I do have to admit, I find there is a certain sizzle in Coverdale's singing, especially his 70s stuff, that is just SOOOO SEXY. Plant is more ethereal, to me at least. Awesome, but a little distant. Might have to do with subject matter of the songs, too.

Got a sexy Bluesy vibe.
Agreed! Like David Coverdale said about the Purple Album, We weren’t trying to replace the original songs. We just wanted to play ‘em.
Holy shit. Coverdale is amazing. His voice is like a mix of Paul Rodgers and Chris Cornell. So perfect for this genre.
Robert Plant is his influencer
Chris Cornell sounded a lot like Coverdale with Audioslave.
Coverfish was never the Rober Plant he wished to be lol
Blackmore wanted to be Jimmy Page and failed there, too
Front runner

Classic Whitesnake ... they were awesome, just cool and well played music. I saw them in 1981. Best concert I have seen.
Wow. This is an incredible cover of a Beatles classic. Never knew Whitesnake did this song. ❤❤❤
This version has everything that made 70's music awesome.
one of the best covers I've accidently run across... Can't stop watching or listenin"

Pretty good
Come Together from Michael Jackson or Joe Cocker are great too
I have to disagree. I think it's a terrible cover.
Wow! It's a solid and deep flavor, amazing!❤
Saw this performed live at The Royal Court Theatre in Liverpool as a special encore in memory of John Lennon not long after he had been murdered.
Jon Lord on keyboard....RIP

They didn't play W.S. in Colorado Springs either. Too bad.
Oh my God! I never heard this, but it's amazing. David Coverdale is my favorite rock vocalist of all time.
Gosh what a wonderful find, always loved this song as a kid.
Wowww!!! Gratamente sorprendida. Nunca había escuchado esta versión, que David Coverdale y Whitesnake lo hace de maravilla. 🤘🤘
I have played this song in this version LIVE a lot of times... and i love it!
David Coverdale has a believe it or not a rare sounding voice, which is suited to the blues. Good version of a good song
Classic Whitesnake!
MARAVILHOSO! Puxa, raridade pura mesmo! Versão belíssima e perfeita! uhuuu Pérola!!
Amei, valeu mesmo por postar este video!
Gotta' love it. Old school hippies rejoice. Love the voice box... only 3 words for you Mr.... TURN IT UP!
One of my fave Beatles songs!
i cant believe this even exists. amazing!!
From the "Trouble" album, probably their best. Before they came to the States and became just another hair band these guys were f@*%ing awesome.
That doctored voice style with his mouth so close to the microphone 🎤 was a very pure 70s doctored vocal sound.😉
i really like this cover
i think its very interesting
Such a phenomenal band before Coverdale went "hair metal" and got rid of Moody and Marsden.
It is still a bit hazy as to whether they left by themselves (two years apart, mind you) or if they were pushed out. Though, it seems clear that John Kalodner (of all people) had something against moustaches...
Coverdale no tuvo elección
Sykes was in between trem leaving and 87 album and getting fired himself

Don Sylvester fantastic musician
harmonies are on spot what geroge, john and paul did. great job!
has a touch of Dio in the chorus
What a Classic Song to Remake and they made it even more a Classic!
That man on the bass, is amazing!
Neil Murray! He also played on their 1987 album… monster bassist! 🇬🇧
good cover of the beatles classic, i love whitesnake and their ain't too many covers i like but i like this.
thanks for the post.... this has been a favorite of mine for 30 some years.
And kids...stop arguing. And just enjoy.
simplesmente um cláááásssico....!!!
Hey, they did a really good job with this tune. I expected some overdriven 80s metal sound that wouldn't have worked. But they didn't do that and it really sounds great.
Great song...Great cover of a Beatles classic.

Very bluesy, very cool----I never heard this before--the voice box is so 70's!
Awesome rock classic remake!
perfect , amazing
Great find by David Cook on Idol this week. He keeps this pace up he deserves to win!
I don't really like The Beatles, but you gotta admit, this is one of their best tunes period! And a great take on it by Whitesnake!
Nice...I never heard this; I really liked Coverdale in Deep Purple...the vocals on "Burn." Incredible.

Just happened to look for covers of Day Tripper. This is great!
Thank you for sharing 🙏🏻
Great video, awesome, just awesome
David could make any song his own!! For the simple reason that he is a Showman in the traditional Rock style!
I like rare stuff like this, thnx for sharing!
This sounds cool, I love The Beatles btw.
great cover......LOVE THIS........THANKS
I like this version - yes its funky rock and very their own - that's ok. Nice and raunchy - good interpretation.
Hells yeah! Great vid!
What a brilliant version. The old school Whitesnake with Moody and Torme still had a certain something. Fantastic stuff. Thanks so much.
Torme was with gillan
Bernie Marsden and mick moody
Totally DOPE!!
Massive fan - thanks for posting!
A gem. Thank you!!

Great video, I love the old Whitesnake. THANKS for posting this gem :-)

Cool 70's song and video!!!

not to shabby. i like it.
Oh this is wunderful, never seen the video. Thanks for uploading, a fine cover it is!
Best line-up (Duck Dowle sounds great). Early line-ups usually are (Genesis, Sabbath, Yes etc, etc.).
Great cover- thanks for this
hard rocks soul man
wow never heard this version before!
Christ, this IS rare! Amazing to think, too, that Coverdale wasn't always crap. In fact, for a few years he was damn good.
Love the beat in this song!
there's always a b-side to every tune. I've been very fortunate to hear this one. Coverdale has to give cudos to Lord and Pace though
Very Awesome!!
surprisingly good. really good.
