You have the 5 Core, right? I am absolutely amazed at how good that mic is! I've owned a Shure Super 55 Deluxe, and have always been curious about the Memphis Blue as well. Can't get enough of cool mics!
@@BacktotheRetroReview I recorded one of my recent videos with the 5 Core (ruclips.net/video/Hr8YO0LueJs/видео.htmlsi=o1_Q5LZGRwLjMp_z) and agree that it sounds really good. I just need to resist getting this one, because another microphone is not something I need right now.
This channel and a few others really get me in the feels with these "budge" microphones. It is so hard to resist buying all of the good ones ... just because... The Struggle is REAL! LOL ... 10:12 I bet your the kinda guy that cuts the tag off of pillows too! LOL The mic color is AWESOME! Don't listen to neysayers you keep doin what you do! Thanks for sharing.
I am super glad it impressed you that much Mike. I plan on using that mic when i want to do a Johnny Carson style at the desk talk on a desk mic stand. Looking forward to seeing one become a staple as your streaming mic. 😀 👍😉
Thanks a lot as always! Listen your content loudness is minus 8db. That means automatically every listener listens your content far less loud than they could. Solution is to render your videos audio content to minius 14db. If you know it already just forget these lines again ;-)
I’m blown away at the price. $65. Everything this cheap is made of plastic. It’s chunky, but I love how it gets the livestream juices flowin’ Especially on days when you’re struggling, it’s like chugging a cup of coffee.
It’s a great livestream mic!!! Absolutely love it. I will buy this mic for livestreams after I get through the last of my mic reviews on my schedule before the end of the year. Still an awesome mic….ABSOLUTELY
This is definitely even cooler looking on your boom arm than I thought it would be. I'm impressed with the lack of handling noise. Sounds quite good the way you have it configured. I'm also a huge fan of the AM8 and SM57, so it was great to hear the comparisons with those mics. Another cool retro style mic is the 5 Core. Handling noise is awful, but it looks and sounds great for around 40 bucks. I got mine direct from 5 Core instead of Amazon or eBay.
I’ve heard the 5 Core gives a good tone…handling noise is the most common issue for the budget mics. Thats where they save their money to keep the price down
You legitimately enjoyed this one Mike. Most amusing and good value. I did a quick search in the UK for 50s microphones and apparently this style is a pastiche of the Shure 55 series, that they still make but at around £150-160. I found a comment that claimed the modern 55s are basically a modern 57/58 capsule in the "Elvis" shell. There seem to a few versions of the clones in circulation in the UK (different bars on the shell) and numerous rebrandings. As usual we never really know which have the same insides/manufacturers. On a lot of stuff I find there is the "original clone", and copies of the clone. And then all these clones get whitebox rebrandings. It's hard to know how many are identical and which are even cheaper copies. The prices can vary more than they should (for identical product) and people (like BigClive on YT) have even found components deleted from say power supplies just to save pennies on each unit.
It’s scary when it comes to clones and knock -offs. This one is definitely a good mic when you consider how it measures up to the other mics around $65!
@@theoutsiderjess1869 I didn’t find one. I watched a video on somebody vinyl wrapping their car. It’s tough with some bodies. I have only done it with a fifine AM8 because of the simply box style body.
This is the best mic design. I have seen the only thing I’m wondering is can you somehow swap out the pot filter? Like the blue just doesn’t fit my setup
@@Taterz_z not sure. Good question. The color has significance though, not just for looks. Blue is usually the color for retro mics that are super cardioid while black is cardioid.
@@franciscomarin5667 usb mic under $100…I would go with the fifine AM8, k688, or the pd200x because it gives you a companion app to go along with it to eq your mic. Check those three out in reviews on voices similar to yours! That should help narrow that list down to the one for you 👍🏻

Love it! Gotta give people a glimpse!!!
Even though I have a retro looking mic, now I want this one

Yeah, not sure how it go to that number. I always render my audio at -12db, and RUclips adjusts it to -10db. 🤷🏻♂️
