    So it turned out that the reason why Armand said that "You cannot script Lestat" is bc he LITERALLY tried to! 😂

    • @dontsplitup

      Lol. Excellent point. It's funny that the one person to take Armand down was the same guy he tortured back in San Francisco in Malloy! How poetic!

    I was so glad for Santiago to be gone. Especially when he mentioned how her ashes were defiled. Armand is such a snake omg. Daniel makes an awesome vamp tho and he probably saved his ass by bringing up that script 😂

      Totally agree about Santiago. He definitely got his just desserts! But what a great villain, right? Loved that dude as a character. What you see is what you get. Malloy was did his thing. Stuck to his guns no matter what. Gotta respect that.

    This series is truer to the books than it is to the movie. As a black Vampire Chronicles fan, I'm satisfied with the changes Rolin Jones and his team made.
    A lot of your questions will be answered in season 3. The soul of the Vampire Chronicles is the conflicting narratives of its large cast. This series expands on this by making other characters voices just as relevant as Lestat's.
    Things will make more sense when major players like Marius, Pandora, Maharet, Mekari, Cayman and Akasha come along to fill in all the blanks.
    The lore of this series is DEEP! I can't wait to see twists and changes made (like more characters of color) that Rolin Jones's team make to the intricate tapestry Anne Rice wove years ago.

    • @dontsplitup
      @dontsplitup  6 дней назад +4

      Thanks for insight. I never realized the lore was so deep story-wise with even more interesting and pivotal characters to look forward to enjoying. I too can't wait to see more people of color included in these stories.

    I had reservations about Jacob Anderson as Louis, but he's an incredible actor and gave a very passionate performance in this series. You have to look at this series on its own merits (which are many)- it's not the book, it's not the movie, it's its own entity. I can't remember the last time I was eagerly waiting for the next episode of a series. A great season all around.

      @@dontsplitup The books, ranked: 'Interview' and 'The Vampire Lestat'- the best of the series. Good: 'Blood and Gold', Queen of the Damned'. Just OK: 'Merrick' (pretty unmemorable, actually) 'Memnoc, the Devil' (takes about fifty pages to get going), 'Prince Lestat' (very uneven, some parts are very good, others read like bad fan fiction). Bad: 'The Tale of the Body Thief', 'Pandora' (reads like a draft for a novel) The worst: 'Blood Canticle' (Quite literally one of the worst books I've ever read- uneven pacing, clumsy dialog, unbelievable characters- avoid at all costs) Haven't read: 'Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis'.

      @@dontsplitup A few more I forgot: 'Vittorio the Vampire'- A story set in Renaissance Italy, it falls into the Good category, and 'The Vampire Armand', which unfortunately introduces some of the most annoying characters in the whole series. Armand is more interesting when he's evil; this book elaborates on his backstory, it's just OK. Rice's writing ranges from incredible to sloppy, especially in her later books, where she seems to just be cranking them out without an editor.

    I have read the trilogy of books;Interview with the Vampire, The Vampire Lestat, and Queen of the Damned. I, kind of, have an idea of how season three could look. Lestat would do anything to protect Louis. Lestat has to shift the angry vamps to focus on him instead of Louis. That would play very well for Lestat to become a rockstar from The Vampire Lestat.

      @@dontsplitup I am in my 50s and I was around 14 years old in the early 80s when I read interview with the vampire. Most people don’t realize that it was written in the early 70s. I think I read the other two when I was an older teenager. If you haven’t seen the movie from the 90s with Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, it’s worth watching. It follows the book. That way you can kind of get an understanding of how and why they changed things in the series. In the book, Claudia, was a very young child; about five or six years old. I think Claudia being 14 in the series, works better. It’s extremely difficult for a younger actress to portray cognitive aging. Kirsten Dunst was around 10 or 11 years old when she did the movie and, I think she’s the exception.

      @@MargaretRosenbalm It's amazing how these stories are getting a nice dust off and being told in present time. It goes to show how great these books are and how they can still work and be entertaining. I agree that Kirsten Dunst was excellent in the Claudia role from the film. Maybe I'm a bit biased as well because I'm a sucker for great vampire stories. Really appreciate your recommendations, notes and insight.
