something i really want to know is what louis' real need is to do the interview. is it to come to terms with what happened to claudia? does he want his life to end? will we get an answer? how can they reveal all this to daniel & let him live? does the book actually get written? so many questions.

The book by John Ajvide Lindqvist is sooo much better. Explains what happens much better. Like how tHe undead can read minds and reacts to feelings. Hence why some gets violent. Plus people around them gets telephatic powers. Wasted potential even if i like the movie just by the realism.

Lestat seems like he was being controlled...by someone.

It was actually Louise memory of the past that’s wrong. Lestat was telling the truth.

I have read and re-read the first three books so many times I have had to buy new versions of the books bc they started to fall apart. When I saw this was an actual series; I wanted to know how close the series is to the actual books? I will not spoil anything in the books for you; as they are wonderful. And I do agree; they definitely explain things probably more in depth than what they can do in a series. I wanted to love the movies; but I do not speak of the shit show that was Queen of the Damned. LOL IYKYK. I am interested in watching the series; but I don't want to be disappointed. I do agree; Claudia is such a tragic character. Should I dive in?

Chez Nasty, you are the most hilarious, big-hearted reviewer of this show out there. That tribute to Claudia was a sweet surprise. Personally, I liked Bailey Bass better. There was a hard-edged Americanness that made her acting feel 100% U.S. Black woman when she got pissed. Love you, dude, and I've almost forgiven you for suggesting people watch Rae Dawn Chong in "Soul Man", way back in Season 1.😂

I prefer the way they killed her off in the book much more. Give it more depth. Sam Reid is a perfect Lesat tho. It so nice finally seeing it from his prospective. He is not the monster that Louis and Claudia make him out to be. But you don't see it til "The Vampire Lestat". It nice to see the writers thinking ahead, giving newer fans some of that insight.

I had the same note for Delaney. The acting was great but the accent work would take me out. Especially as strong as Jacob and Sam’s accent work is. It’s are so on point at every emotion. I’m surprised production didn’t work more with her on that.

What makes you so sure that Lestat is lying? Think about...in s1 episode 5 You can hear Lestat say "Im trying to control myself" and it didnt make sense because he was already beating the hell out of Louis while saying this...But it makes sense in this version if Louis was the aggressor and he was holding back because he knew he was way more powerful...Not to say i COMPLETELY believed him tho....Except i def belived his version of what happened the night Claudia was turned

We can’t depend on Louis memory at this point because everything g started to make sense with what lestat was saying and let’s be honest Louis wasn’t really a good person even before he was turned vampire …..

so armand, who put the whole coven to sleep in like half a second, couldn't fight them all cause they would kill him, so his only choice was to backstab them🙄🤨 Armand just be lying 😂🤣 he was also puppeteering the audience members and was being held captive by the rat keeper who is the lowest member of the Coven.

I actually went back to season 1 episode 5 and you can hear them saying this dialogue as Claudia runs up the stairs. So crazy enough lestat wasn't lying about the fight scene. Lestat honestly looked like he was dissociating on the stage. Santiago kept getting upset , he kept going off Script. I think he was being mind controlled. As Claudia was getting sentenced, you could see him shaking with his head down and Swaying back and forth in a trance.

New Claudia is killing it. First episode I kept comparing her to Bailey, but her performance is so strong I have honestly forgotten Bailey's Claudia. Recasts are often botched, but this time around, I salute.

I didn't get the idea that Lestat was there the whole time. I got the idea that he was sent for at the very end,when they decided to put Claudia and Louis on trial.

The later books make Armand more sympathetic, but you forget what a monster he is.

I have to laugh a bit at how many people are wondering what is going to happen LOL, and shocked that Lestat is back LOL. Ok so (first) Anne Rice wrote 13 novels in the Vampire Chronicles and she and her son Christopher coached AMC on the direction of the series which would stay close to the novels with just time period refreshed to modern audiences. (AKA . from the novel where Lestat makes Louis a vampire on his plantation in 1791 . reset in season 1 to Storyville in early 1900s. Also the novel setting Theatre des Vampires in Belle Epoque Paris (1880s) and reset during WWII. And of course Louis and Claudia in the AMC being recast as gens de couleur. But seriously so sad how many people never picked up a novel ? I would give away spoilers, but season 1 will end with the end of the first book INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE. So hopefully with season 3 we will start at the beginning of the second book The Vampire Lestat. But AMC has done an amazing job. Since Interview was written in 1976, it makes sense to revamp to modern times in Dubai and have the original interview of as flash back to San Francisco.. The Theatre des Vampyrs set in WWII area is amazing as the ability to include German expressionism and early animation. Much more avant garde. Most people will not get many of the music references which are brilliant. Such as Lestat and Louis's leitmotiv as Ravel's 2nd mvt of the Piano Concerto in G (1932) which of course is by a gay composer and perfect for the period. Same goes for a scene when Lestat and Claudia are playing the piano duet of Debussy's Pan, (so perfect for Lestat). But seriously I am so amazed when I peruse RUclips and see posts. WOW I was so surprised Lestat is alive. Or omg I can't believe what happens to Claudia. PICK UP A NOVEL and read! As an acting and music coach I had the pleasure in the early 90s of attending one of Anne Rice's vampire balls in New Orleans. Though I did not know her well, I had the pleasure of also later meeting up with her in Palm Springs (where she was living after Katrina) when she came in to hear one of my performances. Sam Reid is brilliant as Lestat. (so in love) and just a great cas! The resetting makes the AMC version fresh for the die hard fans and I think actually on some level works better than the original novel. I can't wait to see if there is a season 3 .. if they start with the second book as in that we it opens with Lestat and as Goth rock star. so would be perfect to set in the 1980s goth new ro period. Also we will get flashbacks to Lestat's pre vampire days in 18th century France and his love of his mom Gabrielle who he makes into a vampire, the wolf hunts, his asshole father and then the Comedia d'Arte (which we got a flash back to in season 2) and his love affair with Nicholas. And of course the introduction of Marius. .. (P.S.) Also amazed people are so clueless over Daniel and the Talamasca. LOL. There are only 13 books in the Vampire Chronicles. PICK the original Anne Rice books up and read. !

I think Armand knows that Rashid and Daniel are lying and will kill Rashid. Daniel is safe for now because of Louis. That said, I haven't read the books and could be way off.

Sorry to spoil but in the books and movie Claudia gets killed by the coven for being a child vampire and attempting to kill lestat

So the theater burned down but is it not like Armand is still playing director, pulling the strings of people around him like characters in his own play..... Waiting for Lestat to come back and flip the script.

To be fair the new girl is phenomenal.

Glad that horror is in a good place. However, good luck trying to convince the big studios to get the hint. They don't understand that a $10 million film that makes $100 million is great for business. Not every movie has to have Avengers money put into it. Smaller films can be better in the long run. When will Hollywood take note? After the box office crash that I predict will come? Look at Deadpool,for instance. Yes it's a Superhero movie (no matter what Wade Wilson says). Yes, it had $70 million in it. But it made back ten times its budget. No, that doesn't account for advertising. It still made bank. Why don't they get that not everyone wants Superman 15 different ways on the big screen. Sadly, I think that the days of smaller films getting good love from Tinseltown are gone forever, especially with the advent of streaming services and all that. Something made by Shudder and shown ONLY on Shudder will NEVER make the waves a 29th X-Men flick will. Ugh. I'm kinda disgusted with the entire industry. You ever see the film Salvage (2006)? That was a banger. And yet, EVERYONE sleeps on it. Is it a slow burn? Yeah, but that's part of its charm. And the twist may just melt your brain.

Something we have to remember is that in interviews, the cast has said it's not a retelling of the books but a continuation of the story from multiple point of views. So, it's possibly not necessarily true story the first time around. Minds could have been messed with as vampires have the mind gift, they may be able to read minds, communicate with other vampires with their minds, etc. This episode is showing that Armand was manipulating minds, so whose version are we going to believe? I liked the scene in the museum where Armand is telling Louis his background/ making story and Lestat is looking at him like are you buying this? Lestat did say the ancient overseas vampires were vicious. So sad for what's coming for Claudia. . .

I hope in season 3 they go right into the book plot of Queen of the Damned...it has its drama and violence ...and it had a character on film that was played by the late beautiful Aaliyah

My God if this show doesn't win a Emmy, geez....why season 1 didn't sweep the emmys will forever baffle me
