@@FelipeViannaNutriUFRJ he's a baritone singer, look at the range of a tenor , BTW it's my own opinion and base of his own profile he is a professional baritone singer
@@krispatag6931 Singing X repertoire does not make you a Y voice. Agnes Baltsa, for example. She sang the mezzo repertoire all her life, with some incursions into the soprano repertoire, but if you look closely at her voice, it is a dramatic soprano with a very undeveloped chest voice. With that, she chose, and performed well, the mezzo repertoire, but that doesn't make her a mezzo. The voice color is very different. So does Thomas Hampson. The difference is that Thomas Hampson didn't develop his chest voice properly to sing baritone repertoire. He sings out of laziness, or fear, of keeping his voice in higher regions. Do an analysis and compare him with great baritones of the past, including those with lighter voices, with a well-developed vocal technique. Thomas Hampson is much more like a tenor, which is what he is, than a baritone. The higher he goes, the more his voice shines. He has an interpretation of "Largo al Factotum" in which he, in cadence, sings a High C so beautiful, so brilliant, that it is not proper a sound like that in the voice of a baritone, even this one reaching such a high note. An easy High C he delivered sounded like nothing. And when you compare his high register with his low register, you understand what I mean. How much suffering his serious record is. Out of the passaggio notes! His voice crosses over in F/F#, which is when he starts to cover the highs. This is a tenor passaggio. If Thomas Hampson had developed his voice correctly, he would be a Wagnerian/dramatic tenor, maybe even a beautiful spinto tenor with a richer low register. It's audible for N reasons how much Thomas Hampson IS NOT an actual baritone. I repeat: he is a lazy tenor who, for reasons known only to him, decided to dedicate himself to the baritone repertoire. This is a mistake, since the vocal dynamics and physiology of men makes this change of repertoire a little difficult, which is easier for female voices since they rely on head voice recording.
Hampson is singing the choir part towards the end. He isn't pretending to sing the last chord, he's genuinely singing the lower octave mimicking the choir part. They don't want to overpower Olga's voice. It's brilliant and spectacular!
Olga you are a very unique Lady opera singer of the 1st rank ,your personality ,your smile ,your gesture and above all your beauty of voice and naturally all the ensemble, I am in love OLga

This video was made at the New Year's Eve gala from Baden-Baden in 2012. This was long after Maestro Villazon had his throat operation. I wonder sometimes if the singers have their off-nights as we all do? They cannot ALL feel like singing ALL of the time - you know, like ALL of us non-singing public do? I will not criticize anyone for being able to sing like they all did that night. Maybe they were tired, maybe someone had little cold or - whatever? I am happy and satisfied with whatever they did and how they did it. (Sorry, just my opinion!) Greetings xxx
This is so sad for someone who used to sing so magnificently to have his voice taken away from him this is truly sad it is not a criticism but such sadness comes over me as I listen to them sing
Me also....Mr. Villazon's spectacular voice and passion brought me back to Opera after a long absence. His singing has brought me great joy! And it was with much heartache, that his vocal troubles brought him to silence. What a great loss. Everyone suddenly is an Opera critic, preaching about his, " Technique ". He was born with an congenital cyst. It was inevitable that his voice would fail him. And, his management driving him like a race horse, not giving him and his voice rest. I adore his voice, and him. Maestro Villazon, I wish you the best everyday. I cheer every success you have had since your surgeries. I believe you are one of the great Tenors. And you are so brave to jump back into the game, in the face of so much criticism. Bravo!!
merse, I am sorry to say that you are correct as regards Villazon-he is unfortunately passed it, or else, this was a particularly bad day for him (I hope so) -he was so great.
Vilason probably had a little cold. Hampson sung the low part of a tenor and I don't think it was bad. It was funny amusing. He sing it in his beautiful Baritone clear voice of him. It is a parody on la traviata, and I believe it is cute. He didn't sing the high note he just pretend whan all the three sung together.

Finally Hampson singing something from his repertoire.
Only Olga holds the glass properly from the pillar, which means that she has an aristocratic origin, the other two who knows from which village they came down
I just have no idea what you hear when some of you write Villazón was ok and Hampson better ... ? It's a shame ... Hampson and Villazon both more than bad ... or they were really drunk (esp Villazón) Poor Olga btw ...
I suppose that was plain water - Artists of their category in a venue so important as this would never risk to look like they have been drinking spirits. A refreshing parody. Warning: exquisite connoiseurs of music and traditionalists please abstain to critizice.
Hampson is definetly not a tenor. You should sharp your ear. There is a very little difference between a tenor and a baritone.. Basicly the deferent is in the shade of the voic. He didn't sing the high notes of the tenor. and his voice is more wider.
What's up with Villazon's voice? He's out of tune and he sounds like his voice will crack and everything will fall apart any second. He also sounds weak. :(
Villazon had a congenital cyst on the underside of one of his vocal cords. He tried to cut back on his appearances, then he tried switching to a lighter repertoire. Finally he had to quit altogether.
Revealed. Hampson was never a real baritone. Certainly not a Verdi baritone. He was more of a Baryton-Martin or a Broadway bari-tenor. I heard him in the opera house many times over the years. He was never exactly what you expected. He looked great on stage and moved well. And he always knew his music but his voice was always too light for such a big guy and for the parts he played. I'm sure he considered converting to tenor when he was a voice student. Recently Ordonez, a natural baritone, chose to push up to tenor. You haven't heard of him because the result isn't too pretty. Several high baritones like Ramon Vinay pushed up to tenor to sing the heroic parts but when they got older they fell back down to baritone. Domingo did much the same.
What fun they are having...with the drinking song from Verdi's "La Traviata"
Rolando has definitely had too much to drink here! It definitely shows in his voice :')
It is for sure
Painful to see how his vocal talents had declined so dramatically.
Excellent performance! What a rare artistic talents, what a wonderful floral soprano and tenors!

SI es verdad, Pavarotti tiene mas potencia. Pero nadie interpreta la tarantella como Villazon. La soprano es excellente
