Love this! Raimondi was my favourite singer for the longest time. Was lucky enough to see him and Baltsa perform together. They had a great comedic rapport. They should not have been allowed to stand together! Bound to cause mischief!
Agnes Baltsa is a dramatic soprano. She decided to specialize in the mezzo repertoire, but sang a few soprano roles throughout her career (mainly Mozart).
@@little-963 There are several possibilities, but the main thing is that her vocal apparatus allowed it. However, she sang some soprano roles during her career, including Despina, who is aimed at a higher subclassification of soprano.

Actually, Carreras does sing Alfredo's call and I think as Katia was about to sing Violetta's answer, Agnes jumps in. Up until then, Ruggero is acting as if he misplaced his copy of the text, perhaps, or it was in the pocket of the tux still at the cleaners, but in any case, he and Agnes act almost as if they're trying to tuck into the corner of the stage while coming up with a plan. I think Katia made some sort of wise crack about the look of them and it hit Carreras just right. It would explain why Ruggero sang empty sounds to everyone's delight. Proof that sometimes, getting it wrong can make magical memories. Absolutely wonderful in its epic fail! LOL Bravi!!
This is honestly the true version of "Bridisi" cos' then again it's a drinking song and they're like drunkards on stage having a laugh whilst performing quite well

I wish somebody who was in the theatre would tell us the story behind this recording - why is everyone having so much fun ?? anyway - it IS great fun watching - so very rarely do people have fun in classical concerts!!!
Was this intentional or just for the sake of fun. Jose Carreres would never make such a mistake. They intentionally confused the parts of Violetta and Alfredo.
