    Ash's "kippis" was spot on in the beginning! 👍Its a double consonant with the "p", and the weight is akways on the first syllable. Many foreigners dont get double vowels and consonants, therefore speaking too fast.
    Pro tip: The slower you speak, the better your Finnish sounds 😅

    Well I'm here because RUclips gave me a video of the same same train with 3.5 million views but I just couldn't get on with it and only watched 10 mins. Yours came up next and is much more by cuppa tea in presenting style. Look forward to watching your other videos guys PS love the top/fleece? You have in Ash on the train. Very Nordic!

    Do not double dip if you share the food with someone else. There are no nice night trains from Turku, there are trains with bigger cabins and showers from Helsinki. You can also take a car on the train. Do you think a bear in a beer can is a reindeer? I will follow your journey with interest...

    • @AshAndDan.
      @AshAndDan.  7 месяцев назад +2

      Haha I agree with the double dipping 😂 the train was very nice from Turku and we had a shower in our cabin all the way from Turku to Rovaniemi 👍thanks again for watching and hope you enjoy our journey through Finland 😀

    Hesburger (278 restaurants in Finland alone) is pretty good and cheap. Scanburger, somewhat smaller (~100 around the country), also okay. "Friends & Brgrs" is a small chain (29 places) but they make everything by hand and of real ingredients. Both Burger King and McDonalds in Finland (in everywhere) are really bad.
    I don't yet know whether you tasted "poronkäristys" (sautéed reindeer), with potato mash and mashed lingoberry or cranberry. Some people are disgusted at the thought but the locals have eaten reindeer for thousands of years.
    The other traditional Lappish dishes are salmon soup, leipäjuusto (bread cheese) often with cloudberry jelly and coffee, and ohrarieska - barley flatbread. The super-expensive Japanese mushroom, matsutake (Tricholoma matsutake, tuoksuvalmuska in Finnish) grows in Lapland. Many other mushrooms are especially tasty when they grow in Lapland.

      Thanks for telling us more about Finland- it’s always interesting to learn!
      We did try hesburger and thought it was decent enough! The others we saw but did not try!
      We never tried the reindeer!
      However we did try the cheese, salmon soup and the cloudberry jam which were all excellent!
      Thanks for watching and hope you enjoyed the video 😀

    Well If you gonna eat at Hesburger somewhere it's Finland, Turku (where you are) as that's where the chain originates from.

    • @AshAndDan.
      @AshAndDan.  7 месяцев назад

      We did read that it started in Turku. We wondered if the branch we went to was their first one? It was a decent enough meal, not sure about Ash dipping her fries into the milkshake though 😂 thanks for watching!

      @@AshAndDan. The first one was in Hansa shopping mall next to Turku market square in the 80s. The shopping mall still exist but the OG Hesburger does not.

    Beautiful video, as I get to try it myself in a week from now. I was wondering if the shower water was warm enough or not? Also if you thought renting a car in Rovaniemi was a good idea or not at this time of the year, as I am not sure how driving is like, with all the snow they have in the winter?

      Thanks for watching and thanks for your comment! How exciting, the train is an awesome way to get there. Shower was definitely warm and plenty water for us both! We didn’t hire a car, we just used public transport which was easy and reliable. 😁 hope you join us in the next one for more adventures in Lapland!

  • @ChristianJull

      Thanks for your comment 😄 we were due to spend some time in Turku but our plans changed. From Turku it actually worked out slightly cheaper as well! It did mean we had to get an extra bus from Helsinki to Turku but this was only €5pp on FlixBus.

    I don't know if dipping fries into milkshakes is a thing. If it is, it should be outlawed. Glad you opted for karhu beer though! It's one of the better ones. Avoid lapin kulta beer - we call it reindeer piss.

    • @AshAndDan.
      @AshAndDan.  7 месяцев назад

      It’s Dan here and I fully agree dipping fries into milkshakes should be a crime! 😂 I had only heard of Karhu the sneaker brand rather than the beer before going to Finland, but the beer was very good I must admit! Thanks for watching 😀
