    Superb job training this horse. I like how the video doesn't just show the "good" moments, but shows the bucking and kicking as well. People don't realize how dangerous it is to train any horse, let alone one that has never had human contact before. And in only 100 days. Congratulations!

      Yes, and there could have been more to be fully realistic, but they are trying to convince people to adopt so I think it was reasonably balanced. This program always amazes me and gives hope that more mustangs will be adopted. The holding pens need to be rethought as well as the whole problem of over population. We don't want them to ruin the land as the feral Brumby horses of Australia have done.

      @@janereniers6724 - Clearly the thing to do, but there is an industry too powerful to suggest that, as much as I'd like to see beef disappear from the American diet completely. World wide, the raising of beef cattle is an environmental disaster in numerous ways.

    I adopted a mustang mare who was the most gentle horse I've known. I slept with her in the stall and she wouldn't have hurt me for anything. Her response to human touch and love was amazing. She is incredibly smart, learns very quickly and enjoys learning. I hope everyone who has the opportunity to adopt a mustang will. They are amazing horses.

    You've inspired me to start training my own horse to do more liberty tricks. You've also open my eyes and I realised that the trainers at my stables don't care about the well being of their horses; saw them trying to lunge a 6 yo gelding couldn't manage and whipped the poor horse really hard although the trainer had 30 years of experience. You've inspired me a lot ♥️

    • @myronschabe
      @myronschabe 2 года назад

      Well, before you start making enemies at your stable, I would chalk what your trainer did to ignorance, not necessarily they they don't care about horses...the horse training methods have advanced DRAMATICALLY in the last 20 years...as knowledge has been shared with technology and coming from the like of Tom Dorrance etc. and now there are even lots of other very humane ways of teaching horses etc. that are coming out an evolving etc. etc.
      So, I think we have to be careful when communicating with people that are not hip to the new ways...because likely they do care about horses unless they are very jaded as some trainers can certainly get...cause then you just get into a divisive thing that is just plain negative.
      Good luck with your horse. :)

      @@michellyreyes 100% agree bits are required in some shows too just keep your hands light and your cues clear, and yes bitless bridals cause damage to the horses muzzle and can actually break the horses nose if not used correctly and since all these new people dont study before they buy a horse the first thing they do is go bitless, bitless is great for people and horses that are getting the equipment used correctly. I would love to see them running wild in the snowy mountains, my love for them came from the the poem turned into a movie The man from Snowy River, poem by AB Patterson. But I’d also like to see both the American Mustangs and Australian Brumbies, protected by the government and not seen as a pest, they deserve their freedom and wildness.

      Each time a horse is offered for adoption and does not get adopted, they get a strike. After three strikes, BLM can sell them "without conditions", meaning he could have been sold to someone who could have shipped him directly to slaughter

    • @janinathaler6161
      @janinathaler6161 6 лет назад +22

      Yeah... If 3 people bring the horse back because they didn't know what they're doing, the horse has to pay. Not fair.

    • @HEMI-MOMMA
      @HEMI-MOMMA 6 лет назад +27

      Janina I believe you misunderstood. As I read it, the horse was offered for adoption 3 times and was not adopted, not returned 3 times by adopters. It's still unjust to the thousands of perfectly good mustangs currently being held in BLM holding facilities.

    • @janinathaler6161
      @janinathaler6161 6 лет назад +12

      Oh okay. Well I heard from other people that they get a strike when they get brought back. But well, either way, any horse can be a great horse and therefore it's unjust to give them "strikes".

    • @equinefine59
      @equinefine59 6 лет назад +16

      Don't most of them ship straight to slaughter and just a few are adopted? All these years fighting the BLM has only got us a few baby steps. Its got to stop. Our world was built from the back of a horse for thousands of years. We owe them more! A lot more!

    While I could guess, could you explain what a "3 strike" horse is?

    At the auctions, what was it about this seven year old mare that made it so undesirable as to go three times without adoption? Its age? Coat color? Just wondering.

      Paliacho9 Not auctions necessarily, she was offered for adoption at least 3 times (either Internet auction, facility adoption, adoption event) and no one picked her. At the facility adoptions people are able to see all of them so they can easily get a strike there. She just didn’t catch anyone’s eye yet 😊
