Raptors fan here: Sorry about OG, but us Raps fan will tell you this guy is as durable as a Doller Store Umbrella. He gets weird and random injuries each year and rarely can go the distance of the playoffs healthy as well. This is just what you get with him. IMO, part of the reason the RAptors never wanted to expand his role beyond a D w/ 3s type of guy. When he is healthy he is great. But, never expect full healthy seasons and he typically breaks down end of year. Reminder he never played much during our NBA Champ run, if I recall, he was out early 2nd round and never returned.

As a Nuggets fan, we could say the same about Jamal Murray and MPJ (sorry about the other Porter thing 😬), but the patience finally paid off … so far.
With the insane level of play and long, compacted seasons and the new franchise salary cap rules, I think most players and franchises are going to have struggles with injured key players.
These guys just have to work so dang hard to compete at this unreal level with little recovery opportunities (especially for postseason competitors) that the breakdowns are kind of inevitable, especially for those that don’t get that Balco benefits package

    • @jesstiss222
      @jesstiss222 29 дней назад +1

@@KOSMOinfinite I agree with your point- it’s a crappy predicament for sure. The 82 game season is so short-sighted! A longer offseason would likely mean higher quality basketball and fewer preventable / overuse injuries. It sucks when (regular people) fans save up to go to see their favorite teams and legendary players play only for the “box office” players to be in street clothes if they’re there at all!
It’s kind of like that Golden Goose story … and the NBA is destroying its golden geese (all to chase the platinum gaming cow i guess🤑) rather than just taking care of their players. I love the players and the game, but the inhumane business side sucks! But it gives me a big more grace and patience for the injured players.
And, like we said, the brutal schedule and salary cap is bringing parity the hard way. The top 3 teams in the West each have key players sitting out rn and not even battling for 1st anymore bc they just wanna get healthy lol smh

Doctor, thank you for this video. We fans really appreciate you.
I have a few related questions.
Many Knicks fans are very frustrated with this situation.
Keeping in mind it's hard to know specifics because of how little information about OG's injury.
Many Knicks fans have taken to saying "OG is soft. He needs to just plsy through the pain."
Knowing they have as little information as you or I do about his injury.
What would you say to these fans?
Do you rhink this is simply a pain tolerance issue, or could OG actually make matters worse by playing too soon?
What would long term implications be of him playing too soon?
What's your options on fans without medical training, making these kinds of allegations?
Thank you for your time, Doctor.

I was one of those kids we all knew that dislocated their shoulder and popped it back in regularly. Caught up with me at age 26 when I was working at a restaurant, I reached up for something on a high shelf while turning my body away and it caused my shoulder to "fall out" of the joint. Ended up being an anterior subluxation, and upon contrast MRI scanning it was discovered that I had a full labral tear. 5 incisions and 8 bone anchors later (and a cool DVD of my surgery) I was on my way to normalcy again. I was prescribed vicodin for the pain and got horribly addicted to them, thankfully I had a strong support system around me to pull me out of that darkness- my mom basically was like "nuh-uh, you're living with me again until you're better."
Lost my job at the restaurant as all I could do was host, but it wasn't fair to the other hosts that I was taking their hours. The whole thing was pretty awful to be honest. Hope he doesn't suffer through his post op as much as I did, the pain along my spine was nightmarishly bad, easily a 10/10.
    Kids, don't dislocate your shoulders.

It is almost impossible to play competitively without re-injuring it. Any contact with your arm extended (fighting for rebounds, blocking a shot or getting blocked, going for a steal or a loose ball or getting rim stuffed) are a risk. I re-injured it multiple times doing these things. Such a tough injury because you can get back to doing about 80% of things but that remaining 20% makes all the difference
