The mother's bathrobe was made out of a fabric known as Chenille, that bumpy type cotton like fabric also used to make bedspreads in the 1950's n 1960's, even the 1970's!!! My sisters n I had white wooden canopy beds, n our Mom made the canopies out of the chenille bedspreads to match the purple chenille curtains on the windows as well!!! They actually were very beautiful!!!
I love the Christmas story movie! I’ll be 25 this year, the first time I watched it I was probably 7 or 8 at my grandparents house on Christmas Eve. I’ve watched it every year since! A true classic in our family!
I absolutely love this movie and watch it as it runs all Christmas day. I think it's because I long for the simpler times back then, before our world went crazy. I really enjoy your videos, thanks for taking us along. :)
Yes, they still sell Ovaltine. Also, I have always loved the movie. I found out one Christmas that my parents had never seen the movie! They were both born in the late 1930s. So, they could totally relate to this movie as it was set in the 40s! We watch it every year now.
My parents were also born in the late 1930s my dad 1937 my mother 1938, they are now passed away my mother in 2014 my dad 2021. They have seen it lots of times not just because it's a marathon on TBS station lol, we have it on DVD now, I'm 46 my older brother he's 49. Durning Christmas it's a marathon on TBS.
I'm 54 and I first saw A Christmas Story on TBS as a young adult. I loved it, and I still do! We moved from Long Island in 1976 when I was 8 and a half years old. I have had a bar or two of soap in my mouth during those first 8 plus years.. I think it's possible that some adults forget what it was like to be a child and therefore might not enjoy the movie at an older age. Never forget where you come from, ADULTS!
Yes! I KNEW you were going to check out the Christmas Story House! This was great! Glad to see your vehicle is all fixed up and you're back on the open road!
As a Clevelander, I’m so glad you got to see the Christmas Story house! Such a little gem. And yes, we love it at our house - watch it every year! Glad you got your car fixed pretty quickly.
I watched it growing up on TNT on Christmas eve and it became a Christmas eve tradition to watch it in my family. It is my favorite Christmas movie of all time.
The chattering teeth were a hot item in the 1960's n 1970's!!! My Mom got them as a gag gift for her Dad, my Grandpa, n my Grandma used to put them on the Christmas tree as an ornament with other gag gifts like the smoking figure doll n the drinking water bird, n us kids would take them down each Christmas n play with them the teeth chattering along the heavily spread dining room table full of cookies n cakes n other sweet n sausage treats!!! Awesome memories you are awakening in me today with this wonderful trip down nostalgia avenue!!! Thank you Carpetbagger!!!
I first saw the movie in my 20s, but it was probably 5-10 years after it was first released. I'm old enough that the references were not completely lost on me, plus I grew up in that part of the country so it all seemed familiar. Glad they could get your car fixed! Stay safe and thanks for everything!
I grew up in Cleveland, so this movie was always close to me-my grade school was very much like the one in the movie-and I have a younger brother as well-thanks for the tour-glad to see you are back on the road-I just got done repairing our Equinox as well-2700 dollars!
Goonies house was just resold to a huge fan. Said it was always his dream to own it. Interesting to see what he does. And his best friend bought the house next door.
Hi, Jacob! I’m surprised that the dealership didn’t offer you a ‘loaner car,’ for the short time your vehicle was in ‘their custody.’ Sometimes,🎉 car insurance company also has a rental car option, also. Glad you’ve got it back, now!
It is a Christmas tradition in our house! We only watch it once over the holidays though. It’s a classic Christmas movie. And I actually just watched a Christmas story story and I loved it also! I’ve been wanting a leg lamp for years, I think I’ll finally order it this year. I just bought Christmas story wrapping paper also!
I got an official leg lamp (full size) a couple of years back from the Christmas House. Ordered it online. I have never regretted it. It's so awesome in person. Turning it on is fun!
i find it funny that i was genuinely was really excited when you said the car was working great again. I'm so glad that your not concerned nor anxious about it anymore. can't wait to get back on the road with you.
Recently, I had the opportunity to watch a Christmas story on DVD I’m 24 now and I have to say I loved every moment of that film especially the running gag, “you’ll shoot your eye out”
We love the movie! I’ve watched it since I was a kid and now as a family we watch it every Christmas my 7 year old loves it! Actually got himself a Red Ryder for Christmas this year!
I loved A Christmas Story. I think those that are older can relate better to the movie with traditions expert in their childhood. I’d love to visit the house. - Very nice job making this video.
JACOB I'm so happy you're Mobile Again Thank you for staying Positive and Turning the bad incident into a Really Interesting video. Happy and SAFE travels ❤ ..
We love this movie. One of the only movies my two sons and I still watch. We have a tradition to watch it , even after Christmas, and they are 32 and 33!
Thank you for sharing. I think for a specific age group this can be classic. I prefer as my all-time favorite is "Christmas Vacation". Nice video. These filming site locations are great to see. Thank you for sharing. I know you had to do what you needed when having car trouble. I hope you were not taken by the dealer. Just to be aware, if possible, get a second opinion or check prices online once you know what is wrong. Sometimes you learn and realize there is a better option. Glad it worked out though.
Enjoyed your video here, Jacob TCB. You’ve kept such a positive attitude and your sense of humor throughout. Great 👍 work on still creating content for your viewers! Cheers, SGraham
ACS is my favorite all time movie! Such a comfort watch at this point. I grew up watching it, but unsure about at what age that began. Assuming the late 80's my parents would have gotten a vhs. I've been to this house back in 2010 I believe! We met Ian Patrella (Randy) and got his autograph on a DVD and hat. Everything looks So much "nicer" now! Definitely staying in the house for an evening would be a bucket list item!
Me and my family love a Christmas story ! It’s a tradition in our family to watch it every Christmas We always get my dad something to do with the movie for Christmas as he loves it
I have to see it every year I love Christmas story. Now I wanna watch it. I grew up with it on loop at the holidays and I miss that. I love the dad he was my favorite
I saw this movie in the theater when it first came out. I’ve loved it ever since. I introduced my son to the movie as a young child. It’s a holiday tradition to watch it every Christmas.
I’m from this area and it’s always been a tradition for us in my family. I even have a leg lamp from the house and it stays up year round it’s one of the few things I like about Christmas. The house is being sold but the owner is making it stay a landmark as a part of the sale
I was born in '81, was shown this movie as a toddler and had years of nightmares about santa kicking me down a slide to suffocate under snow. Always kept a side eye on that dude at the mall ever since.
In 1990 when I was five years old I saw A Christmas Story for the first time on TBS. One Christmas Eve and and I really didn't understand it but as I got older I found it to be hilarious.
Loved it then and I love it now! I saw it in 1983 or '84 at the Castle Mall in Delaware where I grew up. I actually just sent a link to this to my wife saying we have to go to Cleveland. Thanks for sharing this @TheCarpetbagger
My family saw A Christmas Story when it was originally released at the cinema - my Mom, my brothers, & I, & we enjoyed it. I was 15 at the time, & it was my Mom's favourite Christmas film. As an adult, I still enjoy it, & will watch it on occasion, but not every year.
I would love to visit there! My grandmother took me to see A Christmas Story in the theater back in 1983 when I was a kid. I can even remember the commercial on TV for it. I have loved this cozy Christmas movie from day 1! It is my favorite Christmas movie. My kids grew up watching the marathon every year and love it too.
Jacob, as a young adult, I adored A Christmas Story. Not so much the story itself...more so the way it was presented. I loved how Jean Shepherd told the story as he saw it, with such life and fervor. The scenes resonated with me as an adult, a professional writer, that stuck with me as I remember my childhood. For example, how Ralphie saw changing the tire by the side of the road. Whose fault was it the nuts got scattered in the snow? His father's, right? But that will never be remembered...what stood out was Ralphie uttering the "F" word.
I know how you feel. We all have a bit of bad luck from time to time, let me tell my faverite line from the movie said by Ralphie as an Adult: [narrating] Oh, life is like that. Sometimes, at the height of our revelries, when our joy is at its zenith, when all is most right with the world, the most unthinkable disasters descend upon us.
As someone who is a car guy, a bit of advice: Heat is the enemy of any turbocharged car. Lubrication and cooling of turbochargers is critically important. When driving, your turbo can be turning from 80,000 - 200,00 revolutions per minute, generating a LOT of heat on the bearings. Then, when you stop and park and shut off the engine, suddenly your (super-heated) turbocharger has no oil pressure to cool these bearings and the bearings inside are red hot. This is what causes most turbos to fail. If you want your engine and turbo to last, make sure you leave the car idling for at least a few minutes once you are ready to park. It costs a tiny bit more in fuel, but it continues to circulate oil to cool and lubricate the turbo's bearings Love your content, and thanks for sharing it with us :) .

I love the movie, I've been watching since I was a kid. I planned on watching A Christmas Story Christmas, but never got around to it this year. Maybe next Christmas I'll watch them back to back.
LOVE A Christmas Story! Big part of my childhood. Didn’t see it in theaters though, I saw it on video when it became popular after. Like most of the country.
The mother's bathrobe was made out of a fabric known as Chenille, that bumpy type cotton like fabric also used to make bedspreads in the 1950's n 1960's, even the 1970's!!! I was noticing that too! So odd!
Even without a vehicle, you’re still finding ways to give us entertainment. Thank you for your hard work!
My favorite Christmas Movie! It's a tradition at my house on Christmas Eve for 24 hours. I watch it throughout the year, too.
Best Christmas classic movie ever.
I love the Christmas story movie! I’ll be 25 this year, the first time I watched it I was probably 7 or 8 at my grandparents house on Christmas Eve. I’ve watched it every year since! A true classic in our family!
Absolutely nothing but LOVE for this movie.
I absolutely love this movie and watch it as it runs all Christmas day. I think it's because I long for the simpler times back then, before our world went crazy. I really enjoy your videos, thanks for taking us along. :)

My uncle finds a way to get it, if he can't find it in the store. It's what he grew up on and love ovaltine.
One of my favorite scenes in the movie is when Randy was in the kitchen cabinet under the sink crying saying that his dad was going to kill Ralphie
it is cool that they made the house into a museum, I hope the buyer keeps it that way
I'm 54 and I first saw A Christmas Story on TBS as a young adult.
Good point. Didn't every kid (I know I did) at least once, think: "Someday they'll feel guilty and then they'll be sorry!"
Yes... I remember feeling that way a time or two...
I’ll bet those Uber drivers are thrilled to have THE CARPETBAGGER as their passenger!
Yes! I KNEW you were going to check out the Christmas Story House! This was great! Glad to see your vehicle is all fixed up and you're back on the open road!

Love the Christmas story no matter how often or how many times I have seen it

Way to make an opportunity out of a sour situation. Keep it up you're doing a great job
Hi, Jacob! I’m surprised that the dealership didn’t offer you a ‘loaner car,’ for the short time your vehicle was in ‘their custody.’ Sometimes,🎉 car insurance company also has a rental car option, also. Glad you’ve got it back, now!
AAA is your friend.
A lot of them don't have any available or you have to be there just at the right time to get one.
I'm so glad you went there. My client, I take care of is going to love this. Thanks for stopping there.
It is a Christmas tradition in our house! We only watch it once over the holidays though. It’s a classic Christmas movie. And I actually just watched a Christmas story story and I loved it also!

I love Bob evans. It was founded in Ohio. I was pleasantly surprised to find them in Florida on my last visit.
Sounds like some Blues Travelers in the background of your Uber.
They actually still sell ovaltine , you can get it on Amazon and in certain stores.
Happy to see the car is back on the road. Safe travels and onward! 👍
My Mother loved this movie. She would have it on while she went shopping. She expected it to be playing when she returned from shopping.
Kool movie love stories
Cool, glad your Chevy is fixed .🥰
Such an amazing journey. Sorry about the car repair, of course, but otherwise, totally rocking. Take care.

When i saw this as a kid could not stand this movie, now it has become one of my favorites, thanks.👍
Having grown up in the Cleveland area, in the 80's, this movie was always on my radar. It had its funny moments. I've never loved it. I tried and it was one of those things that because everyone loved it, I felt like I needed to as well. But it's not one of my fav's. I like to think that it served as an empetus for The Wonder Years (similar narrated format), which came out 5 years later, which I absolutely loved and still do.
I love the movie, I've been watching since I was a kid. I planned on watching A Christmas Story Christmas, but never got around to it this year. Maybe next Christmas I'll watch them back to back.
I watched A Christmas Story later in life and enjoyed it.
LOVE A Christmas Story! Big part of my childhood. Didn’t see it in theaters though, I saw it on video when it became popular after. Like most of the country.
