Hi Jacob, long time watcher, first time commenter. A tool you might consider is a code reader you can plug into your car and it will help diagnose the problem. They are affordable and they help prevent you from getting duped from unscrupulous repair shops.
Commenting in hopes Jacob will see this. I do all my own vehicle repairs. The only thing I don’t have is a tire mounting/balancer machine and I need a mechanic for inspections for insurance and for auto transmissions. Just got a 1996 corolla from Florida with 138000 miles passed inspection and on the road should be my car for the next 5-10 years. But yes code reader to plug in get a code and see if the dealer or mechanic is at least being honest. I had a 2012 F-150 eco boost and it went into limp mode because one spark plug was arcing over the ceramic. My 1995 GMC K1500 would have kept snorting with a little worse mileage lol. Luckily I was able to sell my eco boost for more than I paid for it (one of two vehicles I have ever made money on) and I got to learn that I never want a vehicle newer than mid 2000’s. Also had a 2015 Ford suv die while driving down the highway on the way home from work for no reason. Coasted to the side of the road shut it off and it started back up and got us home but new vehicles haven’t been any more reliable for me if you know how to maintain an old one.
There's a cheap but, still good scan tool on Amazon for 39 I think. I've used it on my 2011 Corolla when something rarely, thank God, goes jazzy lol. God bless, buddy! Also, good job on the better food and drink choices lately! Turbo chargers wear everything out faster. Dealerships unfortunately pass on the millions of overhead to the customer. The dealership should have shuttle service to help you in the very least.

Hi, Jacob. Sorry to hear about your problems. Glad the dealership was able to see you so soon. I know what you are going thru. 25 years ago me and my sister got stuck on a New Jersey highway on mother's day weekend. Did not have a cell phone either and no phones on highway at that time. After a few hours sitting and no one stopping, a man and his two daughters stopped and got a tow truck for us. Glad you were some where with people around. Good luck will keep you in our prayers. Linda and Lisa 🐢🐢🙋🙋🐯🐯
Keep your head up Jacob. Life sometimes doesn’t always go the way we would hope. It’s just a bump in the road. You’ll get through it. Love these road trips.
Good luck on your car & stay safe Jacob. There are some really nice museums & roadside attractions in Cleveland. There is the Christmas Story house, Rock & Roll Hall of fame & the worlds largest rubber stamp just to name a few.
I really love that you told a story about you car issues when you were really broke. I think most of us can relate to that and it reminds us of how far we've come. Or if your broke right now you know it does get better and everyone has been through it

Hey man! Im a cleveland native, if you ever find yourself stranded here in cleveland we have a bus system that can get you to your destination or close to it... We have a transit app where you type in the address and it tells you the busses and departure times, you can also buy a ticket and have it on your phone as well! I dont drive so Im always on the bus to and from work so your trip doesnt have to be a COMPLETE waste... Also, depending on how long you are staying here, we have a few affordable hotels such as motel 6 and marriot... Stay warm stay safe and hope you have a good trip
I'm from Ohio, 2hrs south of Cleveland, and had my car break down on a trip inside Michigan on my way to the Henry Ford Museum. Sadly it had to be towed 200+ miles to get home. I hope you do find something fun to do while you wait. I like the art museum, natural science museum and arboretum. Especially since they are walking distance from each other and the art museum is free if you do the general viewing. I hope the rest of the trip is more enjoyable!
Count your blessings. I got into a wreck the day after Christmas. The front bumper, grill, one headlight, and radiator got damaged. I hoped the bodyshop would be able to fix the damages, but further inspection showed the framework was also damaged compromising the structural integrity of the vehicle so it was deemed a total loss. Safe journey Jacob. 😉👍
Ask at the hotel desk if there's an RTA stop nearby. Cleveland has a decent light rail network. You could at least get downtown to Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, etc. There's a bus that runs to Lake View Cemetery, which is a fantastic stop. If you go, make sure you see the Haserot Angel.

You should have bought that Extended Car Warranty I called you about! LOL Glad things are working out. $2700.00 is a fair price for the repair. Love your Vlogs!!!

I understand your probleme so well ... planning everything out and something unexpected happened - it's exhausting.. I hope your road trip will be a beautiful one after all this stress. Keep positive as always! Love that ^^
Should have asked dealer for a car or rented one. Downtown Cleveland and University Circle areas have a lot of cool venues where you could spend a few hours, including the Rock n Roll Museum and the Cleveland Museum of Art.
I relate so much with the feelings and experiences you talked about in this video: having to plan every little detail out beforehand, the anxiety of the pandemic, having to ignore/ drive through extreme car issues due to financial troubles.. Keep on pushing through, you got this! Safe travels, Jacob!
At least you got to Cleveland after the crazy weather scenario. It's still going on, but the higher temps make a rain storm in effect. I've been stranded before, and it was ALWAYS in Pittsburgh. It's still a fun place to visit, but you really need to know how to navigate. The hills can be crazy, and avoid the train tracks. I recommend the South Side Flats. While you're stuck in Cleveland, I would suggest the downtown area. The Great Lakes Science Center, the multiple art galleries, and the Rock & Roll Hall of fame. That's just my suggestion.
So, 30 years ago I moved away from the Cleveland area but I know exactly where you were! My ex boyfriend use to work at the Bob Evans and I use to also go roller skating right around that area. Be safe, good luck with your car and I can't wait to hear about your next adventure!
My dad is a mechanic and made sure I knew how to make simple maintenance on my car (plus I enjoyed doing it and learning) but not everyone can do that! But if I have a kitchen appliance that goes haywire you bet I freak out! 😅. I had a 1994 Ford Probe and the transmission was going out so if at any time the check engine light WASN’T on then there was a problem 😂 All that to say I totally feel your anxiety and I hope this little set back doesn’t bring you down too much! Godspeed carpetbagger!
My old neck of the woods! Right down the street from you on Brookpark Rd (to the east) is the largest candy store in the USA, b.a. Sweetie Candy Company! Less than 10 minutes away. They have a homemade ice cream shop, miniature golf courses, and make their own popcorn too. Well worth the visit if you have the time or are stranded looking for something to check out early.
I think your adventures are fun. love it when you challenge your self, not too much. i think some times i could do that much travel but here i sit in my house looking at your adventures., keep it up
Our 2016 Malibu did the same thing turned out to be a bad ignition coil pack and spark plug. Have someone with a diagnostic code reader tool take a look at it. Hope all turns out well.
Sorry to hear all of this. Remember you have the means to get through this. Also you have the physical ability to walk to where you need. It beats a poke in the eye. You are safe, have options, and got to have some great chicken!
I had this issue with my Chevy while traveling. I was stranded in Asheville with no power to my car. Then, sporadically, I'd get the low power message. It was a simple fix! It was a faulty cable to the battery. It was finally replaced under recall. It's a known issue with Chevys. A year later, while getting an oil change at a local repair shop, a frantic woman rushed in with the same car as mine. She had the same problem, and the repair shop couldn't figure it out. I informed her. She was traveling from North Carolina. The repair shop was called Full Circle Service Center. You'll get through this. Good luck, Jacob!
It's a great attitude you have Jacob been there done that I know how it feels when you get the added expenses but keep your chin up and keep on going take care of my friend safe travels.
As the old folks use to say and I do now, God willing and the creek don't rise. I will so you tomorrow. Hope to see back on the road tomorrow. Good luck.
I do tons f road trips just like you. I also have a chevy but with double the miles. My car did the same thing as yours however it was because all my coolant leaked out and the engine was overheating so it automatically reduced engine power. this was a few months ago too. Wish I had known you were having these issues earlier I was up there in Cleveland and could have assisted you. Anyway sending my prayers and if you need anything im only a short drive away from Cleveland.
Mine has done that twice in the past 4 months. First time it was a fuel thing in the engine, last time it was these strange things that are down in the motor. Just got it fixed yesterday. Bit of advice when it does that - back roads only, try to stay off of steep hills (to go up), then don't drive in the rain. These things will leave you stranded on the side of the road. Not fun to get that message
Ps - not sure what part of Cleveland you're in - but if you can find a place southwest of Cleveland - lorain or medina County - you won't be stuck in so much snow that's supposed to hit tonight.
Sorry to hear about your car so glad they are able to fix it I would suggest since you travel so much to purchase the extra insurance that helps cover your costs if your car breaks down. I hope you get back on the road soon safe travels look forward to seeing more of your adventures
Did some research on your problem, there is a service bulletin on the 2020 Equinox turbo. My be covered for free. I would call other dealers to make sure your getting the right service and price.
Having to deal with an accident near home can be stressful enough. I can't imagine having one hundreds and thousands of miles away while on the road. Hope your Chevy gets repaired as soon as possible.
I was stuck in Holbrook Arizona in the early 2000s and went to get a bite to eat. Told the waitress I was having my RV look at by a local Mechanic. She responded by saying, “Sweetie you better go ahead and get a room.” I was there for a week.
Isn't there anything to visit whilst you wait? Show us the bus to a museum or something. Time will fly and it'll get your mind off things you can't control. Have fun CB!
Welcome to Cleveland, I noticed that you were eatting at the Bob Evans next to the Gas Station that I work at.... I would recommend Olmstead Falls for your visit, there are Gift Shoppes their and a home made Carmeled Popcorn shoppe there. There is a shop called the Rift off of Columbia and Bagley Road, they sell handmade unique items there, it's worth going to. When you are heading towards Columbus you should stop at a small town called Sugar Creek. What's in Sugar Creek, you might ask? In Sugar Creek you will see the largest Cuckoo Clock in the world. Also, don't forget to visit the Fairy shoppe there, inside the shoppe it looks like an incredible fairy garden. Also worth going to...
Sorry for not able to vlog a museum or roadside attractions cause you need your car fixed. Things do happen and you have to get that taken care of for now. 🙏😳 Take Care Jacob. Your videos are a joy to watch.🎥
Very amateur car guy here- a turbo gives your car more power. they are used a lot these days for better fuel economy. they have two little round fan blade things where one spins from the exhaust coming out and that turns the other one to blow air into where the gas does its combustion thing. that gives the combustion more pop for more power or these days better fuel economy. if you're ever home and that happens again you might be able to find someone that rebuilds turbos for around $400. of course the dealership is just going to replace it. they aren't screwing you , they are just going to replace it because its a broken part and they dont do turbo taking aparting. hopefully everything else holds up for you! safe travels.
We did the same in 2009, never looked back. Most miles we ever got out of a Chevy was 115,000 on our last Tahoe. We've averaged over 215,000 mi on our Subaru Foresters since. Minimal problems, dependable vehicles, perfect for road trips.
I had the same thing occur while driving through Death Valley. Ended up two exhaust sensors went out. The repair cost $$$$, but it as still cheaper than a new car.
Hey Jacob. Sorry to hear about troubles with your car. I voted for Columbus, OH. I visited the COSI museum some years ago. I think you've visited before, but maybe go back and see what's new. All the best to you. Thanks for the vids!
Hang in there...I love your positive attitude in such a stressful situation...just want to leave a note in that on the first weekend in March..you are invited to come down to Dallas for our Annual North Texas Irish Festival at the state fair grounds...My husband and I work the Cultural History area and will have models of mythical creatures of Ireland that I make myself...so would love to see you come down...but in the meantime stay safe and hope you get your car fixed quickly.
If you go to Harrisburg, try stopping up in Scranton, PA. The Steamtown National Historic Site is great. Also, the coalmine tours and several stops including shops that include The Office merchandise one is Coopers Restaurant.
I can't quite spare $2700, but I hope this helps! 😊 Stay positive, Jacob!

A very little something towards the repairs and as a thank you for your awesome content that has entertained me all these years ❤
You should ask the Dealership if they have a loaner they can let you use. There is usually no cost and most dealerships do this for people.
Dealerships around here will charge you per day if your fix isn’t under a warranty or if your insurance won’t cover it
Thus is facts
Right on , notify him immediately
Not since COVID, no loaners available

Hey, I’m in Cleveland! You totally need to go to the west side market!! It’s one of the best things here
One of my favorite places in ohio!
Ouch! That sucks but at least you were in a major city and not in the middle of nowhere. Safe travels!
Definitely been there with the sketchy cars! It's funny how you just learn to compensate and it becomes a normal part of driving.
Jacob, you should drive about 8 miles down 71 to Strongsville, Ohio. The largest Toboggan Slide is here. It's on Pearl RD.
Sorry to hear about your car so glad they are able to fix it I would suggest since you travel so much to purchase the extra insurance that helps cover your costs if your car breaks down. I hope you get back on the road soon safe travels look forward to seeing more of your adventures
Great attitude! Hang in there!
Great video and I'm so impressed that you took your hat off in the restaurant! You are the MAN! Welcome to Cleveland!!!
Some time bad things happen to good people. Love all your videos MR CB.
Keep that great positive attitude and Jacob!
I was stuck in Holbrook Arizona in the early 2000s and went to get a bite to eat. Told the waitress I was having my RV look at by a local Mechanic. She responded by saying, “Sweetie you better go ahead and get a room.”
I was there for a week.
Isn't there anything to visit whilst you wait? Show us the bus to a museum or something. Time will fly and it'll get your mind off things you can't control. Have fun CB!
It looks like you was on Brookpark rd next time go to Bob's big boy at w. 130 and brookpark rd good food
Oh no! Sorry to hear this! This just happened to us in our Chevy Captiva about 3 weeks ago. It was in the motor. Fly wheel I think they called it.
gave up GM for Subaru over 20 years ago - well-engineered and reliable - safe travels
We did the same in 2009, never looked back. Most miles we ever got out of a Chevy was 115,000 on our last Tahoe. We've averaged over 215,000 mi on our Subaru Foresters since. Minimal problems, dependable vehicles, perfect for road trips.
Fingers crossed for you Carpetbagger. Hope you’re car is better
Sorry that you had to experience this and it ruined what you had planned. Good that you are safe and could still make an entertaining video.
