Nice. Good reaction video. These girls write, arrange, and play their own music. That sets them apart from some other bands. The bass and drums are really strong. Good first reaction! When I discovered Band-Maid in July 2020 binging is exactly what I did. Their live video was pack of awesomeness. Live is where the vocals shine - and this band, does whatever they want. They play all kinds of rock and more.
We Vikings can appreciate when a gang of women in maid outfits are a force to reckon with. Oh, if you expect incoming hate, why not get some at your own leisure? Choose the live version of "Hate?" (official live video) to get a lesson on giving feedback on the behaviour of certain men, while also enjoying how Kanami (lead guitar) and Misa (bass) like to have conversations under Akane's kind moderation (drums) during live gigs. For everyone who thought rock was dying - oh no it never was. It hid out in the distant corners of the world. We Scandies have taken care of the darkest metal over the decades, we know Japan has been caring for both rock and jazz and some astonishing fusion, while Mexico has protected the not-so-secret group of 3 sisters since they were 10 years old for a decade, called The Warning (confusingly also the name of a "fire" Band-Maid song). Welcome to Band-Maid! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. They don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. They are extremely diverse and have an extensive back catalogue featuring Punk, Pop-Punk, Hard-Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, Prog, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Rap etc. From face melting 220 bpm punk-prog to ballads, instrumentals to acoustics they do it all. Band Maid are asked to write many themes and closing themes for Anime. This was one of those. Band Maid are all great musicians and the bass is featured in most of their songs. As is a duel between the lead guitar and Bass. I am old fashioned and love this band because it reminds me of the great days of proper rock music. Band Maid can write and play most types of music and are just unique live. As they are in their thirties I am sure they would thank you for the rebellious teenager tag.
Truth be told, I binged BAND-MAID for the first 6 months. BAND-MAID features all their players including the "barefoot bass assassin" MISA. More MISA? Check out HATE-LIVE. I call that the honeymoon period with any new band. Eventually they will settle and find their proper place in amongst all the other music you like. As far as Japanese bands go, I've had that honeymoon period with e.g. BAND-MAID, Gordon, GLIM SPANKY, Hitsujibungaku (羊文学), ASTERISM, BimBamBoom, Bray me, Wang Dang Doodle, re:lapse, Rubens (リュベンス), tiny yawn, and (right now) Miyuna (みゆな). It has got to the point that I should really change my channel name, but I'm sort of stuck with it.
Saw Amon Amarth in concert last summer. They're very much the same sort of fun show as Band-Maid. Regarding predictability, it's been said of Band-Maid, "Second verse, never same as the first!" You like fire? Try the Warning MV from them... 😃🔥 Rock on, Viking!
New sub here. You stand upon the precipice of either falling in love with BandMaid or getting distracted and thinking they are just another band. They're not. They are arguably the greatest proper rock and roll band of the 21st century. Hyperbole is very difficult to avoid with BandMaid so screw it. I envy you so much. There is so much wonderful music,, tears and laughter ahead of you if you keep listening. 😢😊 There's no way to describe here why all the things they do combine to create the music. Tons of riffs - enough to make an album for most bands in one song. More hooks than grandad's tackle box. Genre bending writing and performances. In damn near every song a sing along bit for the fans to keep us engaged. Word play between English and Japanese homophones is not uncommon. Deep collaboration between all members to allow everyone to shine. What they have done is harness their egos in service to the song. Akane Hirose and MISA are IMHO the greatest rhythm section currently active in rock music. Truly inventive bass and drumming - not over played but always interesting with unusual choices that make the songs rich. They're not just keeping a beat EVER! Magnificent composition and stellar guitar work from Kanami Tono and equally magnificent vocals from Saiki Atsumi grab us by the ears.Then There's Miku Kobato- no Miku no BandMaid. Founder, chief lyricist, vocal harmonies sung while playing rhythm guitar she is the backbone of this group. She's the lead singer who fired herself so that the lead singer would have a more rock and roll voice. She's the singer who learned to play guitar while in the band. A paid professional learning her instrument on the fly. Now she has her own signature model of Zematis electric guitar. She willed BandMaid into existence. I haven't even begun to say all I could. After 10 years together with the same line up, these ladies are beyond a tight group, they can read each other like a book, they have become best friends (Yes, they actually like each other), almost sisters, they have a back catalogue of over 100 songs, these ladies are the real deal, IMO one of the best touring rock bands in the business

Band-Maid starts lots of binge fests. They're a songwriting machine with a broken ON switch that can't be turned off and the catchy-ness dial cranked past eleven. Their songwriting is phenomenally consistent: if they have a fault, it's that they write too many great songs. Every member of Band-Maid possesses a deep skill stack, but they never try to beat you over the head with egotistical demonstrations, instead they only serve the song. For example: their bass player, Misa, has become quite adept at instantaneously switching between fingerstyle, plectrum, and slapping; her pick appears and disappears magically. She never does this to show off but to serve the song. Their rhythm guitarist, Miku Kobato, writes most of their lyrics and has a talent for blending English and Japanese together poetically using puns, homophones,, and blurring the meanings of words. And then there's lead guitarist Kanami Tono who leads the band in composition. She composes on whatever instrument she has at hand: piano, MIDI keyboard, guitar. Kanami is genius level and has used many creative means to include all the members in the songwriting process.

Nice. Good reaction video. These girls write, arrange, and play their own music. That sets them apart from some other bands. The bass and drums are really strong. The songwriter (lead guitar) is a genius, and the vocals are perfect. I saw them last summer and they are even stronger in person. Check out Puzzle Official Live Video.

Good first reaction! When I discovered Band-Maid in July 2020 binging is exactly what I did. Their live video was pack of awesomeness. Live is where the vocals shine - and this band, does whatever they want. They play all kinds of rock and more.

We Scandies have taken care of the darkest metal over the decades, we know Japan has been caring for both rock and jazz and some astonishing fusion, while Mexico has protected the not-so-secret group of 3 sisters since they were 10 years old for a decade, called The Warning (confusingly also the name of a "fire" Band-Maid song). Band-Maid and The Warning are hanging out in Japan at the moment, a fact that is melting minds all over the world.

Welcome to Band-Maid! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. They don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. They are extremely diverse and have an extensive back catalogue featuring Punk, Pop-Punk, Hard-Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, Prog, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Rap etc. From face melting 220 bpm punk-prog to ballads, instrumentals to acoustics they do it all. They can make you headbang, they can make you pogo, they can make you cry like a baby. They are also five of the nicest people in music, without a shred of ego. They are funny and fun and world class musicians to boot. They are currently into their 11th year with the original line up. They are all in their 30's btw, so not really rebellious teens lol!
Btw, Miku the rhythm guitarist (red rose) formed the band. She had the idea of Band-Maid after working as a maid in Japanese maid cafe's. Her idea is a concept called "The Gap" - that is what you see (cute maids) is NOT what you get (Hard Rock/Punk/Metal). They take the maid café concept literally. These ladies are masters at their instruments: Kanami (composer and lead guitar), Akane (drums) and Misa (bass). Then there is lead vocalist Saiki who is perfect for the Band Maid sound and Miku Kobato (rythm guitar, pure energy, most lyrics, fantastic backing vocals and harmonies). Miku wasn't able to play the guitar when she founded the bandin 2013.
I don't know of any other band where the fans' playlists differ so much. So, this is just a quite random selection of songs: For some very special live videos try Freedom, Play, Real existence and Endless Story. With Moratorium (Live at Zepp), Rinne (MV) and Dice you can hear more hard rock while more catchy songs are Choose me (MV), Bestie (MV) and Alone (MV). And if you want to hear some ballads then maybe About Us (MV) and Daydreaming (MV) are good picks. But don't miss some of their instrumentals like From now on (MV) and Onset (Live). Band Maid are asked to write many themes and closing themes for Anime. This was one of those. Band Maid are all great musicians and the bass is featured in most of their songs. As is a duel between the lead guitar and Bass. I am old fashioned and love this band because it reminds me of the great days of proper rock music. Band Maid can write and play most types of music and are just unique live. As they are in their thirties I am sure they would thank you for the rebellious teenager tag.

I call that the honeymoon period with any new band. Eventually they will settle and find their proper place in amongst all the other music you like.
As far as Japanese bands go, I've had that honeymoon period with e.g. BAND-MAID, Gordon, GLIM SPANKY, Hitsujibungaku (羊文学), ASTERISM, BimBamBoom, Bray me, Wang Dang Doodle, re:lapse, Rubens (リュベンス), tiny yawn, and (right now) Miyuna (みゆな). It has got to the point that I should really change my channel name, but I'm sort of stuck with it.

New sub here. You stand upon the precipice of either falling in love with BandMaid or getting distracted and thinking they are just another band. They're not. They are arguably the greatest proper rock and roll band of the 21st century. Hyperbole is very difficult to avoid with BandMaid so screw it. I envy you so much. There is so much wonderful music,, tears and laughter ahead of you if you keep listening. 😢😊
There's no way to describe here why all the things they do combine to create the music. Tons of riffs - enough to make an album for most bands in one song. More hooks than grandad's tackle box. Genre bending writing and performances. In damn near every song a sing along bit for the fans to keep us engaged. Word play between English and Japanese homophones is not uncommon. Deep collaboration between all members to allow everyone to shine. What they have done is harness their egos in service to the song. Akane Hirose and MISA are IMHO the greatest rhythm section currently active in rock music. Truly inventive bass and drumming - not over played but always interesting with unusual choices that make the songs rich. They're not just keeping a beat EVER! Magnificent composition and stellar guitar work from Kanami Tono and equally magnificent vocals from Saiki Atsumi grab us by the ears.Then There's Miku Kobato- no Miku no BandMaid. Founder, chief lyricist, vocal harmonies sung while playing rhythm guitar she is the backbone of this group. She's the lead singer who fired herself so that the lead singer would have a more rock and roll voice. She's the singer who learned to play guitar while in the band. A paid professional learning her instrument on the fly. Now she has her own signature model of Zematis electric guitar. She willed BandMaid into existence.
I haven't even begun to say all I could. Come and see for yourself!

Band-Maid starts lots of binge fests. They're a songwriting machine with a broken ON switch that can't be turned off and the catchy-ness dial cranked past eleven. Their songwriting is phenomenally consistent: if they have a fault, it's that they write too many great songs. Every member of Band-Maid possesses a deep skill stack, but they never try to beat you over the head with egotistical demonstrations, instead they only serve the song. For example: their bass player, Misa, has become quite adept at instantaneously switching between fingerstyle, plectrum, and slapping; her pick appears and disappears magically. She never does this to show off but to serve the song. Their rhythm guitarist, Miku Kobato, writes most of their lyrics and has a talent for blending English and Japanese together poetically using puns, homophones,, and blurring the meanings of words. And then there's lead guitarist Kanami Tono who leads the band in composition. She composes on whatever instrument she has at hand: piano, MIDI keyboard, guitar. Kanami is genius level and has used many creative means to include all the members in the songwriting process.
Great reaction because Band Maid is one of the best Japanese rock bands. Now if you want a little heavier sound try Nemophila they are a metal - metal core band. Try the song Dissension by Nemophila.
They're self described as "hard rock", but have strong influences from may genres, from "speed metal", through funk, through blues, and traditional japanese themes - don't forget to check out their "nemesis"BANK-MAIKO for their more acoustic music, too.
Thanks for the react, but don't compare Band-maid to baby metal the only similarity between the to band is their japanese, band-maid write their music, play their themself their song, band maid is more a rock band than a metal band. And if you want to continue your journay with them i suggest you the song " Hate? " live from yokohama arena or the music video for the song "Blooming" (that i think it's a masterpiece)
