  • HOW MUCH POWER IS AN AMR500 BLOWER WORTH? CAN I INSTALL AN AMR BLOWER ON THE 1994 GEO METRO XFI MOTOR? HOW MUCH BOOST WILL THE METRO XFI MOTOR TAKE? DOES THE XFI MOTOR EVEN RUN? DOES IT HAVE COMPRESSION? DOES IT NEED A BATH? CHECK OUT THIS VIDEO WHERE I EXPLAIN THAT I BOUGHT A METRO XFI ONLY BECAUSE I HAD AN AMR500 SUPERCHARGER SITTING IN MY GARAGE. I NEEDED A CAR/MOTOR TO DYNO TEST IT ON! BEFORE ADDING BOOST, I NEEDED TO FIND OUT IF THE MOTOR EVEN WORKED? WAS THE 1.0L MOTOR HITTING ON ALL 3 CYLINDERS? WHY IS IT CALLED PANDA X-PRESS? WHAT DID IT NEED TO GET RUNNING PROPERLY? LET'S JUST GET THE MOTOR STARTED HERE IN PART 1.

Those old metros never die. Absolutely gutless especially with the 3 cylinder but they got stupid good fuel economy for the time. A friend in high school had one and we would take it everywhere because $5 in gas would get you 200 miles. This was the late 90s/early 00s

I drove my mom's 3 cylinder Chevy Sprint to college back in 1993.
It was a 3 speed auto. After racing on the motocross track against my buddy in his 2 wheel drive Toyota truck, you had to shift manually.
If it was in drive, you were in 3 Rd gear. It would not shift from the gear you had selected.
It knew what it needed, driven!
My Mom took it to a transmission shop and they told her to leave it, people would pay to have that done to a car.
48mpg religiously. Not bad for a four door car.
Now that is a smart car.

It got 54mpg in a car that weighs 800lbs more.

I have a few vids on my channel of the metros me n my buddy n my son have worked on. Check out more power geo.

My guess for the reason the timing cover is that way: someone wanted to change the timing belt but didn't want to remove all the pulleys and get everything else out of the way, so they bent the plastic cover back, made the change (or didn't) then let the alt-belt self clearance. Probably why that bolt is missing as well.
Stoked to see what you do with this, and hoping for a Richard Holdener / @robotcantina8957 crossover episode (like so many other commenters have said.)

    • @hayden6056
      @hayden6056 4 месяца назад +1

It might not be a little large for it depending on the displacement of the Briggs and Stratton usually they're a low constant rpm decent capacity motor.
These don't always make boost on things 1.5 litres or over because the motor can take the flow.
It only produces 500cc per revolution. At a 2:1 ratio that's 1 litre or .035cfm at 3000 rpm that would be 105 CFM.

Those cheap bolt together battery terminals are junk. The plate is thin so bends before it really clamps tight. Which allows it to get surface corrosion in there and will loose connection.
You can take it apart, wire brush everything, and they’ll usually start working again. But, crimp on terminals are much better if you can’t get a pre-made cable.

The XFI motor is if it is still original has a special low rpm torque cam, and low friction 2 ring pistons (1 comp ring and 1 oil ring set), plus the ECU and highway geared transmission. Should handle boost fine as those rings/pistons leak down quickly when worn. They are known to burn exhaust valves when ran hot and egr is clogged. Would like to see how you control timing as boost increases and add fuel. Thank you for all the videos you do!!!
