The vortec 8.1 chevy. With a camshaft
As far as I’m concerned, you WIN!
L92 6.2L all aluminumm,with a cam!
I would pick a carbureted big block, the biggest one i could find, of any make, and the one mod would be camshaft
Wouldnt have to change anything else to make it work
A 6.0 or 6.2 ls with a cam will make way better power.
6.0 liter Chevy. Cam swap.
If you cam an ls you need injectors right? And a tune?
@@anthonyanderson1479find an l96 they have flex fuel 50 lb injectors.
@@anthonyanderson1479 depending on what cam you choose like a cam for higher rpm range then yes you need bigger injectors but like a Truck Norris Jr. Cam you don't need valve springs nor bigger injectors because it's only going to gain power and torque within the stock rpm range like from 2500-6500rpm
Of all the 5.7 hemi vehicles I have seen in the yards not a single one has ever had body damage. You can probably imagine why.
They’re dogs. 5.7s have junk heads.
lots of noise when you rattle the intakes back and forth
Pre 09 dropping valve sets

Pontiac 455 HO LS5 or 454 Gen 6 L29 with an Isky Racing Camshaft Full Kit Swap.
Cadillac LSA engine. Add BTR Red hot Cam
Clever!
L92, truck Norris Jr cam
We would like to see LS BIG BANG TEST round 2. All new video, especially that gen 3 vs gen 4 test. "Was it torque that killed the gen 3?" 😊
Big bang early 1uzfe would be awsome. Thanks Richard love the content from nz.
Hey Richard can you find me an L92 for $500 and I’ll pay shipping?
Call the junkyard
I’d take the truck 351w with cam…. look at how far the injectors are…. Definitely 351w
6.0ls + cam
Shame on whoever put that Mustang 5.0 in the junkyard. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one of them in a junkyard around here before.
hell yeah do a j series. i love me some jdm motors and no one ever really posts good j series stuff, at least i haven't found em
Slant 6 - you can get 400hp with simple ignition timing!!!
Looking for 6.0 liter to replace my 5.3 in my 2004 Avalanche with mild cam and injectors
I always have a good time at the Pull a Part/ You Pull It.
Used to love going. Id hoard old pulleys brackets carbs valve covers
Then (in socal) all the older stuff went next door to a 2nd yard and wanted a fortune for old junk. Regular yards had nothing good.
L96 with a brian tooley cam and springs, runs high 6s in my mustang. In the eighth of course.
I haven't seen a quadraflush in years.
would love to see j seires testing ]
70s era 454 preferably pre-EGR with a solid lifter roller cam. on a side note. you should build that VW motor. 2110 stroker kit. 90.5mm cylinders, 82mm crank (2110cc), CB performance 044 Ultra heads, Engle VZ25 cam, Dual Kadron Carbs. Pertonix Distributer. put it on the dyno and see what it makes, then stuff it in something cool, like a Manx Buggy or Karmann Ghia, or a Baja Bug and hit the dunes. or take it to import night at the drags and beat up on the Japanese Imports. it's more fun to drive a slow car fast, than a fast car slow.
@richardholdener Just want to say thank you for not having an unlimited amount of enthusiasm and desire for cars, the engines and engineering behind them. I really appreciate your channel. I've learned quite a bit from your videos.
Glad you like them!
8.0 magnum v10, finally solve the myth of whether viper parts fit, see what kind of v8 parts fit and what makes MO POWA
I would take a 8.1 big block Chevy, and de-stroke it, now the factory camshaft is kinda big for the motors displacement and if I could do 2 mods I would carb the thing
‘61 T-bird likely was a 390. They did put the 352 in cars but I never heard of a Thunderbird with one. I believe the 360 version was only in light trucks.
Any of the 1970 Big blocks and throw a better cam in.
2nd choice would be a Lightning 5.4 and get a smaller pulley
2018 or newer 6.4 hemi scat pac stage 2 cam
That late 80's f series had a 351w. you can tell by the egg shape intake ports in the lower Mani. The 5.0 trucks are the systemax style intake ports
what are socal wrecking yards wanting for ls engines these days Richard?
See Gen 1 stuff anymore or is that a bust?
Yards I called claim to have a bunch of low mi 20 yr old ls I dont buy it.
Still seem to want a bunch of dough
I'm gonna go against the grain and say I wanna see an iron Duke with the super duty package. 2.7l making 230+HP. 🥵
I found it F136 Ferrari. Engine, one time, in a maserati, I think it was an 08 or an 09.
As for the engine cam in any LS
I put a BTR cam in the L76 of my '09 G8 GT and am now many 400 hp at the rear wheels with a tune. No change to anything else.
Vortec 4200 will produce good NA power as it's 4 valves per cylinder.
Just being a 1969 240Z anything on the car makes it worth money
L67 GM supercharged 3.8 L with smaller pulley swapped.
DO THE 5.4 2V PLEASE
My pick is a 1964 426 Max Wedge with Trick Flow max wedge heads
Id pick a late model 6.2l Ford from the f series trucks. Only mod would be a healthy cam
09+ Hemi and add a Cam.
Grab the 1UZ and watch your subscriber numbers climb
Any big block I could find and I would put longtube headers on it and drive the wheels off it
Great video. Watching from New Zealand
Those hemis will drop valve seats. It's more common on the 09 and newer hemis
Richard, we desperately need an air cooled VW bug engine buuld
69 and 1/2 240Z. Might be worth restoring.
7.3 Godzilla with all the cam it could handle in stock trim.
I want to find a lq4, 4l80, and a couple l67, a th400..
My pick: the Honda J Series engine with ported heads.
I would take the '83 454 with a new camshaft!
Aluminum 5.3 out of something rear ended.
8.1 with the aftermarket aluminum heads
61 and newer thunderbird fe is 390 or bigger.
496 Chevy big block with a cam
That aluminum 5.3 needs a new home
5.0 with a slightly hotter cam.
L67, cam.. and a turbo. 😅
That 97 4.6 swap a pi top end on it
the prices are too damn high
Thanks for the video.
wow i can stoll the wrecking yard virtually and not be out of breath
it was also hot
After making my way past the fwd GM section I'm out of breath😂
Hemi 6.1 or 6.4 big cam
This one of the yards outside the base?
so cal
@@richardholdener1727 Didnt you use to be in the vacaville area?
8.1 alum heads
69 z car was a real possibility. That's when the first started and if that is the case, That's a hidden gem. Could be restored and be VERY Valuable.
258A
LS7 TSP cam
455 cam
Man I wish we still had salvage yards like that. There used to be 4 of them within 10 minutes of driving. Salvage yards used to be one of my favorite places to go- I used to think there were so many possibilities. Now, I would have to drive 4-6 hours to find a yard you can walk through, and even then, you are supervised, have to tell them exactly what part you want, and the attendant will take it off(if the attendant doesn't feel like taking the part off, or the yard will only sell large parts, which happened to me a couple off times, then you're out of luck). Unfortunately, you are not allowed to be alone or touch anything anymore.
a 61 T bird is a 390 with 300 hp
we had a ‘62 Tbird. 390 with 300 HP. 61-63’s were the same, all with nickname “bullet birds” and NOT because they were fast! Big option then was the Roadster model with dealer installed tri power, 3 deuce carbs.
Slant 6 & RV cam, somehow i fell in love with these after my 1st build in 1982
If you find a 13b rotary, pull it for me. I'll give you a cookie
I've never seen a rotary in the yards
@@richardholdener1727 I've seen a couple at picknpulls oddly enough
I think them 706 LS head is best for any build but I want dipple holes in the top of the inside to make more form air to flow in better
It really depends on your application and what you are trying to accomplish.
@@bri-manhunter2654 I’m trying to build a Chevy impala ss 1998 front wheel drive. Also Chevy 2002 Chevy Tahoe.
@@bri-manhunter2654 u ever seen anyone supple the inside of there intake
@@marcusgeter9072. Supple? And there is no SS in 98’
1970 buick 455, cam it
good luck finding that
@richardholdener1727
No kidding. I let mine fall prey to my ex wife. I had to sell it a few years back. During the divorce. 70 Skylark. 455 th400 9" rear 3.70 gear.
Had a TA Performance intake long tube headers and a Gs 107 cam. I sure miss that car. Had it from 1987 to 2008
Weight o bout 8million lbs
