- After such accolades like the Sandy Cheeks Movie, can this really get any worse? Well judging by just the art style at least, apparently it can... The Spongebob Movie 5 is here, or Plankton: The Movie. Featuring a plotline probably in the original TV series, Spongebob shoved into a weird role, an ensemble cast on both sides, and more Paramount Nickelodeon antics. I don't have high hopes for this movie. But it's here nonetheless. Oh God... They Revealed a Plankton Movie...

I actually watched the leak version of the movies and while I don't want to give away spoilers, I will say that it is definitely better than the sandy cheeks movie.

Actually give the film a chance! I’ve seen the leak, and I can confirm it’s miles better than the Sandy film, and Plankton actually becomes providence in the overall plot!
The plankton film character looks strong and his humor in the show always rocked. But the fact it Looks like a Miraculous 🐞episode budget is bullshit.

As much as I absolutely adore SpongeBob, I personally think that Nickelodeon (and paramount global as a whole) would’ve been better off had they allowed the show to conclude with the first movie and went on to create more original content (as well as actually exploring and expanding into international content such as anime)

that's funny because they are a couple nods to the first movie in The Plankton Movie. In one scene one of the mind control bucket helmets falls on SpongeBob's head and he says "All Hail Plankton" a couple times. And of course the Gooby Goobers makes a cameo appearance, then again the GG ice cream bar has become a regular setting in the show lately.

I've actually watched the full thing with my friends. It's a better movie, I guess, but I didn't have nearly as much fun picking it apart and laughing at it. Don't remember much, but it looks way worse than I remember it being

It's written by Plankton's VA, Lawrence, and he's one of the best writers on SpongeBob. So I don't doubt It.

Interesting how Squidward and Patrick had smaller roles in a movie too. Squidward barely appears, in the beginning he blows Spongebob away with his clarinet and towards the end is his ONLY speaking role, where his house is upside down and Patrick's rock is on top of it.

Saw the leaks on Discord and honestly, it clears the previous three Spongebob films easily. Not as good as the first (obviously) and has some groaner gags, but this is a comfortable second regardless. Won't say much but it's really creative at some points and elevated by the fact Plankton's VA was the main writer on it.

Well the movie was leaked earlier and to the surprise of many the movie is actually really good. Some even say it’s just as good as, if not better than Sponge Out of Water. But we just have to wait and see

I dunno what reviews you’re looking at, but I get the impression it’s kind of echo chamber-y. Like, not to discredit what they’re saying, but I’ve seen a mix of positive to lukewarm reviews of the leaked movie, not the strictly negative hatred you’re seeing.
And as someone who watched the leaked Plankton movie, I’m gonna echo what I’ve seen a lot of comments saying- it’s actually pretty solid. Not just by modern SpongeBob standards, in my opinion, but in general, it’s one of the better pieces of SpongeBob media period.
Like, if you watch it and still don’t like it, it’s your opinion, and that’s totally fine. But I’m personally looking forward to actually watching this officially, since it’s pretty solid.
Well hey, at least it looks like the live action characters don't play much of a role in this movie, which *should* mean we're not going to want to gouge our eyes out with a thousand-degree knife for the entire last 15 minutes of the movie, unlike the last one
I've seen the movie and the live-action segments are pretty brief. I don't wanna spoil all of it but It's only for like two 30 second scenes.
I've seen it last year, i'm pretty sure the live action segments don't last very long and they aren't common at all. I don't even remember any being in the movie they're that insignificant.

I've seen the leaked version and still own it. It was actually pretty good. 6/10 if compared it to good spongebob and 8/10 compared to current spongebob. This is far significantly better than the Sandy Cheeks movie.

I have seen the leaked version of this movie and can safely say that it is good. Like, actually pretty damn good. Yeah, the animation is a little cheap/off-putting but the core of the film is quality. Well-written and it's a pretty great study of Plankton's character. Plus I really liked the musical numbers. I'd give it a B- personally
Speaking as someone who tends not to like new SpongeBob stuff, I thought the movie was pretty good when I saw the leak. It's actually my second favorite SpongeBob movie, even. A distant second, but a second. That trailer wasn't that good though, so I could totally see why someone would assume the worst after how shockingly terrible the Sandy movie was.

As a young writer, I can appreciate this movie for trying to keep the script as fun as possible.

was able to watch this movie from someone leaking it and although i havent watched many 3d spongebob movies its probably not the worst of them all? there's a hint of bits that don't land and "hey look at this thing you liked from old spongebob!!! do you remember that???" moments but what hits is pretty solid!! the 2d bits are probably the best parts of the movie and it probably has the least live action since sponge out of water which i think is a vast improvement

The Plot: The Movie starts with a song that explains that is another Spongebob Movie until Plankton breaks the 4th Wall and interrumpts the song saying that is his OWN movie and explains his new plan to steal The Krabby Patty Secret Formula, meanwhile Karen is hanging out with her friends, who are Pearl, Mrs Puff, and Sandy (AKA: The Gal Pals).
Plankton interrupts them and tries another plan to steal The Krabby Patty Secret Formula, and fails, Karen decides that if they make the Chum Bucket more appealing they will get customers and they don’t need the formula, and Plankton gets pissed at that idea and destroys everything Karen did to the Chum Bucket. Karen has enough of Plankton and turns even more evil and starts making a Super Huge Karen Mech using every single building in Bikini Bottom so that she can take over the world. SpongeBob and Plankton team up, with SpongeBob hypnotizing Plankton repeatedly to get to the bottom of why he made Karen so mad, we get the backstory of Karen and Plankton, and so remembering how he made Karen, Plankton tries to make a new Karen to destroy the original Karen, but she immediately joins original Karen.
The Gal Pals end up saving Plankton and SpongeBob and they realize the reason why Karen is so evil is that she took out her Empathy Chip, so the Gal Pals decide that plankton needs to apologize to her, and connect the Empathy Chip to his brain so he can realize what he did was wrong.
The Gal Pals, SpongeBob, and Plankton all break into Karen’s mech and start destroying the engine room, while Plankton goes to apologize to Karen.
The apology goes well, and the mech gets destroyed beacuse Spongebob and Patrick destroyed and eaten the Potatoes.
All is forgiven, Karen and Plankton are back together, and everything goes back to normal, the movie ends with Plankton breaking the 4th Wall again saying that the movie is over and needs to move away the screen too far away.
Things that I forgot to write: There's a reference of the Mind-Control Bucket from the first movie (In the exact scene where it contains a Handsome Plankton on it)
There's another scene where Plankton sings that he was a Jerk.
And a recurrent joke on this movie is about potatoes.
Handsome plankton is something i thought I would never see in my life, first handsome squidward now this.

I could swear that there was an episode of Spongebob that had a similar plot. Plankton was in a rut and Karen thought she could do better so he agreed to let her run things, but then it got out of hand and he felt like she went too far. He then asked Spongebob to help him get the "old" Karen back because he missed his wife. I can't remember which season it was, but I feel like it was in the earlier seasons.
Edit: Maybe I'm crazy and just mashing up a bunch of episodes. I can't find the one I'm thinking of, so maybe I imagined it from various episodes I've seen.

I miss the old days of Nickelodeon when they used to give their other shows a fair chance to shine, now they are like “SpongeBob this, SpongeBob that!” Remember the episode where Mr krabs makes the Krusty krab all SpongeBob themes cuz it’s giving him so much money?? That episode is the freaking representation of what Nickelodeon has become.
At this point, spongebob is like the lazuras pit of animated ip's. Everytime they try to bring the show back with a new movie or season, the series just becomes and feels even more corrupted with horrible visuals and writing, straying further from its original self, such a damn shame man let this series rip like it shouldve years ago 😔🙏
