    First time I've seen video from the inside of a dust collection system, that was pretty cool. I hope all the seals on your camera and light held out the dust. You are an engineer, whether or not you have a degree, you are definitely an engineer, and a qualified creator. I love you stuff, it always gets my head spinning with what I could make and "maybe" improve for my own situation/use. Thank you.

    Just a thought, attach an outlet with a blastgate on your small dust buckets. When they get full attach a hose from your large dust collector and empty to your large container. Disregard if you think it wouldn't work. Keep up the good work, great videos.

    • @MariusHornberger
      @MariusHornberger  7 лет назад

      The chips at the bottom get quite compressed and you won't be able to suck them out.

  • @davidjohnston1971
    @davidjohnston1971 7 лет назад

    Perhaps cutting slots in the sides of your wood dust collection cabinets, and installing strips of plexiglass as sight windows. This would allow you to keep an eye on the volume, and empty them before dust migration into areas you prefer didn't get as dusty.

  • @davidmcdaniel9921
    @davidmcdaniel9921 7 лет назад +1

    For your dust bin, the clear one, you might install a 4" dust collection gate in the back/base of it so you don't ever have to empty it, just connect a 4" hose and empty it, then disconnect the hose until needed again.

    Hi Marius. Just a thought for you, one small port hole about 3 inch in diameter with polycarbonate should make a great inspection view to tell you the can is full. The can you made one vertical window like that in your filter box door would work for your small wooden can.

    Just a thought on the broken clips on the smaller separator - swap the positions of the components, mount the clips on the barrel and the dowels on the lid. Also remove the hinge completely and just have the clips, as you show on the larger separator the suction keeps it in place.

  • @marceltimmers1290
    @marceltimmers1290 7 лет назад

    Hi mate. I think that the open sides of the pleats from the folded filter are letting a lot of the dust through onto the secondary filters. Perhaps stapling the sides shut might help.

  • @censeless24

  • @veeerzes
    @veeerzes 7 лет назад

    The mesh in the dustcollector can create a new "risk". If the mesh is clogged up, the pressure in the room above it will decrease. If the plexiglas is not strong enough, it can collapse under the low pressure or "vacuum".

    • @MariusHornberger
      @MariusHornberger  7 лет назад +1

    Hey Marius, not sure if you've seen any of Matthias's videos on dust collection, but I believe he mentions a few times that the tiniest microscopic particles make it through the air filters until they have a coating of dust on them... So maybe (as long as you have enough suction) you may find it beneficial to leave that fine layer of dust on the final filters?

    • @MariusHornberger
      @MariusHornberger  7 лет назад +1

      Yes, that might be true, but I'm also using much higher quality filters than he does. So I rather have clean before the dust really settles in and ruins the filter.

    i was wonder " what is better" a smal hose with a higher speed or a wider hose with less speed, and is a wider circle for je cyclone better/ more efficient as a smaller one and the hight ?is more hight also more efficient ? and your input of your last cyclone is more square, does that have a better result?

      Rainer Zufall in Sweden at least, you can buy various magnets in any home improvement stores, including Bauhaus and Hornbach (both of which we have within reasonable distance from me, by the way). :)

    • @MariusHornberger
      @MariusHornberger  7 лет назад

      I bought a set of 100 online (5€), because I needed them for other projects as well.

    • @superdau
      @superdau 7 лет назад

      Can't remember ever seeing them in a Bauhaus here in Austria, but I also never really searched for some, because I bought some way before I really needed some on ebay. It's much cheaper there if you want a few (and you want a few because they are handy to have around ;) ).
      You can always try out fridge magnets (they will be weaker but might still work). Or check out 1€ shops for random stuff that has magnets in it. If that fails Conrad, Reichelt or Pollin (the electronics shops) should have some Neodymium magnets. Although if you aren't close to one of them and have to order them you might as well buy them in bulk from China.

      Marius Hornberger Yeah we got the lathe out of the first story of a dentalprothesis lab cause the guy who own it had his private workshop there. We had a spiral staircase too also a pretty small one but we had the luck that the piano moving people across the street helped us for only 50€ and at home its was level with the floor that was a big relief. Now we are preparing the already build garage and workshop so it can be finished and we can install the new lathe and the mill that also came with it. And we didnt have to build a stand for any of it cause the were already with it

    Marius. Does the loose filters act solely as prefilters? If so I can see wanting to stretch them out to clean them but doesn't some sawdust laden air get behind the pre-filter because the pre-filter has no edge structure to prevent the dirty air getting behind it. This comment is meant for the wooden filter cabinet. I'm not criticizing, just curious........
    I enjoy your video's. thank you for doing them.

      They are just pre-filters and the edges are a bit problematic. That's where the actual filters get dirty the most.

    You should seal the edges on those home made filters, should give you much more life out of the bought filters.

    Hey marius ich plane einen dust collector zu bauen, muss ichda so einen zyklon bauen oder kann es auch mit einem runden abscheuder wie bei deinem dust extractor sein also dieser extractor für den hobel

      Geht beides. Meiner Erfahrung nach funktioniert ein großer Zyklon besser, dafür ist ein flacher Abscheider einfacher zu bauen und braucht nicht so viel Platz.
