    Broken Promises this song, this album has been pivotal to my finding my walk with Jesus. The song I associate most with this one, and the title track to this album, is Awaiting Your Reply. It is also a very powerful and meaningful song. This music ministers to me still after all these decades. So glad you found the them.

    Larry Norman left a successful (million selling record) secular career after giving his life to serve Christ and being baptised in the Holy Spirit in 1968 and pioneered that which was then Christian Rock but also later incorporated the whole Christian Contemporary Music scene - paving the way for Rez, Petra, Randy Stonehill, Daniel Amos, We The Kingdom, Lauren Daigle, 2nd Chapter of Acts (with Barry McGuire at times), Matthew Ward and others . Phil Keaggy (a renowned guitarist) also helped pioneer with Glass Harp and after

    There was only one Resurrection Band... usually you need to really get into the message of the music to understand it. They were speaking to street kids, inner city youth, etc. The message is very powerful, I would recommend “Live Bootleg “... 1st CD I bought, I think they were blues 1st, then Rock, then Metal

    My parents owned a Christian Bible/book store in the SW subs of Chicago when I was young, they sold music as well. I was not allowed to listen to mainstream rock or metal in the house but they let me listen to this and any other Christian rock bands. I stuck with these guys and a band Petra back then. Even seen them a few times at a place called the Odium in Villa Park, IL with a few older teens from Church. I really liked this and many other songs from this band back in the day. Glad you liked it and thanks for doing the reaction. Might throw a few others at you in the future. Thanks again.

      @M Davis That bookstore was more of a ministry for my parents than a source of income. It wasn't a well off community and the neighborhood teens would hang out or borrow money (on a tab) from them to play arcade games at the ice cream shop next door. Gave my parents an opportunity to witness to them; pretty sure every kid was given a Bible which my father would engrave it with their name in gold letters to make it special. We'd have locals with no family over at holidays. That went on for years after the store closed as they built some lifelong friendships in that community. I'm sure most of those bookstores had similar stories and had similar impacts on their communities.

    Wow does this ever take me back. Hadn't heard this since I was in lil league baseball (pre-teens) lol. My dad wasn't too sure about it till he listened to the words. Lol Great pick. They were ahead of thier time. Most Christians weren't ready for bands like this.. Reminds me a lil of Ted Neely now from Jesus Crist Superstar. Loved the music in that, wish I knew how to do links on this phone. Lol

    One of the best blues songs you’ll ever hear “ Run Where
    Roses Grow” Off of their
    “Silent “ Screams” album.

      If this group were secular ( thank God they were not), they would have been
      blockbuster big. Their playing, vocals and writing are second to none.
      I have seen them live several times and spoken with the members of the band, and can truly say that they are genuinely
      kind, down to earth , committed ministers of the cross.

    Colors was their first album with modern, first rate production... Even so, the first and still the best until Theocracy! For another, more representative example of Rez Band full bore, NYC from the Colors disk or Silence Screams from the Silence Screams disk. These guys were our Led Zeppelin, blues based ROCK with a message Zeppelin could only alude to (Nobody's Fault But Mine)!!!

      "Colours" (not sure why they spelled it that way) blew me away, each song was so incredibly good...musically, lyrically, production quality...it's always been my favorite Resurrection Band album. I really liked that I understood the meaning of each song. Later on, Rez sometimes became too artistic for my own good, and I'd be like "huh?" regarding some of the song's meanings. Plus, the music would vary quality wise. But Colours....not a "skip" song on the entire album!

    • @noehctuccmliw
      @noehctuccmliw 3 года назад

      @@eyerock36 Chicago being so close to Canada and being Rez Band's home probably had something to do with their way of spelling it as colours rather than colors. It's the Canadian variant. It was a French influence. Also, a lot of Glenn Kaiser's music style is based on southern blues so I imagine a bit of Cajun French influence may have played a roll as well.

    I think a great song you should do, if you haven't already and I just not know about it, is a song by Steve Taylor which I think in this day and age, the title of the song is very fitting. It is called "Whatever Happened To Sin"! For those that think certain music is a sin, first off, music is music, the words to it makes it bad or good, but play this for them...… "God Gave Rock And Roll To Ya" by Petra, another AWESOME Christian Rock Band!

    • @troyv8302
      @troyv8302 4 года назад

      I totally agree with you. Music is music, basically, a joyful noise. not everyone is into mellow stuff and if that was the prerequisite, I would not bother. Furthermore, God gave the musician his/her talent, would be a waste of God given talent if they didn't utilize it to its fullest.

    You are so correct with your end assessment!
    I am a Rez fan, and have been since 1980, and still listening. People have told me I shouldn't listen, or there's something wrong with the music. So, at one point I sat down and typed out the lyrics, and showed them to several people I knew. They loved them! Then I asked if they wanted to listen to the song. Of course they did! Until they heard the music... Then I was told to turn it off, and how ANGRY they were that I'd fooled them.
    Well, I'm still rockin', and still loving Jesus!
