Dude, Resurrection Band is the greatest Christian rock band of all time, and Military Man is one of the most iconic guitar riffs ever! Thanks for the vid!
ME! ME!! I know this song!!! I grew up listening to this song on the record and in concert. Heck, I'm still listening to Rez! This is one of my favorite of their songs. Along with The Chair, American Dream, Babylon, Broken Promises, Paint A Picture, Death of the Dying, Tears In The Rain, and a few others I'm probably forgetting. A great band, and you should do some more.
Huge Resurrection Band fan here! Glen has one of the best bluesy rock voices around!. And in my book they areone of the very few true Christian bands because they practice what they preached. Seen them several times live and chatted with Glen once at Cornerstone and was just such a down to earth guy.
I agree. They give it 100% I almost went to work for Jesus people But God needs me in Texas . Can't imagine what my life would be like with out bands like Petra, phil keagy, blood good, saint, Steve camp, Stryker, Baron Cross, and more. LASTLY King James album the fall is excellent
I started listening to Christian Rock in 1977, I first heard Rez in 78, favorite band ever since! I’ve seen them in concert more times than I can count, met every member of the band. They are the real deal, they’ve never been interested in fame or fortune. He cared way more about preaching the gospel than playing the music. Glenn’s wife Wendy had one of those voices that was really raw, it fit the 80s Rez techno rock phase. I believe they’re still living in the community on the southside of Chicago called Jesus people USA. It’s a form of a lifestyle that’s right out of the 60s and early 70s hippie days, without the sex and drugs.
Military Man was the first song of theirs that I heard after getting saved 39 years ago. DMZ is my favorite album of theirs. The power of the Risen Rock fills the album from beginning to end. May Elohim tangibly teach and touch each of you!
Man I grew up listening to Resurrection band, Rez Band Or whatever they wanna call them selves as a kid or rather a young teen, I was introduced to the very first album and been a lifelong follower since and I’m 56 and I still jam to all those great songs the godfathers of Christian rock music. I still on every album, every demo song they ever did, and have stored most other videos, DMZ in my opinion was one of their best progressive rock albums.
Resurrection Band later shortened their name to REZ Band, with all of the original members of the group; Glenn Kaiser, Windy Kaiser, Stu Heis, Roy Montroy and Johnny Herren (Wendy’s brother).
I cut my guitar playing teeth on Resurrection Band. Loved Glen's vocals and tried to emulate him. Military Man is the first song I learned by ear. Had the rhythm down. (Forget the lead.) Love the diversity of the group and they always seem to have a great direction. I was nodding in agreement about this being a fun song to play. Thanks for uploading. Peace!
IMO Rainbow's End is their best overall album. After that it it seemed more like they had albums with a few good tunes on it and the rest 'meh'. We won't even talk about Hostage
The only reason I am here is because you mentioned the song. I’m only 21 but Resurrection Band is my fav. I actually have this album and several of their others on vinyl.
We listened to Resurrection Band all the time when we lived in the Spirit of Life community in inner city Jacksonville Florida. Glenn Kaiser spoke at our church one Sunday.
I was and still am a Rez-Head. This was one of their most intense songs ever before Roy Montroy started writing most of the music. I love their ministry in Inner Chicago. They have a great outreach there and produced the best Christian magazine. Solid group of Jesus People. Thanks, I really enjoyed the video
I first heard Resurrection Band in 1980 when a friend of mine (thanks Don Sheats!) played the cassette in his van. I was hooked! I loved it! As has already been said, Glen and the members of the band were living out what they believed in a community called Jesus People USA in Uptown area of Chicago. I think i've seen them over a dozen times in concert and have a HUGE amount of respect for their lives and consequently derived a LOT of inspiration and encouragement from that.
Yes, I had all their albums up to this point. I was stationed in 29 Palms with the Marine Corp when I bought this album and Military Man was one of my favorites! I started listening to all their music and later albums just last year.
I saw the Resurrection Band play live at one of the local churches in Phoenix, AZ (in the 80's). Great concert-thanks, it brought back some wonderful memories.
I am a Christian because of Resurrection Band and Glenn Kaiser!!! They were the freaking best, and Military Man is one of my favorites from them. They started every show with this song for years. Top notch stuff!!!
Resurrection Band, grew up on them. Was actually at one of the concerts at the Odeum when they recorded the Live Bootleg album. This was not my favorite song either. I enjoyed the Awaiting Your Reply and Rainbows End albums more. Even liked Mommy Don't Love Daddy Anymore album better as well. I stopped listening to them when I started high school and started going down a different path. I have recently started listening to some of the stuff that came out later and was wowed by those albums as well. Rez Band will always hold a special place in my heart, good message with good music. Thanks for sharing.
@@GetSidewaysReacts For some reason Colors didn't do it for me. I stopped listening after Hostage and I really only liked Tears in the Rain off that one, the rest were to new wave like. In any event, glad you did the reaction to them, they were to good to be unknown by the masses. Thank you!
When this was first released on their DMZ album, I was just learning to teach myself songs. This was my favorite Rez Band tune. And the first of their songs that I taught myself the rythmn guitar part on. Been listening to them for over forty years now. Peace!
My 1st experience with Resurrection Band actually seeing them play live was in Albany NY, '82, '83 maybe? They were touring with "Steve Taylor & Some Band", the latter being a more 'New Wave/ Punk' sort of sound, and both of these bands would go on and earn 'ICON' status within the Christian Rock world. The place where they played, an old movie theater was packed, a standing-room-only kind of crowd, & my ears were ringing when I woke up in my dorm room the next morning. Military Man, (I believe) was one of the tunes featured on the 'Live Bootleg' album released in 1984 (?), which was the next time I saw them in my hometown of Pittsburgh, PA, with a much more mellow opening act, a gal named Tammy Trent. (Tremendous singer btw) Anyway, they did play 'Military Man' in Albany a year or 2 before its official release & and the crowd went absolutely crazy. My most vivid memory from the shows was of a small child on stage with the band (Rez), and I've since heard that one of the members had a kid who was Autistic, deaf, (some other things too, Idk what's what on that to this day?) I remember reading in some magazine article that 'feeling' the vibrations and the visuals, pyro, etc., was a therapeutic thing for the boy, & it was no gimmick or "strange" JPUSA 'ritual' in any way. What an amazing band! I have almost all of their stuff
I too grew up with Ressurection Band. The second time I saw them perform I'd volunteered to work as an usher. They did their sound check with this song. It was the first time I'd heard it
Followed this from a Resurrection Band FB page. I grew up listening and loving them, saw them several times in concert, interviewed Glenn once, and still spin their vinyl on occasion. Music to Raise the Dead!
I know this is a few years old. There is a very good live vid of this song on You Tube. Its Rez-Military Man live in consert. They spelled concert wrong. One of the first concerts I ever saw in the early eighties. They came out and yelled we are the Ressurection band, music to raise the dead and started litterly banging on their guitars with their fists. Awsome! I had the T-shirt with the hand of God and a lightning bolt.
LOL. Having some fun on the guitar why not? When I was 17 a group of friends and I traveled 8 hours in Canada from Grande Prairie Alberta to Calgary Alberta to see Resurrection band (By the way Rez Band and Resurrection Band are the same group) they were awesome!
I know the song and had the live Bootleg album back in the 80s. Resurrection Band had many albums. Great band and Glenn is certainly a gifted singer, musician, and preacher as well as his wife Wendy. They set the stage for rock and roll in Christian music. God radically saved Glenn and Wendy and delivered Glenn out of the drug scene. From what I remember reading about them, they have had a great ministry for the Lord ministering in Chicago to a lot of people. That song Shadows is something to hear and think about because it gets down to the very truth about what sin does to us and how Jesus rescues those who call upon Him. True saints of the Lord they are.
Rez! Yeah, not everything they did is a winner but if I added up all their winners from their vast catalog they’d come out on top in my world! Glenn’s voice is the best.
I have a signed cigar box guitar from Glenn Kaiser. Wendy's rap was very instrumental in my walk with God as I experienced something very similar. Great people of God and a great band.
Oh yeah. Ive maybe heard this track a couple times. _Silent Screams_ was my first Rez album, though. Live versions of "Where Roses Grow" is my favorite. I like the riff for "Altar of Pain" though. Dirty. Really got into blues around the same time Glenn went solo and caught him a couple times. Interesting show, half music, half conversation.
ruclips.net/video/LJG26mAhRi8/видео.html This is a link to the live version of Military Man from Resurrection Band's 20 Years Live concert. Best footage you will find. Check out the live version of Attention. It's really good. Resurrection Band (Rez Band) were considered the Godfathers of christian rock music. They had a hard rock and blues sound. Wendy Kaiser had a style somewhat like Grace Slick but more bite in her vocal style. They wrote about everything from teen pregnancy, suicide, drug use to apartied and politics. Needless to say, they were shunned for the most part by the christian music industry as controversial. No matter what, they stuck to their guns.
I actually had their album "Awaiting Your Reply" and that was a very good record. By the way I also own a 1983 Ibanez Roadstar strat that I bought new and still own. Only thing I ever did was upgrade pickups to Lindy Fralin's. Built with as much quality as my American Fender
Awaiting Your Reply is my fav album by them. But they have so many good albums. I bought my white Roadstar II in 1983 (new). The red one I got in mid-2000s.
MCA, my favorite Resurrection Band song is NYC from Colours. Can you do a video playing that one on guitar? The main riff. I can’t find any video of that song and I want to see how a (good) player plays it. Thx!
If you are into Christian rock music (or grew up around inner city Chicago), there is a better chance you have heard of the Resurrection (Rez) Band. Been into them since 1985's Between Heaven and Hell release. Glenn Kaiser and Stu Heiss were a huge influence when I first started playing guitar. So underrated, since the marketing for Christian music in the 1980's was just awful not to mention the backlash the organized church had against rock music, even if it had Christian lyrics. Listened to this and Stryper, since I couldn't relate to music such as the Imperials, Carman, and Sandi Patti. First saw them live at Cornerstone 1994 in Bushnell, IL. Real nice group to talk to personally. Also saw them with Whitecross opening up for them on the 1995 Lament Tour. Btw, for those that don't know, Kings X guitarist Ty Tabor produced the Lament album.
I’ve listened to all of them growing up. My dad used to bring all of them to Columbus for concerts. He had a record store as well. I have all the Resurrection Band albums. Up until ‘84. We’re doing Glass Harp soon, btw. What do you think of Barnabas?

Rediscovered Resurrection Band after a long absence and appreciate their music more now than I did in the 80s.
ONE OF MY FAVORITES FROM RESURRECTION BAND! I saw it played live many times by Resurrection Band.
Such a sick song. Had the record as a kid and still love it.

My top five bands that include Petra, Rez band,Stryper, Skillet, and Daniel band in no particular order.
Bloodgood and Believer too.
@ Bloodgood 👍 not familiar with Believer.
