Hello, this is Michael Drive (Lee), the singer for Barren Cross. I only heard this for the first time today and I just want to say thank you for your reaction to this song! I would be honored for you to do a reaction video to one of the songs I recorded this year, with the Gale Force album "Subhuman", with guitarist Tracy G (DIO). Here is a link to the website www.GaleForceBand.com. Thank you again! Enjoyed watching this!
Loved Barren Cross. I still have rock for the king on vinyl… Absolutely loved their sound and of course Mike’s maiden sounding vocal. I have seen them live and they were just awesome. Thanks for posting this.
Man, how in the world did I miss you doing a Barren Cross reaction? BC kicks butt! I absolutely loved this band back in the day... Still do! Rock for the King... Atomic Arena... State of Control... Rattle Your Cage... Barren Cross never put out a bad album - not a one! Song for song, State of Control is probably my favorite album overall, though (Out of Time, Inner War, Love at Full Volume, Bigotry Man, Stage of Intensity, Deadlock...). I enjoyed (re)listening to this great band with you here, Leigh. Thanks for sharing! (P.S. Shout - "It won't be long...!") -Kent
@@iridiumrockandmetalreviews2128 Me too! I had It Won't Be Long and In Your Face. Ken Tamplin and co. could shred and wail like nobody's business! -Kent
Listen to Barren Cross-Atomic Arena album and State of Control album...you’ll have a new favorite band all alongside Stryper and Shout. Also Tourniquet’s Stop The Bleeding album is a metal must!
Barren Cross was great they played at my church where I used to work at Calvary Chapel Downey in Southern California. Seen many Christian metal bands back in the 80s they used to call me metal Bob when I worked there. Ha! Here’s another band to check out they’re called Saint “too late for a living” they have a Judas Priest sound to them, pretty cool. Another band is Bloodgood their first album and second album were fantastic they also played at our church. A more modern band is Demon Hunter they’re good if you like that kind of metal I prefer the 80s and early 90s ruclips.net/p/RDusnNFO19zXw&playnext=1
Hope you dont mind but I shared this review with a couple of Christian metal Facebook groups ,I found it very interesting so I thought others would too . I’m a massive Stryper fan , heavy rock /metal fan and Christian metal fan . I have just discovered your Facebook reviews and I am slowly working my way through them ...Stryper first of course 👍🏴
Had an album of theirs years ago. Not heard this in ages! I remember the comparisons to Bruce Dickinson back in the day but listening now actually reminds me more of the Edguy vocalist who obviously wasn't around back then. Great 80's sound, love it!
You’re in a blessed position to be hearing Christian quality metal for the first time...so much to choose from...a highly overlooked, under appreciated genre. Have fun and get ready to have your metal ears melted. Check out the album Human Sacrifice by Vengeance. Hard to single out songs on these Christian albums because, like Stryper, the albums as a whole are spot on! Enjoy.
Thanks for the reaction man, I did a double take when I first heard them on a Stryper playlist. I personally find Christian metal to be hiding alot of great music. And speaking of great music, have you ever heard of Demon Hunter? They're another Christian metal band formed in 2000, and I found their sound quite interesting, especially on slower songs like the haunting almost ballad I Will Fail You, anyway thanks again for giving Barren Cross a look.
Barren Cross is one of the greatest bands in history, that no one has ever heard. Michael Lee Drive sounds similar too Bruce Dickenson, with better range and defined articulation. They have four studio albums, and one live album. They don't like being called "Christian band" They're people who play contemporary rock music, who happened to be believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, just like Nicko Mcbrain, Tommy Aldridge, Alice Cooper ect. ect. All their albums are excellent. "Rattle your Cage" is their best. Check out Holy Soldier, Barnabas, Darrel Mansfield album "Revelation" with Paul Gilbert on guitar. Jerusalem(Sweden) Mastedon with John Elfante on vocals, Dave Amato on guitar. "Its a jungle out there" "Lofcaudio" Mastedon 3. They had the name first. John Elfante sang on two Kansas albums. Vinyl Confessions and Drastic Measures. Kerry Livgren had many releases his solo band was called AD. The late Ken Hensley was on fire for Christ. His solo band was called "Live fire" You can hear Hensley's influence on the classic Uriah Heep albums. Look at yourself, Sweet Freedom. Demons and Wizards is one of the Godliest records of all time. The original Petra albums "More power to ya" "Beat the System", "Not of this world" You can check out Girder Music for any of the Rock/ Metal music by Christian people. Listen to the two WASP releases "Babylon" and "Golgotha" both masterpieces. Rex Carroll and Whitecross just released a three song mini CD first recording in 20 years. Check out "Seed of Change" by Kerry Livgren. Dio sang two songs on the record.
I don't think this is even BC's best song. As a "rebellious" youth grounding up in the 1980's on band that really made an impact was Sacred Warrior. The track _Children of the Light_ is a standout. Also _Blacksnake_ from Bloodgood is a barn burner as wel
Great video. I got into a Barren Cross in 1987 being a diehard Maiden fan. My guitarists mother who was a Christian wanted us to stop listening to slayer, king diamond, maiden etc. His mother turned us onto Barren Cross. I became a huge fan. I’m also a Christian today because of their music and influences in my life. Check out a this Christian metal band called “Disciple” the song is called “Scars Remain”.
The problem i had with all these Christian bands back then, is they tried to hard to copy secular bands, often to the point of mimic, especially singers. Stryper has always had their own sound. Saint was another band that was good but you could tell In their early days in the 80's, they were trying to sound like Judas Priest, especially the singer. They were one of the better copy cat bands. Time's End is an album I think you'd like.

@@iridiumrockandmetalreviews2128 Nice of you to say. Thank you!
@@MichaelDrive I love your old and new music Michael!!
One of my all-time favorite bands!! Mike Lee is amazing!
Loved Barren Cross. I still have rock for the king on vinyl… Absolutely loved their sound and of course Mike’s maiden sounding vocal. I have seen them live and they were just awesome. Thanks for posting this.
Another great band that I still wish was making music!!! Just good heavy rock!!!
Messiah Prophet - "Master Of The Metal" & "Battle Cry" Bloodgood - "Lamb Of God" (featuring none other than Sir Oz Fox)
You really need to hear the song two thousand years by barren cross. Off the state of control album. You'll love it
Yes! Also, Barren Cross’ Rock for the King’s, “Dying Day”. Please, also consider Haven… their song “Witching Hour”
I was in the 10th grade when the video/ song from this album; "Atomic Arena", was released.

So many better songs by Barren Cross. Try king of kings, the living dead, and close to the edge. Good on ya for Shout and Ken Tamplin.
Living Dead is epic!
Listen to "Heavens Gate " a german Christian band !
