I'm an atheist, but I've been a Red fan for almost 15 years, and I appreciate y'alls energy and deep appreciation of the music. The lyrical interpretation was interesting to listen to, felt applicable to a wide range of beliefs. Well done.
Red regularly talks about humans and their dual nature -- the flesh vs. the divine nature. It may be the flesh (or old man) that keeps coming back from the grave. "Death of Me" and "Fight Inside" have similar themes as do many other songs of theirs.
I loved this react and analysis!! This is probably my favorite song off the new album and the way you related it to sin really made me see it in a whole new way and I really feel like I can relate to it a lot more now!! So I wanted to say thank you for this you guys rock!!
Amazing song. Great band. I took it to mean when you’re saved by grace and all your past is wiped away that even when your past comes back to you from the accuser, satan, Christ reminds that he’s paid that for you. Let him cauterize the wounds and heal them and move on.
Red is an amazing band and to me their lyrics are very personal and they write about struggles we have as Christians and how it is to be the light in a dark world, a lot of it is about spiritual warfare, a few songs that I would consider worship songs, they have it all and their faith is strong
I'd love to see a reaction of any song from "Of Beauty and Rage" by Red, specifically "Darkest Part" or "The Ever". It's also an amazing album in general.
Another great reaction as always! I would love to see more Red reactions in the future. I would list songs, but literally anything by them would be worth reacting to in my opinion (especially this new album or of Beauty and Rage). Love you guys, thanks for being a light, and not being ashamed of the Gospel!
Thank you for reacting to my favorite band! I would love for you to react to a few more songs on your channel before you listen to the whole album on your own. But nevertheless I was blessed with this interpretation of the song and will continue to watch all your videos
Thanks for checking out Red! This new album is full of bangers, though, their albums "Of Beauty and Rage" and "Innocence and Instinct" are my favorites. I'd love to see you visit those albums.
Pastor Rob you guys should react to Float next! I mean, every song from the new album is good, but I think Float is the most heaviest song in the album Declaration. God bless you guys!
Red has been one of my favorite bands since they first came out!!! Just got this new album and love it. So proud of my fellow Tennesseans!!! Thank you so much for this review. God Bless. 💔
Rob, I love your stank face. Red has always, lyrically, been vague with their message, but I think the amazing thing with them is you can feel what their message is about. Music, like any kind of art, doesn't have to be explicit in its lyrics, you have to be able to feel it. That way, the audience is able to put themselves into what the song is describing and thus be affected in some way by it. That's just how art is. Keep up the goodwork! Also, if you can, please react to As Cities Burn- The Widow (live at Cornerstone 2007). Look into the story behind it before watching it though. There's some misinformation about it unfortunately, which makes it worse because its a very deeply personal song for the lead vocalist.
Ok....I did love your post.... But I must argue with you.....Red is only vague to you... If the Holy Spirit, has not yet given you proper discernment.......I am big on meaning and music....I look up o lot of research on what artists are thinking at the time, writing their music......I have never once looked up a Red meaning....I think they are the most perfectly clear, Christian metal band that there is...... Y'all prolly talk to Jesus..... Start speak to Holy Spirit..... Ask him for discernment in Jesus name..... Just remember when speaking with Holly Spirit ..... You do not know the definition of humility..... Holy Spirit IS .... The definition of humility.... Never praise Him... Thank Him ... Fine, lovely.... But He.... Where glory is concerned... Only is with us, to edify That precious Jesus.... That everyone should know
I've been listening to Red for several years and have had some concern that they were shying away from their faith in an effort to be more mainstream, especially with their last album, Gone. They've never been overtly spiritual in their music, although I see a lot of good symbolism in their earlier projects, but I felt they've been even less straightforward with their most recent music. I'm somewhat encouraged by this song, though. I took the words "meet the flame" to be a reference to the Holy Spirit, who is often associated with fire, and that His cauterizing of old sin wounds protects from reinfection. I'm cautiously optimistic to hear more of Declaration. I just realized, Declaration: maybe it's about taking a more solid stance on their faith. I guess we'll see (or hear, as the case may be).
@@ericianshippers2676 Thanks for the reply. I'm glad to hear they are still faithful; I guess I'm at a point in my life, or in my faith, maybe, where I'm looking for "blatant" Christianity, if that makes sense. I understand that not everyone is bold about their faith -- honestly, I'm not a lot of times due to fear of rejection -- but I suppose it would be accurate to say that I hold public figures to a higher standard. I imagine that's somewhat unrealistic. I find it very encouraging, though, when someone who can literally speak into the lives of millions is willing to take a stand for Christ, whether it's actors refusing to do certain things for parts, or musicians echoing the Word of God in their lyrics.
They didn't say this directly, but I believe this is one of the complications they had with their label and one of the reasons why they left them. Declaration is a great step in showing how they've grown not only as a band but as Christians.
I also thought that about the line “meet the flame.” There also seemed to be a lot of back and forth between Jesus and the protagonist, especially with references to “my sacrifice” and “hide in the wound.” Much of the song also called to mind the “testing by fire” from 1st Peter 1:6-9.
RED is my favorite band of all time and this song is my favorite on the new album. I LOVED your reactions as you listened. Michael's vocal range in this song is spot on and I loved watching you listen. Applying Scripture to music is fantastic. Thank you for this video! I hope you do more RED songs in the future.
Red has some of my favorite music ever. Cauterize is one of them. I always see it is sin creeping back in and sometimes the drastic measures you take to cauterize it. The "meet flame and let it inside" to me speaks to allowing the Spirit to fill in the place where sin is trying to get a foothold. Great work guys.
Great reaction guys this is the most dynamic song on the album. Declaration is shaping up to be one of Reds heaviest offerings. Definitely need to check out some Disciple. I would recommend any of these tracks off their new record: Chemical Wisdom, Reanimate, or Panic Room.
🌟Amen to that... 8months later and we’re (U.K.) going into 3rd Lockdown!! But there’s hope on the horizon in both vaccine AND more importantly, Christ 🌟
This band really started me in the world of Rock and Metal music . I remember in 2006 listening to breathe and really staring to love and appreciate rock music 🤘🤘. This new song really rocks and you guys too !! Keep this amazing work to react to rock and metal music and at the same time talk about God . Good stuff 🤘🙏👏🏻
Thank you so much for the explanation of forgiveness and how it works. It's good to know that forgiveness and reconciliation are not one and the same. Sometimes it's ok to not allow toxic people into your life again (to cauterize). God bless your ministry.
i suggest the song "Go Be the Voice" by Beartooth. whether you react to it or not, i think it's worth listening to :) (also, anything off Norma Jean's new album. i've tweeted back-and-forth with their vocalist about some of the lyrics, and they're much deeper than i had imagined. great album!)
I think when he mentions the buried coming crawling back to you is referring to things that you thought were dead (addictions, sin, etc.) appear back in your life even though you thought it was behind you and would never be an issue again.
I would be interested in your thoughts on Dear Agony by Breaking Benjamin, specifically the Aurora Version of it which features Lindsey Sturm (former lead singer of Flyleaf)
I have seen many many non secular shows... Many of them I wouldn't tell you what I have seen... In your comments.... But the craziest was Manson in 97 Spfd MO.....I didn't really know until then that those things could be done at concerts.... Many years later.... You did a good job reacting to this song from RED. I take the person interpretation myself, but that's just my thought. I like what you said about both interpretations. We need to not let sin grow in our lives. I also like what you said about our need, yes, to forgive others but realize when we biblically need to cut off toxic relationships.
I wasn't expecting that either. I was surprised. Quite good. Hope you are all doing well. And, you know, this is probably the first time I've heard a pastor not preach the "forgive AND forget" idea to the letter. It's so refreshing to hear a man of Christ say that it's OK to keep past transgressions in mind, rather than attempting to purge it from your memory. It's like you're taking the stuff I've heard for years and translating in a way that doesn't disgust me. Seems like, unlike who I heard it from, you're not simply regurgitating what your predecessors told you: prejudice, discrimination, stereotyping, racism, classism, and similarly hateful concepts are what I've experienced from some claiming to be men or women of Christ. And, you're actually TRYING to connect with real people. Thanks for what you do! In addition, it looks like your www.fallenbynature.com web domain isn't working as intended. You ought to have whoever deals with that (yourself or otherwise) look at it.
bite the bullet, also ther's the early days of muzzle loaded guns namely muskets, where they would bite the bullet and tear it away to dump the propellant powder into the barrel, then use the paper or cloth cartridge as wadding to get the ball or bullet tight into the bore with the ram rod.
I've heard of Red, but I've listened to only a few of their songs, and I listened to them a few years ago at that, so I kind of forgot about how their song. The one song I'm actually familiar with of theirs is their Duran Duran cover, "Ordinary World. " You should check that one out too. This reaction video was really good. It was a very good analysis of this song. You really should also do a review of Paradise Lost's "Fear of Impending Hell." They're not particularly a Christian band, but that song actually speaks of some very profound truths of unsaved people's fear of impending Hell at death.
I feel like it can be reference d to the holy Spirit (that flame inside of all of us) and the spirit helps guide us it also protects us from sin even as you said possibly things from our past. Sin wounds us in many ways and the spirit guides through it and itself can help fix or cauterize the wounds and the infection or even reinfection as some sins try to come back like a virus. I hope this made sense and if I could recommend another video it would be demon Hunter- the negative
You absolutely MUST react to the entirety of Red’s 2015 album Of Beauty and Rage. If you haven’t listened to them seriously since 2006, and you enjoyed this song so much, OBAR is seriously one of the most emotional musical journeys you can take. I’d love to see an analysis of the album.
React to Another way to die by Disturbed... in my opinion this relates a bit to what’s been going on in the world with the virus on how Mother Earth is “punishing” us
I am a man of faith (Catholic) & I do not preach about my religion but I do love christian music in a way where it inspires me to be a better person and not signal to Jesus, God, etc. To point out I believe in everyone that interprets their religion as love and not extremest as there far too many extremest in this world that cause harm to others.
I would like to get your perspective on this song. I just listened to it and I get the impression there's guys don't love Jesus and for whatever reason they seem to have a bit of animosity towards God!
nicholas p Motionless in White has no love for religion, especially Christianity. Watch the video and listen to the lyrics of Immaculate Misconception. That will tell you all you need to know
Over the last couple years, listening to them more, Red has become one of my favorite rock bands, probably top 10. Their music is nothing special. There are a hundred other bands and probably more that sound just like them, but Mike Barnes’s voice stands apart. I can’t say he’s the *only* singer that sounds like he does, but he’s the only one that I’m familiar with. His tonal quality is unique and rare. And I do also enjoy their music, even if it’s not necessarily that unique in style.
This album is possibly their heaviest album to date. Not only is it instrumentally heavy, but the emotions are heavy as well just like in End Of Silence. It's beautiful.
Thanks for the video! Love seeing you both really into it! I know there’s a ton of recommendations, but I’d like to request checking out BEING AS AN OCEAN. They aren’t an explicitly Christian band, but talk about Christian themes and even theology. Personally, I’d like you to check out “IF THEYRE NOT COUNTED, COUNT ME OUT” and talk about theology of Heaven and Salvation. It’s something I struggle with personally. Or DEATH’S GREAT BLACK WING SCRAPES THE AIR. Banger of a track and reminds me of problems of evil, liberation theology, and calls us to reflect on our tainted human nature. Another important and beautiful song for me (no need to react, just offering a new song) is THE SEAS ALWAYS SEEMS TO PUT ME AT EASE. Explores nature as part of God’s Revelation and the comfort in that.
Dream Theater have a song influenced by Red, Build Me Up, Break Me Down, check it out. Also: Dream Theater - Honor Thy Father Dream Theater - In the Name of God Dream Theater - Lines in the Sand Dream Theater - Sacrificed Sons Dream Theater - The Spirit Carries On
Check out “God Went North” by Nothing More! It’s a song from the perspective of an atheist at his Christian mother’s death bed. Emotionally heavy stuff. Stay safe!
Michael, the singer, has been getting better with every new album release.
i see that SP profile pic (*eyes emoji*). that logo is on the shirt i'm wearing right now XD
honestly i feel like their old stuff hits harder than their new music, declaration is still really good though
I think they peaked with of Beauty and Rage, but this was a great album
The man’s voice is incredible... lovely guy too 🌟
Indeed.... His voice and passion has grown
Red was saying on social media that *Declaration* was going to be their heaviest album yet.... and they didn't lie :D
Bringing the FIRE!! 🔥🔥🔥
I recommend listening to their album Of Beauty and Rage, it's my personal favorite album of theirs.
IMPOSTOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRR
That was probably their best top to bottom album minus Innocence and Instinct.
@@lonerunner89 I agree
This was the album that turned me into a metal head

"Darkest Part" by Red is an amazing song. My favorite by them. Got to see them at Winter Jam several years ago. Great live performance.
i have seen this band live as well,
Of Beauty and Rage is by far my favorite Red album, and they are amazing live.

I second this. The WHOLE album 🤘
React to Another way to die by Disturbed... in my opinion this relates a bit to what’s been going on in the world with the virus on how Mother Earth is “punishing” us
Living Sacrifice - Bloodwork!!!!!!
Can you review....Motionless In White-"Thoughts & Prayers" Thanks.
That will tell you all you need to know
@@designateddriveranddragons8845 they don't like religion but don't hate people that are religious. The singer says this like every other minute.
Michael Squires I never said they had anything against religious people. They just reject religious ideals
Please react to Living Sacrifice bloodwork from The Hammering Process

Hey there! I have a good one: 'Heaven is Empty' by Aldous Harding!
Finally you guys reacted to Red!!
This was a great song.
Great band!
Great song!
Dream Theater have a song influenced by Red, Build Me Up, Break Me Down, check it out. Also:
Dream Theater - Honor Thy Father
Dream Theater - In the Name of God
Dream Theater - Lines in the Sand
Dream Theater - Sacrificed Sons
Dream Theater - The Spirit Carries On
Please react to “Thoughts and prayers” by motionless in white! Would love you know your opinion on it!
Pastor Rob that shirt is legit! Where did you get it and can you Review Me Without You - Red Cow next?
Please listen to Oh, Sleeper
Check out “God Went North” by Nothing More! It’s a song from the perspective of an atheist at his Christian mother’s death bed. Emotionally heavy stuff.
Stay safe!
I like your T-shirt, Rob! Where can I get it? Greetings from Switzerland. 🇨🇭Be blessed!
