Videos like this are the missing piece in this "Christian Metalcore" genre. A lot of people just listen for the sound of metalcore but miss the lyrics. Thank you guys for shedding light on the deeper meaning. God bless, prayers for your wife in her battle with cancer.
That's what's so wonderful about this sub-genre tho. You don't have to take the lyrics in a religious way, you can take them however you want, depending on your beliefs!
There's only maybe 2 members of the band that are christians. They don't label themselves as a christian band or christian metalcore either as they've mentioned in interviews. 🤷♂️ They may have the odd lyric here and there at times but that's about it.
@@mwboost nah, Matt, Jake and Brent are 100% religious christians and I wouldn't be surprised if the others are too; coming from amish country and all that. Also, just because they don't want to label themselves as a christian band (cause that's not really a genre), they still have loads of influences drawn from their beliefs. They simply like to convey positivety and love to everybody who's listening, regardless of beliefs or religion
@@bumpsy Yeah definitely an influence. As they've mentioned in an interview though they're not all christians. Eh.. Either way still good tunes no matter how you take in their lyrics/songs.
They have spoken word parts in a few songs of theirs. Meridian, Spirit Breaker, Salt & Light, and Beauty in Tragedy. I may be missing some, but I think that's it. All incredible songs!
Spirit Breaker, Salt & Light and Beauty in Tragedy are probably my three all-time favorite songs by August Burns Red. I've listened to them all countless times but still get goosebumps every time, it pierces my soul
i didnt know about your wife and mom battling cancer, just want to send you all my love and good intentions and i will have a prayer for you guys, you are genuine good people and this is needed in this world, thank you for wath you do .
I needed this video and song. These last few months, but especially this last week I am going through a rough break up with an emotionally abusive person amongst many other things and I have just felt so depressed and worthless. Thanks guys for making me feel a little better right now, wish I could attend your church!
Jason LovesABR ah it’s my RUclips buddy!😂😂 Dude this album is killer! I was never really a fan of ABR before but I certainly am now!!! I can’t stop listening to Lighthouse and Bloodletter hahaha. What’s you’re fav song off the record so far?
I’m not trying to sound like a broken record but I’d love to see you react to some Oh, Sleeper. I’m just gonna keep putting that here till it happens. Fissure is an amazing song
Something I forgot to mention yesterday, a recommendation of Anberlin's song *Fin which is about a crisis of faith the lead singer, Steven Christian, had as a child and as he put it "The truth is if you are looking for God in Christians prepared to be disappointed; the truth is we humans are all hypocrites, ALL OF US. Luckily I found Christ, in spite of these and other stories that propelled me in the opposite direction." It's an incredibly deep song that it would be cool to see your take on.
Love this song Jake spoken word in the middle of the song!!🙌🙌 The lyrics everyone in this band is amazing this album is top notch!! Been a huge ABR fan since 2004 my church loves them!!🤘🤘
This song is exactly the message that needs to be spread...we cannot defeat hate with hate it can only be conquered with love..the division is killing our society..hate +hate= chaos..we serve a lord a lord of order..without order theres chaos
That last bit at the end about salvation being the source of works and not the opposite is why I keep listening to this channel. I greatly appreciate Biblical truths being discussed alongside this music. Stay at it!
This song got me to tears, and that’s been some time ago. A beautiful song with such a truthful message! Great analysis and it’s fun to see you guys enjoying the song as well :)
So stumbled onto your channel a while back I believe it was you reacting to Judas by a Perfect Circle. As someone who is not religious in any way, I honestly don’t really believe in anything. But I digress. I love your videos. I have my own interpretation of a song, and then hearing how you experience it is something really awesome. I enjoy the fact that being so polar opposite in views I can really appreciate and respect your opinion. I may not always agree with you, but I really respect your words. It’s also really nice to see a pastor like yourself who is so open minded and kind. Kindness is free sprinkle that stuff everywhere. Thank you for making these videos. I look forward to see what your bring in the next one!
The new ABR album is so, so good! If I could make a request for a future reaction it’d be: Converge - A Single Tear I think the message in that song would really speak to you
they have always done spoken word , check out Spirit Breaker, Beauty in Tragedy, and other songs from Rescue and Restore as for clean singing they did it on the previous album,Phantom Anthem, but it was less ovious, i don't think it was in a chrous, but anyway Generations and Lifeline had some clean singing
Yeah, this is definitely the best cleans I've heard Jake do. They could use this sparingly but incorporate it in different ways to add another layer of diversity into their sound as they have with this song.
I met ABR when I saw them live. Really cool guys and one of my favorite bands. The fact that they used cleans in this song is incredibly different yet amazing.
Wow, I got here early. Mentioned this on your video yesterday but again, I love your videos and using music to give important biblical perspective. Much needed in this day and age.
Awesome to see you reviewing some music I like. Check out anything For Today has put out. Seraphim is a great video. Saul of tarsus, Isaiah the willing, fearless, crown of thorns, The call. Nothing like rocking out while praising the Lord and Savior of the earth Jesus Christ. For today puts so much praise in their music.
Should do Ties that Bind. Best song on the album imo. Dismembered memories, The Narrative and Three Fountains are also standount songs. Hard to pick out songs in general since the entire album is jawdropping.
Another great video guys, and ABR has been my favorite band for years. I'd really love to hear your thoughts on Beauty in Tragedy. That song has helped me through a lot and I'd hope it could help you through this difficult time with your wife. Hoping she makes a full recovery!
Just watched this video and the video on cauterize by red and instantly had to get both songs. So good. I love that your taking a genre that most think of as evil and demonic simple by the sounds and showing that it is some of the most thoughtful and meaningful music there is and that alot of it holds great christan values unlike alot of the mainstream music these days.
Gone with the Wind was written by Tom himself while he was still alive, so it's not really a song about him. The whole album however, is basically about him dealing with his disease and the prospect of dying though, not just Gone with the Wind (I think the final track, Memento Mori, is the deepest and most emotional song on the album in that respect).
I'm Brazilian and I love your videos. And that tshirt is amazing, where can i buy that? Continue with your videos, the biblical analysis in the end is the best part.
I don't remember if I've requested this one before, but check out "House of Lies" by Convictions. It's a song I hold close as I personally struggle with the problems it talks about, as well as other people here I'm sure. Still baffled at how abr keeps getting better though. I don't remember jake ever doing cleans in the past, but maybe i'm forgetting something.
Just discovered you for myself, saw the shirt you're wearing with the 5 Solas, checked your website, saw that you have a link to the 1689 LBC..... you got yourself a subscriber before I ever even watched the video.
Great reaction as usual! I would really love to see your reaction to Lamb of God - Memento Mori and if there's any biblical connections. Keep it up guys!!!
It's great that you two can really have this kind of experience over a song. That's something special. And I like the point of works being the *proof* , of sorts, of potential change. It's a nice way to put that. Also: have you had any trouble getting healthcare recently? I know it can be tough in a lot of places, so I hope you're not struggling to get doctors to help.
I purchased an ABR CD several years ago, and somewhat enjoyed it (I'm not a fan of the spoken word stuff, but that's just personal preference, obviously), and never really listened to anything else by them. I don't know why Jake doesn't do more clean vocals; he has a great, albeit unique, voice. Very raw. I love it. Thanks for sharing this; now I'm going to have to check out the rest of their album. Your family, your wife especially, are still in my prayers; I think often of you.
