I was 18 when I deployed and had this happen. I was 23 when I met Garrett and got to share my story. Instead of seeking counseling, I was afraid to admit that I had taken a life. I talked to Garrett as a mentor and friend, but he asked if he could write about my struggles because he felt it would reach people. If not for Garrett, I would still struggle to this day. I'm not proud of my actions overseas, but I'm glad I could assist those that are hurting with the same guilt and pain.

When you mention the “crimson tower”, I makes me think of when someone asks a vet how many people they have killed. That question sickens me. How about asking them how many people they have saved or simply thanking them for putting themselves where most men and women wouldn’t even dare to go.

Panic room is like the beginning of apocalypse now. It's amazing and terrifying that Sheen was drunk and had a real mental breakdown on set. This and silent planet's song are probably the most PTSD like feelings and emotions you will experience through modern media. Fascinating and terrifying
I totally feel you on the pain you mentioned. I don't know how people can get through news like that (Concerning your wife's cancer) without God. It helped me too. It was what I needed most when I myself lost my mother to liver cancer back in 2013. So thankful that this life isn't the end for us, stay strong!

My father was in the Air Force for around 20 years and was deployed to active combat zones every other year, I see him still struggle sometimes with things he’s seen as well as being away from his loved ones. I have such immense respect for him and this whole video kinda reminded of that service and what he’s sacrificed. Was nice to see y’all go in depth into the things that people don’t talk about regarding servicemen and going to war as far as ptsd goes.
Silent Planet is phenomenal, but I tend to avoid looking up what the lyrics mean because Garrett's poetry has a kind of magic to it when left ambiguous.

I, myself was in a line platoon in OEF 6. I cleared active duty in 2007 but just last year was diagnosed with PTSD, I have been dealing with this shit for over a decade and never knew what was wrong with me.. this song gives me goosebumps and damn near makes me cry every time I hear it. If there are any veterans or anyone that suffers from PTSD please do yourself a favor and do you friends/family a bigger favor and get help before it inevitably eats you alive. Heavy, heavy stuff. That would make so much sense given the content of the album this comes from - PTSD, Anorexia, etc.
