Found the fallow up video I will definitely have to check that. May be my problem. Thanks for making the video.

Did you remove the emulation tubes and the pilot jets? That should get her idling properly.

How did it run after you replaced those boots. Is there another video. I also have an 81 GS850G that I just got back from having carb work done because it was leaking. Taking off from a stop just off idle it feels like there is a dead spot in the throttle and I sometimes kill it because of that. It did this before the carb work was done I assumed that would fix this problem. But seeing what you found here that may be my problem to.

i have a 1979 GS850 Suzuki. I put in carb kits, i took out tubes and jets cleaned them up, replaced orings, changed needles and seats, set float heights to 22.4 mm and i was told to seat air and fuel mixture screws then back them off 2 turns, The bike is hard to start and will only start up and idle if the choke is on. when i try to throttle up with choke on it dies out and will not start with choke off. I know the petcock is not working properly. when starting and the petcock is in on position and the vacum is working does the fuel line suppose to be full at all times and sets there till you start it up then the vacum starts fuel flowing again? or is there air in the line also?
