Thanks for putting up this video! I recently got a GS850 and I found out that all the rubber-parts are cooked because of ethanol. It looks like I am rebuilding.
No pesky expensive diaphragms on the carbs and a kickstart, maybe I should have got a gs850g instead of a gs1000g. The problem with these Suzuki's is the stupid earth point which is on a rubber mounted battery box bolt, you find out about it when your harness earth cable starts burning.
I'm putting a GS850 back together I got in boxes. I have everything figured out except where the vacuum line from the fuel valve connects to the intake at. I watched all your videos but didn't see anything. Would you happen to remember? I looked all over and didn't see anything.
I just bought a 1979 GS450 and the last owner said that it hasn't started in around 5 years. He told me he thinks it might need a new CARBURETOR but he's not sure.So far awathe only thing that it needs is that and a full fluid flush.Any suggestions on how I could go about this?
for a bike like this, the oil isn't such a big deal just change the filter every 5k or so and change the oil as well. as long as you have one, the brand of filter shouldn't be too important.
Thanks for the heads up. Are those parts hard to find? Considering it's a pretty old bike. I'm hoping to keep it for a while and maybe do some cafe style mods. It'll take time but lets see.
I know this is an old video, but if someone could help me that would be great. Could someone please tell me how to replace the coolant and where the actual reservoir is
I recently picked up an 80 gs850 as well. The guy who sold it to me said it was solid but the day after I rode it home, it wouldn't start. I think the battery is gone so now I shall be slowly stripping it and doing one thing at a time. Do you notice any starter issues? Reg Rectifier etc?
this is awesome. picking up my 82 GS850G on saturday. thanks for making the video!
Did you ever go get it ...then get it running...???

Thanks so much dude. This helps me out a lot!!!
It is an easy motor to work on.
Try that with the GSX 1100G and you will be there for hours.
The carbs are a nightmare to get back on.
Thank you i just got 1981 suzuki gs g
Thx a lot!! I'm going to do this soon. Helpful info :-)

Where is the idle adjusting screw?
wow thanks for this vid!
i think i just use whatever k+n or fram on they have at the store.
the re circulation tube on the tank does it really need to be connected or can you leave it disconnected?
I know its an old video but i am currently trying to take the carb out of my 82 gs850 but i cant figure out how to get the throtte cables loose
Disconnect the cable at the carb linkage
Is there a way to shut off the Petcock when removing the tank so it doesn’t leak gas?
Shut off the petcock so it doesn't leak gas.
Correct me if I’m wrong but there is no shutoff only on, prime, and reserve.
When the bike isn't running, the diaphragm in the petcock turns ON off.
@@evanparker - Thank you for answering everybody's questions! I just now picked up a, '80, GS850

XtremeGaming123 It's an air cooled bike, there is no coolant other than your oil.

Let's see how much fun you would have if you had a airbox like my 79gs550 lol
