.696 save %, GAA was 7.41
I saw that too I’m a goalie
China League has gotten their newest player
It’s crazy how people forget that he was a top 5 goalie last year, he’s just having a down year
Yeah, I was like 0.696 GAA is insanely good lol
@@stu5865not the time of year too suck
Georgiev has just guaranteed himself a one way ticket out of the Avs starting goalie job. What a fall from grace.
Amen.
He never had grace. Why the Avs keep having faith in him years later. He was never more than a backup and the Avs had their chances to move on. Whether they win the Cup with Georgiev or not its time to move on from him this offseason.
'years later' this was only his second year with the team. a little bit dramatic there
Well, I'd argue that it depends on if Annunen has recovered or not. If he hasn't, Georgiev will 100 % start the next one, if he has, there's still a good chance Georgiev starts, but I think Annunen will finish this series.
@Siksdev Yea I agree that he will most likely start the next game, but I don't have faith in him finishing the series. I think he will fumble at least one more game causing Annunen to take the starting position. Also agreed that Avs ain't winning the cup, but they very well could make it to the second round, maybe even third if stars align correctly.
Its such a shame that Francouz retired due to health issues because even if he wasn’t starter caliber, he was perfect 2nd goalie for situations like this.
When the Avs won the Stanley Cup in '22, didn't Francouz appear in like 7 games in the play-offs and manage to win all of them?
I mean, he was great!
@@subraxashe was a huge part of the reason that they were able to sweep the oilers
@@subraxas Yea, even with one shutout! Pitty he had to retire :(
Frankie would have given up 3 goals max in this game. Hell, I can’t even imagine Arvid Holm (who hasn’t played a single NHL game) could have been worse. He probably only gives up 4 or 5 max
@@RK-fh4bp The Avs seemed totally unprepared for who would back up Georgiev once Francouz got hurt. And their only remedy, it seemed, was to just play Georgiev into the ground. Thus, he actually started more games than Hellebuyck this season. And none of their other 3 goalies have more than 12 starts and are thus pretty much unproven. And not adding a proven back-up at the deadline was a big miss for the Avs.
As an Avs fan I’m trying to figure out how the hell he made the all star game.
Wins and because he plays for the avs.
You guys put 6 goals up to! The other goalie didn’t play great either. It’s only one game and it wasn’t even a home game. I think he will snap back and honestly I can see the avs winning it all. Be patient my friend it’s a long series
Bcuz yall suck the head of leagues cranks hard and act like yall are too good.Ya chug serious dill and gulp all of it and it's sick. The league got sick of yaz blasting them for not letting ya win and since they h8 DA BOLTS,they practically gave it to ya,and you took it,loved it and enjoyed it.Eat S#it & LIVE CRAPALNCHE FAN,this is great!
@@garrettstraffon608
Fourgiev has been well below league average all season. He got wins because he a) benefitted from a very potent Avs lineup, and b) played a lot of games.
@@garrettstraffon608 You start to forget Aebischer
I had to step away from the game for a minute or two, at which time the Jets were leading 2-1, and upon returning, the announcer proclaims "Scheifele scores, to tie things up!", which had me thinking that I had transitioned over to an alternate universe.
Suddenly, the Leafs ain't looking so embarrassing. 😂🤣
😂
😂🤣
I hate when people say this but *sigh rent free😖
Well they lost the first game anyways so all good ❤❤
I’m not an Avalanche fan, but at least they scored more than 1 goal bro
He is a backup at best
What I have been saying😂
As a Rangers Fan: He always sucked when Igor got a few starts in a row and he had to sit a week or two, he always needed a few games to get solid. Worked best as a Tandem Goalie, when Igor wasn't fully Igor yet.
a back up shouldnt be 20% under par
Georgiev is the reason Shesterkin played so much in 2021-22. Because he sucked ass always. So glad to see him suck as a starter
And then the jets back up is better then 90% of the starters in the league
You didn't DARE look away from this game for fear that you would miss a crazy goal !!!!
I sure as sh*t won't miss the rest 😂
As a jets fan I agree with this take, the Avs controlled a large portion of the game, outshot and outperformed the Jets, and most of our goals were just kinda ones that shoulda been stopped. But I'll take it, a win is a win.
Yeah Im an Avs fan and I said right after the game that so long as the Avs take away the low slot passes from below the goal line... the Avs can and will out score the jets even with the #1 tendy in the league.
As an avs fan I still can't understand how people defend this guy constantly and blame the defense. Like the guy looks surprised to make saves
It's because he was so solid last season. If you ask avs fans before this season started if georgiev was better for us than Kemper, some of them would say yes. People get faith in goalies and it's takes more than one bad season to convince everyone a guy is washed.
@@zachgamingzone He is so last season.
@@zachgamingzone No, last season was due more to defense. I may be alone but you could tell this season how much Erik Johnson is missed. They just couldnt afford him. Most of the Avs defense are sports cars unfortunately. Lots of skill but no real grit. No freight trains to play defense.
@@tomp6879there is literally no validity to saying georgiev was carried last year. if i remember correctly the avs fully healthy d-core only played together in i think 2 or 3 games the whole season. last year’s avs were top five in man games last, include the defense. and that roster last year, even if fully healthy, wasn’t really all that great anyway
Because there was not a single one he had to save.
Can’t help but feel bad for the guy
yeah 😢
At the start of the game, the broadcast put his stats on screen. He had 38 wins (most in the league), but his GAA was like 3.36. I just had to assume the Avs score so much it covers up the average goaltending they get.
Sadly Hellebuyck was the goalie who had an off-game. The Avs let in 7 the last time they faced the Jets. In the regular season the Avs only scored on the Jets a total of 4 goals in 3 games. The Jets scored 17 in 3 games. I'd say the Avs goalie performed as expected, while Hellebuyck had a rough game.
least delusional Winnipeg fan
Molten Take: Winnipeg is a good team, but honestly they are carried by their goalies. In almost every game they get massive SAA%'s which just guarantee a win. Which makes them a good playoff team. If Winnipeg had lets say league average goaltending they look much worse in every aspect.
@@lukefantini9770 No. They were one of the best 5 on 5 teams this year.
Georgiev only played in two of the in the regular season games, in which he allowed 7 goals on 42 shots, which included him getting pulled in the 7-0 game after allowing 4 on 15 shots.
@@lukefantini9770 The goalies are good, but their strength has been their 5-on-5 play. Compared to previous years, they've drastically down on the number of shots and high danger chances allowed. When they're properly playing their structured defensive game, they usually allow less than 30 shots a game.
Coming back after the series is over. Way to show em AVS!!! Love our goalie
They really thought putting the Goaltender with an under .900 save percentage was gonna help them win the game.
Backup was sick. There was no choice actually :(
@@CovertOwl,
They _could_ have suited up the kid from the minors who never played in the NHL before. That is also a choice.
@CovertOwl Exactly. Avs had their backup AHL goalie on the bench, although he probably would have had a better game than Georgiev.
When you score 6 a bartender should be able to win you the game.
@@axe2grind244Hell throw the EBUG in there at least the Avs D would play like their lives depended on it
Georgiev nearly cost me my fantasy league: not surprised
Sounds like you did, by drafting him
@@Chyeahokaysounds like reading comprehension isn't your strong suit
He cost me my fantasy league finals.. :C Also Pasta but that's another story.
He cost me a lot of bets last night. If he had even a .750 GAA last night I would have won them all. Who the hell could have predicted he would have a sub .700 GAA on a Stanley Cup caliber team with a first line center so good he had -110 odds to score last night
Sounds like it's not a big enough deal to correct them@@aomoxomoa3658
It was ridiculous looking at the score and the shots on goal during the game because it was tied 3-3 but we had 20 something shots and they had 10. It was painful to watch.
The fact that he was pulled after letting in 4 goals on 15 shots a little over a week ago, to the jets btw, should've been clear indication that he was not ever supposed to be your starter in this series. I don't think he's a bad goaltender overall, but he is playing with zero confidence and honestly looks surprised that it ISN'T in the net when shot at him.
Two of those goals were the exact same play of shit defense. Georgie played bad this game but those 4 only maybe 1 was totally on him
Easily should have Won? Why is it everyone glosses over the Jets? Jets were up 3 twice and if it wasnt for the boys in the stripes it wouldnt have been close. Offsetting penalties that werent offset.
Winnipeg will never get respect unfortunately
This game reminded me of my NHL 24 gameplay... Goals, goals and more goals...
When the playoffs start, the team with the hottest G often wins. Several years ago a pedestrian Tim Thomas stood on his head for the Bruins. Last year Bobrovsky was average to bad most of the season UNTIL the playoffs started... then he was unbelievable. Colorado (and Edmonton) always seem to have journeyman goalies who usually can't finish the job. Total mystery. Why one of them didn't trade for Ullmark, I'll never know. Maybe Ullmark nixed it like he did getting traded to LA, but both Edmonton and CO won't win it all - despite having LOADS of talent everywhere else.
Having said that, like blaming the QB in football, it's not on ONE guy - the porous D often plays a part in bad losses
Annunen in game two if he's healthy.
2 of the goals of helle were on the PP and one was a fluckey bounce. I dont see Avs scoring that hogh again.
I also dont see the Jets getting 7 again this series as both teams lock down more defensively, avs to make up for their goal tending, and jets because its their style of play
I’m a rangers fan but the Jets have scored 7 on the avs in back to back games lol
@@goldenspatian517In the wise, wise words of George W Bush: "Fool me once, shame on... shame on you. Fool me-you can't get fooled again."
They have scored 7 two games in a row vs the AVs yes, but the game where it was 7-0 the AVs effort was not nearly the same, it's like none of the team was playing
As a Georgiev fan, this is a nightmarish result to see for him. I still don't think he's a bad goalie. He had a positive GSAX during the regular season and was great all of last year. But he is inconsistent. I think starting Annunen is probably the right call game 2, but one game (albeit a horrible one) doesn't mean he doesn't come back and find his game.
agree
The playoffs is not the time to try and find your game.
Here is to hoping that his inconsistency means he will have a shutout next game
He’s bad. I’ve seen it since last season. Just like this guy is talking about. A serious team never should have picked this goalie. He’s a backup at best. I’ve been saying it since last season. He doesn’t have a spark like Kuemper did. He can’t shine and steal a game. Even when he’s “good” it’s not him. It’s because the Avs destroyed the other team or the other team produced thirty trash shots. Look at any of his “good” games. None of them are incredible like the goalies for any of the other 15 goalies have had. Ever.
He's been terrible all year!
Loved this. Hated it too. As a jets fan i know that hellebuyck is unlikely to let that many goals in again. Georgiev is though. Scary series, but i think the jets have this one
You do realize at the same time the other teams goalie gave up 6
Damn, 0.696 GAA, guy was lights out then. 🍻
Um. 0.696 GAA would have won the game. You mean Save%, lol.
"It's a habit I can't break." Yes, you can. Do it. Even if he has a crappy night, dude deserves the respect of his name being pronounced correctly.
Right, it’s not like hes talking to us in real time
I mean he is getting no help at all on some of those
7 goals. 23 shots. I think he got plenty of help.
@@jeffswail8446 U nailed it. The number of wins he got had nothing to do with his play. The Avs have just usually been able to outscore their opponents.
As an Avs fan this was horrifically embarrassing. Georgie looked really good through last year and parts of this year, and I had hoped that he was just streaky, but at this point, he’s just the back up Annunen will take over the rest of the series and hopefully the Avs can pull through.
Exactly Gorgiev give to Jets the impression they played well.
Re visiting this video after the series is 3-1 avs is kinda insane. Georgie started playing like his NHL career was on the line. Because it was
Will you make a video about the florida vs tampa series?
No
Sounds like a boring video to make
We knew georgy was going to be bad, we need to D to tighten up and close that hole, but we didn't. That said, last night gave me way more confidence in this series than i had going in because they DOMINATED the avs in the regular season, and it flipped in this game. The jets could not handle the avs so that promising
Let's not forget that Adin Hill, like Georgiev, wasn't "good enough" either... Until he was. Georgie will bounce back, this is gonna be a beauty series
I mean, when I tried to contextualize how bad this was for Georgie, I discovered that Brodeur had an even worse game against the Pens in 99 (in Game 7, no less!), so we should really be pumping the brakes on throwing Georgiev out so quickly.
That said, both Georgie and the defense need to bounce back quickly, or this season will be over before they can blink. Winnipeg's going to be putting their adjustments into making sure the Avs never get 45 shots on net again.
yup.
On this day Justus Annunen became Colorado first goalie. Rest is history...
🙂 Francouz miraculously returns . . . . . .
Maybe you'll understand the defense is the real problem when Annunen get lit up
Damn, such a pressure for young Annunen
@@matias7566 He is 24yrs old that is old enough to play easily.
@@valitsemllaluokanavahyvaks3556 The odds aren't great. It's not off the table, but getting thrown in starting in the playoffs is essentially gambling his entire development on him being ready now. The Avs could probably steal a game off anyone if they can put up six on Hellebuyck, but they needed to find steady goaltending before March, not make a Haily Mary move with their upcoming goalie prospect.
The fact this guy was voted in as an all star is embarrassing, bad all year.
Well, John Scott wasn’t available, so wattayagonnado?
Georgiev didn't have a good game, but tbh most of the goals were the defenses fault. He could have had the 2 on 1 or the power play onetimer, but the other ones were shots from the golie crease or giveaways in the slot. Georgiev didn't have as bad of a game as everyone is talking about
He didn't even need to have an .800 SV% (which would still get even a backup goalie crucified on Twitter). It'd be one thing if it was just below average, but he fell below .700. Only 16 playoff goalies *ever* have played as many minutes and put up a worse save percentage.
Save percentage isn't a complete metric, but it's not so lacking that ranking that low isn't telling about the night he had.
On the other hand, most of those goalies went on to play for several years after, including Marty Brodeur. Yes, Brodeur actually had a worse performance in 99 against the Pens. So yes, it was a terrible performance, but it literally does happen to the best of them. I don't think Colorado can fix their defensive woes as easily as Winnipeg can, but they can go a long way by Georgiev just bouncing back to average.
Georgiev has been the Achilles heel for the Avs the entire season. He is just lucky that he’s had so many studs in front of him bailing him out so many times. PLEASE SEND HIM PACKING IN THE OFF SEASON
I was at the game. Nervous energy for the jets to start but many of there goals were due breakdowns or giveaways by the Avs. Not just on goalie
From a non fan perspective, I found the Jets pretty good ! Geaorgiev did make some pretty insane saves ! And it seems the defense did make some mistakes 😕
The Jets tried their hardest to shit the bed in this game and Giorgiev said “hold my beer”. If the Avs get even middle of the road goaltending the rest of the way, the Jets are in trouble.
As an Avs fan I’m extremely upset that Annunen can’t play tonight
This game one will never be forgotten as a jets fan lol
Or hockey fans in general. 7-6 playoff game, that’s unreal.
Let’s go jets
People acting like the jets have not scored 14 goals on the their precious avs in the last 2 games they played.
On the 1st goal he had no clue where the puck was, he stares off to his left as the puck moves all the way to his right and then back to his left. In other words, he was following the player without the puck. At the last second, he seems to have picked up the shooter too late.
yikes. your team puts up 6 and you still take the L? oof.
If I didn’t know the context I would assume that we are talking about Oilers😂😂😂
Man.. Believe it or not, the canucks lost a huge lead against the wild this season and the score suddenly turned out to be 10-7 wilds. I was bewildered and disappointed the nucks could do that bad. But this is playoffs... so who knows what more absurdity can happen. Let's even see if they can even it up next game for the avs.
I would understand the 7 goals if it was like 40+ shots but the Jets only had 23 SOG.
Waiting on the Georgiev apology video
this game literally proves that the goalies with the best record are the most respected by the analytics
Georgiev played like all my goalies on superstar mode in chel
Georgie is a head case. Not all goals are totally on defense but unfortunately if he gets a couple scored on early that are not even his fault it seems to make him lose confidence the rest of the game. Definitely a wasted opportunity by the avs. I think there are many examples of georgie letting in a few he should have stopped. There are also many examples of horrendous turn overs by defense leading to chances that should not have happened
We want Juice
Is that Annunen's nickname?
@@ericrubin1719yeah
He looked like his worst fear: “playing like a beer league goalie”….😂😂😂.
Let's be real, the defence was standing still and not defending. PK called it, defence got caught watching, this isn't on the goalie only.
Backup goalie Justus Annunen was out sick last night. If the Avs had pulled Georgiev they would have put in a number 3 goalie that had never played in the NHL. Maybe Annunen will get the start in game 2.
More like a number 4 goalie
Well, it's just the first game. Now, if they drop the second game, there's going to be an issue.
Avs knew going in they would have to carry their goaltender. They will have games like this.
It's no secret to anyone this season, the avalanche seemingly have no respect for the goaltending position.
As a basically lifelong Joe Sakic fan, it makes me wonder how much credit he gives Patrick Roy for the Avs Stanley Cup win back in his day. Does Sakic think goaltending is no big deal? He's constantly acquiring amazing forwards and defensemen but has a terrible track record when it comes to goaltending. Admittedly, it worked once a couple years ago with subpar goaltending, I'm not so sure it's going to work this year. I know it's only one game but this is exactly what I was expecting.
I do feel this was probably the Avs best chance to get a foothold in this series. They scored 6 goals against the top defensive team in the league, and yet they still find themselves down 1-0. I do think the Jets and Hellebuyck will play much better defensively going forward and lock it down.
You realize the Jets had lots of odd man rushes and point blank shots, right? And Hellebuyck wasn't exactly great either. No doubt George was bad, but this game wasn't as lopsided as you say it was.
I have been an avalanche fan since 2018 and i knew that in sometime georgiev would let us down in the playoffs but i didn't expect it to be this quick😑😑
While watching the game, the Jets crowd started chanting “overrated”
That probably wasn’t targeted to McKinnon I’ll say that
lol, not "like" 13, EXACTLY 13! That game was CRAZY, lol.
I’m done with this guy. I really hope this was his last start in an Avs sweater. Wish him well… somewhere else.😅
But the backup goalie was out - sick I think
The first 4 Winnipeg goals were scored in the first TEN shots! There was definitely a goal or two that wasn't on Georgiev, but that's just inexcusable. How can you expect to win any game with a save percentage like that? Losing 7-6 just tells me that we would've won if Georgie did his fucking job! I don't want to see him between the pipes ever again, Avs! Bring in Annunen
As a Ranger fan myself, I said the same thing: I didn’t understand the hype around Georgiev and thought he was rather meh. Sad to see him implode in Colorado.
Didn’t the Jets also have a poor goaltending performance
lol 39 saves is poor?
@@rolandg4236 he allowed 6 goals
In that 3 regular strength goals is in fact above their average? Yes.
2 power play and 1 total fluke. Hellebuyck would like that first one back for sure, that won't happen again.
Exactly 💯, Hellebuyck was the goalie who had an off-game. The Avs let in 7 goals the last time they faced the Jets. In the regular season the Avs only scored on the Jets a total of 4 goals in 3 games. While the Jets scored a total of 17 in 3 games. I'd say the Avs goalie performed as expected, while Hellebuyck had a rough game.

This entire season should have been Francouz as starter with Georgie as backup. sigh
Scoring 6 goals on this years Vezina winner and not winning the game is insane

Our goalie situation absolutely sucks… the#2 was sick. Our backup never played in the NHL.

John Gibson should have been in an Avalanche sweater after the trade deadline.
Georgiev was with the rangers his last year with them he had an 895 sv percentage. He had his best year when him and Henrik lundquist were in a tandem in the 19-20 season.
I hope the Avs sign Matt Davis since he's a free agent
Maybe he could start in the next game? 😁
Crazy Bryzgalov returns!!! 😀 😛
Been saying this all year, hardly anyone thought i was right until last night!
Now the “fans” show up in Winnipeg? What a joke
"Easily should have won". Hehehe, he must have been watching a different game. Also Helly gave up 6, not sure why yer bashing Colorados goalie.
I haven't seen goaltending that bad since Wayne Gretzky arcade hockey! An empty net wouldn't have been so porous.
First goal - Massive screen. See this go in on a lot of goalies. Literally saw the same goal from Makar later in the game
Second goal - give away by his Dman and a one timer from inside the hashmarks. Are we expecting this is a save?
Third goal - Dman gets outworked behind the net and Dman in front of the net loses positioning for a tap in.
Fourth goal - Should have had. Similar goal to the Mackinnon goal earlier in the game that Helly gave up.
Fifth goal - almost the same exact play as the 3rd Avs goal that Helly gave up.
Sixth goal - One timer on a PP? These are literally the majority of PP goals I'd assume, not much any goalie can do on these. This can be a save but calling it a bad goal is crazy.
Seventh goal - Pass out to the low slot for a bit of a muffed shot. Tough to get a read on how much he saw of it. Maybe this is a could've/should've saved it. Looks like he bobbled it which makes the read much harder.
Sure, 7 looks bad but breaking down the goals gives a better understanding. You can't give up that many high danger chances and expect to win.
Completely agree with this. The whole team needs to look at how they played defensively.
A goalie that was average to begin with was then way overplayed during the season. What else did the Avs expect?
Bednar has to give Juice a shot in game 2. There's no way Colorado escapes the 1st round with a goalie that gives up 7 goals on 23 shots. A professional goalie that gives up a goal on every 4 shots needs to be benched and given a one way ticket out of town in the offseason. Georgiev is somehow managing to make Jack Campbell look like a hall of famer.
This kinda reminds of the first game of Edm v Cgy series a couple years back. Kinda brutal goaltending on both sides. This was much less stressful to watch not really caring who wins. Maybe the Avs will rattle off 4 straight now like the Oilers did.
The biggest tell was after the fourth goal was scored. He slammed his stick down on the ice and hung his head. The guy is playing with no confidence and he is so nervous because his play was really bad at the end of the season. The problem is that the Avs really don't have an option here. Do they really go with Annunen who has only played a handful of games?
Saying the name wrong isn't a habit ya can't break, its one ya choose to keep.
I honestly was surprised they made Georgiev a starter a season or two ago. I don’t see him lasting much longer
It sucks that Annunen wasn't healthy for this game, but I still would've put in the 3rd string goalie after the 4th goal. Georgiev clearly doesn't have it right now and we need to come up with a solution. Josh Manson covering his man would help a lot too.
You just can’t give up 7 goals on 23 shots. You just can’t..
especially in the playoffs.. this is when you need your players to find an extra gear and step up their play not down
Man, as a jets fan, this rules but i gotta feel bad for the Avs, they need to get markstrom this offseason ASAP
I hope Ivan Prosvetov 'Proto' gets his chance to shine... dude is a big goalie takes up alot of net.
6 goals against Hellebyuck in the first game of the playoffs and you lose in regulation. That hurts.
Please stop pausing the video in the background it makes me wonder if I'm the one lagging or if it's just an image. Regardless, love your videos!
yeah, when i was watching i called it a goalies game and Hellebuyck won lmao
Jets are too powerful.
i saw a video say that georgiev is top 30 players oat💀
I don't think he was actually that bad. He took too long to move it on the second goal, but every other goal (aside from the screened first goal) was from a high danger chance on defensive breakdowns. That's on the Av's D. He did make any game changing saves, but he's not the reason they lost IMO
I was always rooting for him, but this night he literally gave up an entire playoff game. We can honestly never see him starting for an NHL team ever again
Rangers really missing Georgiev and Ryan Reeves 😅
Honestly I was expecting this after the 7-0 game - we played our best game and gave the Avs a ton to work with Prep wise and on our end we had nothing to learn from, the Avs pushed hard and we didn’t do anything to shut down the rush or defensively pressure them all game. I think we can take the next couple games for sure and we pushed back all game so I don’t think we’re in bad shape, but we need to slow the Avs down so Helle isn’t making 40 saves a game.
As a goalie, Gieorgiev’s body language was atrocious and I’m hoping if they put they’re backup/third string in then we can put the pressure on and fight fire with fire, but we locked down and took the Win.
They don’t ask you how, just how many. Barring some point shots Helle never had a chance on and the flukiest bounce I’ve seen in a long time we win 7-3 (6-3 if you want to discount the Lowry miracle bounce) - regardless we held the Avs off at their most desperate - we’ll see how the next few games go.
