I want to recap the Dallas Stars and Colorado Avalanche / Boston Bruins and Florida Panthers series as we finish up the second round of the NHL playoffs.
As a dallas fan, this year and last year have been amazing. Texas Rangers won the world series, Mavericks are in the conference finals, and the stars are looking like they've got as good a chance as ever to win it all. The cowboys... we don't talk about them.
Love how we have sophisticated, competent, and mostly humble management of all our sports teams-and then there’s the Cowboys. But seriously is this what it’s like to be a Boston sports fan?! Just constantly competing for titles..
@@chairmanofthebored6860 Teams change so much from year to year, and lots of things can happen each season. Suggesting that a team faces a previous cup winner doesn’t seem to mean much. So much luck and intangibles go into the results of a game; the past is the past. There are many great teams out there.
The Dallas Stars are only a sleeper team to those who haven't been paying attention. This is a deep-deep, very deep squad with a goalie plying out of his head.
What's really awesome to see for us Dallas fans is that we just handed the best home team in the NHL 3 losses in Denver. Colorado suffered 10 total home regulation/OT losses the entire year at home. Really incredible feat, especially after how Colorado handled WPG in the first round.
So many of my fellow Avs fans are acting like its embarrassing to lose to this Stars team and think we are garbage somehow. Like what? How is losing to a team that got way better after going to the Western finals embarrassing. Dallas is a juggernaut, after being asleep the first 2 games vs Vegas theyve gone 8-3 against the toughest competition any team has faced so far.
Dallas was amazing this playoffs. I don't get why Avs fans (I'm one too) are embarrassed about it. Avs has some clear issues and could have put up a better fight, but even at their best this would have been very close. Stars could definitely take it this year.
Shaking off Nate dawg in 6 games should let the entire NHL know Dallas is here to play. Im aware they have been plagued with some injuries and the whole Nichushkin thing, but Dallas still looks incredible. As an Oilers fan, the sheer depth both their forwards and defenders have is terrifying. Add in a Vezina caliber goalie with the Otter and you’ve got the scariest hockey team in the nhl right now.
Agreed. Dallas looks like a serious contender for the cup this year. Oilers could give them a run if they play their best hockey, though the Dallas depth and goaltending is just so solid, it would take one hell of a performance. Vancouver would get rolled 4-1. VAN is basically the same team as Dallas, but worse on every metric
I'm an Oilers fan, but moved to Kamloops 6 years ago. Got to watch homeboy Stankoven light it up on the Blazers, and now at the NHL level. Would love nothing more than a Oilers Stars conference final, and if the Oilers don't make it, I'm rooting Dallas as well
Glad to see you cover the stars in a positive light and talk about the blatant blown call Even more glad to see you acknowledge the comments claiming you dislike the stars; as a stars fan myself, it definitely came off like that at times Cheers Eck, love the channel :)
Hey, I'm in Texas, and as you might imagine, a Stars fan. No matter who they face in the WCF, and no matter who wins, as long as the Western side wins from here I'll be happy!
Don't y'all think Canucks would get rolled by the Stars? What makes y'all think that would be a good series? Not trying to diss the 'Nucks, but it seems Dallas is a similar playstyle, only playing significantly better. They dominated the Avs who had just dominated the Jets, all of which are top tier teams.
Marchment always feels like he gets the shaft, so him getting it again in such a huge game and then the dagger being by Duchene of all people was just absolute poetry.
@@iamNotHereB are you stupid? Why do you think he wouldn't want a team like to toronto to win? Bc they already get the revenue they need even without cups. But teams like Florida, Dallas, Tampa they need cups and good runs to get attention to their team

I was keeping track of that last game via google and saw the game go into overtime at 1-1. About a minute after the Stars won, I checked again and saw the score at 3-1. I think they corrected that before too long but it was a pretty funny move ngl
Insane take to say that Nichuskin "screwed" them.. He is a person who suffers from an addiction. Instead of calling it just a awful situation where a person is in need of help. You say that he screwed his team. Absolutely crazy to me! Hope you never have to deal with addiction you yourself or anyone close to you. Eck claiming he likes the Stars, but releasing a video right when the NHL has been starting the majority of their playoff games (late af) just to mock us. Seriously though, great video. Can’t wait for the next round
The squad doesnt even feel remotely the same as in 2020 i miss the khudobin bishop era but we are in a better time now unreal seeing the level of connection they have on the ice they just need to keep making these pinball plays, fast passing ,and opportunity creation good defense and goalie play has really helped they have all of the pieces this year its up to them to put it all together into motion now
Just gonna say it, in my humble opinion it takes a lot of external forces to take out the avs in recent years. From chains of injuries, player assistance program, bad calls, or just bad juju from fans jinxing the hell out of their own team. I had an avs signed duchene jersey as part of my hockey shrine, and just look what happened!! 😢
I had pulled up game 6 on the google scoreboard (on my pc) then I left to watch the game. When I came back after the game, the google scoreboard said 3-1 Dallas before I refreshed it. Gave me a good laugh.
Thank you for saying that there were technically 2 goals scored in overtime. I mean, I try not to be an armchair ref and I assure you I keep my mouth shut on those things. But after seeing what happened in the Bruins game and Dallas overtime, I finally said I disagree with the “no goal” call and here is why. I totally understand that refs make these calls in seconds and it is a tough job. But there must be some agreed criteria and a little less subjective on the refs part to the crease call. I have a USA hockey book full of scenarios in games and rationales. Perhaps this needs to be addressed this summer before the next season. Still, I am happy things still worked out for the Stars. ⭐️ Time to move on.
I’ve said it since the start of the series, the Stars are crazy good. Dallas completed just rinsed Colorado and Vegas. As a Panthers fan I think it will go to seven if we go against them.
As and Avs fan I believe the interference call was very shaky, but I am pretty sure what got them was that Duchene made contact with Georgiev before Makar made contact with Duchene, but ultimately Makar caused the interference with his nudge. It is what it is, Dallas got their goal back and the outcome was the same, if the Avs turned the whole thing around and won that would have been wild after that call... imagine the outrage.
the dallas depth gets over blown when it comes to the scoring. They do have a lot of guys who can score, but they dont really have anyone who can match a superstar (there are a couple young guys that may be that dude very soon). How does nobody talk about the fact that all 4 lines are so defensively involved? I swear it looked like each one of them had a stick in each hand blocking every single lane. It is hard to guage that kind of thing when you watch them play a team like vegas, but to see how hard colorado had to work for every single pass was crazy. Not sure how you solve a team like that. I guess we will see if anyone does soon enough
I don't understand how that could possibly be goalie interference when it was a super lite bump, when Sam Bennett literally cross-checked somebody in the back straight into his own goalie, then one second later scores a goal...
Effectively having to beat that loaded Avs team twice in gm6 certainly should help next time adversity comes up. That said I still have your Rangers as the favorite but we have three awesome series plus a game 7 in front of us.
I'm a Stars fan, and I picked the Jets to go to the WCF out of the big 3 in the Central. I thought Dallas was better than Colorado, but that Hellebuyk and a deep Jets team would make it too difficult for us to score. Go figure. I want to watch the Came 7 for the Pacific teams tonight. I thought Vancouver was the better team, but Brock Boeser isn't going to play in the game, and I think that may tilt it in Edmonton's direction. That ECF series coming up will be great. I don't watch the east teams as closely, so I dunno who will pull that off. Rangers had a dominant regular season, but I think the Metro was a bit weak, so Florida looks a little more dangerous to me.
Uhhhh the rangers faced the Canes who have a pretty good offensive front too. Difference is, Florida actually has finishers. Carolina's goal scoring dries up every playoff run.
So an overtime potential series winner for Dallas which should have been allowed was waved off, yet they score later in overtime and win anyway. That makes me wonder about a certain past overtime series winner for Dallas which should have been waved off according to the (admittedly terrible) rule in effect at the time, but wasn't. Would Dallas have gone on to score another goal later in overtime anyway, and win the Stanley Cup legitimately? Unfortunately, we will never know.
As long as you're outside the crease there's no goalie interference. Being shuved into by the defenceman is as good as him running into his own goalie.
That no goal call literally couldve changed the outcome of this series. Terrible stuff. Make the right call especially when you have the power to review it and get a second chance. Just bad. Series ends on a review oh freaking well at least the right call is being made. Colorado got handed a second life in OT and still lost.
As an Edmontonian I must admit that I don't much care about the result of game 7 with the Canucks tonight. Dallas is going to chew up and spit out whoever wins. Oilers might have a faint prayer. Canucks will be meat.
Yeah Dallas is no joke this year, I can clearly see them winning the Cup this year for certain, knocking out both The Avs [2022 Champs] and the Golden Knights [2023's Champs] is no small feat and they have been secretly building their roster to go on a ridiculous deep run in the dance, Dallas is the odds on favorite to win the title as of this point in time and I'm sorry whichever Canadian team ends up facing them did you see Round 2 against Colorado, absolute domination in every game they've won
definite bridge year for the Bruins. They were too up against the cap to start the year, weren't really able to address any needs. Was wild to me the Leafs couldn't get past them Rangers vs Panthers is going to be a blood bath
As a dallas fan, I am surprised, with how bad the recent Stars record is, how we eliminated Vegas, the LAST STANLEY CUP WINNER, and then the Avs, the 2022 STANLEY CUP WINNER
The conversation of whether or not something is goalie interference has been an issue for years. The officiating in this playoff series has definitely renewed this conversation, but I don't see how the NHL is going to fix it anytime soon, considering we've had this conversation for years.
As an Av's fan - I hate that the Avs were eliminated. But, that said, after that goal got re-called I was partially ok that Dallas got the eventual game winner. I wouldn't have wanted to win that way. I also hated that Duchene, of all players, got the game winner -- but it is what it is. The Av's obviously had issues this year and it wasn't meant to be. The better team won (this year!). I am now rooting for Dallas to take it all. I was VERY happy that Dallas eliminated the Golden Knights in round 1 (as was virtually every NHL fan outside of Las Vegas) even though it meant the Av's would have to play the higher seeded team. Now, if the city of Dallas could just to me one more favor. Can your NBA team PLEASE beat the Timberwolves? I hate Minnesota!
